Dear Friends: Success takes many forms for Bergen Community College students.

For most, the chief indicator represents completion — graduation — and the fulfilment associated with that accomplishment. For some of those same

students, however, graduation represents just one step in an often long and challenging road where one of the first successes was simply walking

through the College’s doors. Getting to that point was not easy and, thus, a success in and of itself. You opened that door. Without your support, success remains elusive for many Bergen students. This harsh reality stands as the primary reason why the Foundation plays

such an integral role at the College — not only does it help bridge the gap, it makes success possible.

Supporting Success

Initiatives Many Foundation supporters choose to support the institution through helping to establish and sustain innovative programs, experiences and initiatives that open the doors to enlightenment and success for Bergen students, faculty, staff and the community at large. In just the last two years, this support has helped the College secure Achieving the Dream status for the institution, brought a Pulitzer Prizewinning scholar (Peter Balakian, Ph.D.) to campus, enhanced the Summer Intensive bridge program for at-risk students and ensured the persistence of the Turning Point Program for students with intellectual disabilities. Other recent gifts have supported everything from faculty research and scholarship to sponsoring a team of students to attend the prestigious National Collegiate Conference Associationâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s National Model United Nations New York Conference.

Supporting Success

Events The Foundation had an ace up its sleeve with the reimagined Club Monte Carlo, successfully creating the social event of spring. The swinging soiree swept guests off their feet and into an era of brass bands, ostentatious attire and raucous revelry. Traditional events such as the Medallion Awards Dinner and Golf Classic once again helped deliver support to scholarships and initiatives designed to help Bergen maintain its status as the No. 1 ranked college in New Jersey for associate degree graduates. And speaking of grads, thousands of Bergen alumni now network with their alma mater through events like the annual recognition dinner and young professional gatherings, reminding them that no matter where their success takes them, theyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re a Bulldog for life.

Since our inception in 1982, The Bergen Community College Foundation has assisted thousands of students achieve their academic goals. Working with our community partners we have consistently raised funds to assist students through scholarships, book funds, and emergency assistance. Our need for support is consistent and strong… This year alone we witnessed a 36 percent increase in students applying for aid through our scholarship program. The Foundation proudly provided almost $500,000 in scholarships alone this past academic year. We’ve also provided countless bus passes and food assistance through our emergency assistance fund. You can make a difference with us… You can become a member of the Bergen family with a gift to the Foundation. The Foundation accepts gifts in all amounts – no gift is too small or too large.
