BROWN BEAR AND KODIAK Scandinavian soul, Beretta heart.

A shared passion, specific requirements, dedicated solutions.

A centuries-old and shared passion for the outdoors and hunting in large open spaces, attention to the specific requirements of Nordic hunters and their direct involvement in the development process of the garments. The search for solid, state-of-the-art solutions and field testing, conducted by the most renowned professional hunters. These are the ingredients that have allowed the Beretta Clothing & Accessories Development Centre to produce this first Scandinavian collection.

Two winning outfits, designed to respond to the essential requirements of hunting in Nordic climates: silence, protection from the elements and freedom of movement.

BROWN BEAR is a dynamic-look outfit, designed to provide top performance at a competitive price. It is intentionally light and can be combined with several internal layers, for a greater versatility; it is manufactured using microfiber, very silent, and the Beretta BWB membrane; it is waterproof, windproof, breathable and has taped seams. The many design details include: zip cover flap with hidden snap fasteners, radio pocket with antenna fixing system, front safety pocket with zip, adjustable Velcro cuffs, slip proof patches on the shoulders and mesh lining inside.

KODIAK, a more traditional style, is a jacket and trousers outfit in heavy microfibre with a Gore-Tex® membrane, completely waterproof, breathable and windproof, available in Realtree® green and camo Xtra. The extremely complex design allows adjustments to the neck, chest, cuffs and the trouser hems to prevent air and water from entering. The jacket is longer on the back and the back pad on the trousers provide protection from the cold even when you are seated. Pre-shaped elbows and knees and large back gussets ensure complete freedom of movement. Openings for ventilation under the arm and in the trousers help to get rid of excess sweat during more challenging walks. The anti slip patches on the shoulders makes carrying shotguns safer and easier. The large, special pockets on the jacket and trousers ensure you have all the space you need for the day’s equipment.

BZERO Your inner layer is your first defence.

BZERO is the new line of Beretta technical underwear, able to get rid of up to 95% of odours and provide your skin with an extra level of warmth. We have named it BZERO because it allows the prey to detect ‘zero’ odour from you and because it reduces the unpleasant effects of body perspiration to zero.

In order to achieve this result, the Beretta Clothing Development Centre has succeeded in the revolutionary combining of two technologies: Deocell® and WarmUP, based on body mapping logic.

Deocell® is a cellulose-based natural fibre that does not just cover odors or prevent their development via antibacterial operations, but neutralizes them. Deocell® gets rid of ammonia, acetic acid and trimethylamine compounds by breaking their chemical bonds.

The science of nothing.

GORE™ OPTIFADE™ Concealment is the incredible technology offered by Beretta to ungulate hunting enthusiasts and to the Xtreme Duckers. It is the first-ever visual concealment pattern based on how animals, rather than humans, see both spatially and colorimetrically.

In order to develop the technology, W.L. Gore & Associates gathered the world’s leading experts in animal vision, fabric technology, camouflage and hunting. In contrast to mimicry and camouflage, which attempt to make the hunter match his environment, GORE™ OPTIFADE™ Concealment actually prevents the animal from recognising the hunter as a predator.

The revolutionary idea is to break up the easily-recognisable symmetry of the human body which animals associate with predators, using macro-patterns and to blend it in

with the rest of the environment by using micro-patterns which were designed taking account of the way animals perceive colour and the ratio of positive to negative space.

Not simply an imitation of the surrounding environment, it is an innovative form of camouflage that that blends, rather than hiding, enabling the hunter to get incredibly close to the animal. The pattern no longer consists of leaves and shrubs (which are effective at a very close range but become simple, easily-identifiable blocks of colour at a distance), but of shapes that disorientate the animal’s vision at any distance, both in ambush and stalking hunts.

GORETM OPTIFADETM FOREST PATTERN ANIMAL VISION

Ungulates have an extremely wide field of view, spanning 280°, which allows them to spot prey, predators and possible threats very quickly. This does however impair their visual acuity and focusing ability: they recognize shapes and spots, but must rely on other senses to identify them better.

Forest pattern geometric forms disorientate the animal at any distance, both when hiding and on the move.

HUMAN VISION

Moreover, whilst human beings can see the whole colour scale with trichromatic vision, ungulates have dichromatic vision: they cannot see red, instead seeing the world in yellow, blue and grey. Forest pattern is optimised for a woodland environment taking into account the vertical effect of the trees and closer engagement distances.

THE NEW GORETM OPTIFADETM WATERFOWL PATTERN

MACRO

Waterfowl have a large, almost panoramic, field of vision.

Their visual acuity is very good for an animal, though not superior to the acuity of the human eye. Waterfowl have a fourth photo-receptor that allows them to see some colours that humans cannot see.

Waterfowl are therefore particularly sensitive to color and its continuity. The color elements and the micro-patterns texture help the hunter to blend into the surroundings: they are extremely detailed in order to confuse the birds’ view and use colors specifically designed to create effects of extreme depth and visual contrast.

As in the Forest version, the macro-pattern is responsible for breaking up the symmetry of the human silhouette.

While most patterns are designed as though the prey is on the ground looking at the hunter, the waterfowl pattern takes into account the fact that the birds are usually above the hunter in flight, and in constant motion. The macro-pattern has more of a vertical emphasis than patterns designed for ground-level prey. It is optimised for a 45° engagement trajectory and an engagement distance of approximately 35 metres.

Waterfowl hunting is done in a high contrast environment. Light from the horizon, or light reflected from the water’s surface, will shine through gaps in rushes, creating concentrated light spots. The Waterfowl Pattern is high contrast in order to match the environment.

B-TEX, THE REVOLUTIONARY FABRIC SETTING A NEW STANDARD OF PROTECTION AGAINST THORNS. During the tireless search for new technologies and solutions conducted at our Clothing & Accessories Development Centre, we have identified an exceptional fiber known as Dyneema®; 15 times stronger than steel but softer, incredibly light and long lasting. In conjunction with DSM, which has patented and produces Dyneema®, and Italian companies with extensive experience in weaving, Beretta has succeeded in ‘inventing’ the first fabric made from Dyneema®.

Months of experimentation, tests and controls in the laboratory have led to the creation of B-TEX which combines, both in warp and weft, six picks of High Tenacity Polyamides and one pick of Dyneema®-based yarn, with a special ripstop construction that creates this sort of ‘grid’ of a paler colour which can even be recognized on the finished fabric. This is an exclusive invention by Beretta, made entirely in Italy.

Dyneema®, a registered trademark of the Dutch industrial colossus DSM, is ‘the world’s strongest fiber’. It is used for orthopaedic sutures in medicine, for the supporting ropes of large kites on merchant ships and for mooring ropes, fishing nets and rigging in the nautical sector. It also has applications in the construction industry and is used for the most high performance protective gloves for professional users of circular saw blades. In particular, thanks to the special non-woven felt cloth, Dyneema® is now used to make a new generation of bulletproof jackets.

RIP-METER We have invented a new machine for laboratory testing resistance against thorns. It consists of a pendulum loaded with a weight of 1250 g, at whose edge a steel point is attached. The steel point is released from a fixed distance onto the fabric, firmly attached to a loom at the base of the lever. The results of the impact on the fabric are monitored visually on a backlit screen.

The garments in the Dynamic line are created using Gore-Tex® Z-Liner technology in three layers.

The outer layer uses B-tex as its main fabric. In the areas most exposed to wear, a second fabric is added made of aramid fiber mixed with high tenacity polyamide to enhance its resilience. Both are treated with a Teflon® wash to render them both waterproof and stain-resistant.

The central layer consists of a Gore-Tex® membrane which is completely waterproof, windproof and breathable.

The third inner layer consists of lining made of Coolmax®, with the iconic Beretta checked pattern. Thanks to its special sixsided section, Coolmax® yarn helps to keep a balanced body temperature and lets excess perspiration pass through.

WAX LIFESTYLE Beretta is writing a new chapter in the history of waxed cotton by creating a fabric that is faithful to the origins of the English tradition but revisited by the creativity and the mastery of the Italian textile craftsmen.

Waxed cotton is one of the top ‘technical‘ fabrics invented by man in order to perform a specific function. It was first produced in Scotland at the end of the eighteenth century in order to make tea clippers’ sails waterproof and therefore more efficient. This met with immediate success and was also adopted to make sailors cloaks. Soon the waxed cotton became the standard for English Army uniforms, gradually followed by hunters, farmers and then bikers.

Although new technical fabrics introduced at the start of the 1960s replaced many of its uses, waxed cotton continues to be a staple item in the wardrobes of all fans of the outdoors and is still loved for the unique appearance it acquires as it is used over time. It is this fascinating background, so coherent with the essence of the Vintage Years collections, that pushed us to develop a new type of waxed cotton.

Beretta Wax Lifestyle has as its starting point the original fabric deriving from the most ancient and renowned English textile tradition. In Italy, this material is produced by hand using natural substances and is subjected to artisan techniques such as sanding, washing and re-waxing.

The interaction with atmospheric agents, the artisan component of the manufacturing process and the experience of those who perform it ensure every single garment is unique. And you obtain the final touch by wearing it again and again…

We believe that every single Beretta Wax Lifestyle footwear item, bag and jacket is much more than a simple waxed cotton item: each one holds within it and celebrates a great innovation from the past and a small artisan miracle from the present.

Sequel to the glorious B1One accoutrements line, the new B1 combines these functions perfectly and is set to become the icon of the Beretta accessories range.

The line is divided into two groups: B1 Signature, dedicated to transporting firearms and ammunition and B1 Travel, specially designed for travelling.

B1 SIGNATURE: as its name suggests, is the line of belts, linings and bullet belts on which we proudly place our signature, made using resistant and sought-after fabric with an opaque finish, wonderful leather and antiqued brass hooks. Extremely refined design featuring clean lines fitted to the firearm, highlighted by leather edging and distinguished

by Beretta diamond quilting. Light weight and great attention to ergonomics with the perfect load balancing for ease of handling and transporting.

No compromise on protection and safety thanks to the accurate positioning of the openings, all fitted with a lockable double slider zip, and the memory-foam padding that snuggly encompasses and protects your firearm wherever you go.

B1 TRAVEL: designed for the most demanding, this line combines a vintage look with modern performance for real globetrotters. Light, waterresistant and designed to last, these bags make excellent use of space and are easy to handle.

The outer fabric is resistant to wear and tear and water-resistant. It is made from strong cotton with a very refined fishbone weave.
