January, 2019 Dear Berkeley Hall Member, We are proud to introduce the 2019 Golf Program Book to the membership. We look forward to the upcoming season which will include exciting new tournaments, updated tournaments and golf programs for the whole membership to enjoy. The 2019 Golf Program Book is available to view or download on the Club’s website. Go to www.berkeleyhallclub.com, under the Golf Home Page and click on 2019 Schedule and Tournament Results. The Golf Home Page is being modified to provide a more interactive experience and is a great source of all golf program information. The Professional Staff will be updating all golf pages with current event information, tournament news and results along with what merchandise is new or arriving soon in the professional shop. This year’s Tournament Book includes the complete 2019 schedule and entry forms for the “major” tournaments along with information on Golf Course Maintenance & Nine & Wine Events. In addition, additional golf events including The Players Amateur and other golf association events hosted at the club have been included. As a reminder, all 2019 tournament/event registration will be available on the Club’s website via ForeTees. Those who wish to scan their entry form to the golf shop may continue to do so for the 2019 season. Men’s and Ladies day will continue to be held on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s respectively and registration is through ForeTees or by calling the Golf Shop. Please remember to register early for all of your favorite events! 2019 Men’s Golf Program The 2019 Men’s Golf Program has been modified in an effort to increase participation. We are limiting the number of events that we will offer, but have chosen formats that we feel will be fun for all of our members. Each event will be a shotgun with either a lunch or dinner following the round. March 13

BH Men’s Cup

Looking ahead to Men’s Day in 2019, there will be six events with three in the Spring and three in the Fall. Just as last year, the last event will be a ‘Ryder Cup’ style event. The top two point leaders will be designated as Captains to select their team for the BH Men’s Cup. For each event you play in, you get 5 points. 1st Place gets 20 points, 2nd Place – 19, 3rd Place – 18, etc.

Berkeley Hall Dress Code Appropriate golf attire is required for all Players. If in doubt as to appropriate attire, players should check with the Golf Shop staff. Shirts with collars, turtlenecks or mock collars and sleeves must be worn at all times. Slacks or golf shorts must be worn. Cargo shorts, tank tops, T-Shirts, cut-offs, denim pants, denim shorts, sweat pants, bathing suits, or other athletic shorts are not permitted. Hats must be worn with bill facing forward. Shirts must be tucked in at all times. Shoes: Soft Spikes and Tennis Shoes are the only acceptable shoes for the golf courses and practice facilities. Large rubber spikes, metal spikes, and/or field shoes are not permitted. Acceptable spikes are available through the Locker Room.

Berkeley Hall Pace of Play & Course Etiquette Berkeley Hall’s pace of play policy has been set at 4 hours. Any group that falls behind the fourhour pace will be asked to speed up by the professional staff. Groups will get two warnings and if they cannot get back into position, they will be asked to pick up their balls and proceed to the correct position on the golf course. Members that are asked to skip ahead two times throughout the course of a year will meet with the Director of Golf to discuss different techniques to play in 4 hours or less. Members that are asked to skip ahead a third time will be invited to a Golf Committee meeting and may be restricted from “prime time” tee times. On days that we are Cart Path Only, pace of play will be set at 4 hours and 20 minutes. Repair ball marks on the green. Fill in all divots through the green. Carefully rake sand bunkers after use. Enter and exit the bunkers at their lowest elevation.


2019 President’s Cup Season Long Individual Match Play Event You are cordially invited to participate in the Ninth annual President’s Cup event to be contested during the months of March - December, 2019. The field will be limited to the first 64 individuals to register. This year’s President’s Cup will have 2 stages. The first stage will be the group stage where players will be in Pods of 4 players and will play each person in their group to determine a winner for that Pod. The next stage will be the Knockout stage where the winners of each Pod will play Individual match play until the Overall Champion is decided. For grouping purposes only, players will be grouped based on their Handicap Index** as of February 15, 2019. USGA Handicaps will be used at the time of the match. Players are responsible to schedule their match during the allotted time. Each month, the professional staff will send an update with the matches that have been completed. If a match is not completed by the designated date, the match will be decided by an impartial member witnessed coin toss. The Director of Golf will resolve all scheduling disputes. Our members who are not “full time” residents are reminded to only enter if you will be able to fulfill the match schedule requirements. Brackets will be posted by February 28, 2019. The tournament format and the schedule of events have been included to help schedule your matches.

The “Chairman” 2019 Four-Ball Match Play Season Long Team Match Play Event

You are cordially invited to participate in the annual “Chairman” Four-Ball Match Play event to be contested during the months of March - December, 2019. The “Chairman” will be a year-long, single elimination, handicap and flighted match play event. Team’s must be comprised of 2 Members and will be flighted based on combined handicap index. For seeding purposes only, players will be seeded based on their Handicap Index as of February 15, 2019. USGA Handicaps will be used at the time of the match. Players are responsible to schedule their match during the allotted time. If a match has not been completed in the first thirty days, the golf staff will send a match reminder. If a match is not completed by the designated date, the match will be decided by an impartial member witnessed coin toss. The Director of Golf will resolve all scheduling disputes. The Berkeley Cup is a great opportunity to invite a golf professional from your home club to come enjoy the Low Country for a weekend of competition and camaraderie. Eligible teams will consist of a golf professional and 3 Amateurs (Teams may consist of Berkeley Hall Members or Guests. Our Professional Staff will assist your group with finding a golf professional if needed.) The field will be limited to the first 28 teams to enter. The field will be limited to the first 54 teams to enter, so please send your completed entries as soon as possible. Masters Par 3 & Players Draft Sunday, April 7, 2019 You are cordially invited to participate in the Fourth Annual Masters Par 3 & Players Draft to be played on Sunday, April 7th, 2019. Members are invited to play in this fun and casual golf event that combines a unique 9 Hole Competition with a “Draft” of the upcoming 2019 Masters Participants. The field will be limited to the first 48 players to enter, so please send your completed entries back as soon as possible. Our tournament format will include individual gross and net followed by the Masters Player Draft. The prize fund will be split between the tournament and the draft competitions.

North ~ South Challenge Saturday, September 28, 2019 You are cordially invited to participate in the North ~ South Challenge to be played September 28, 2019. The 2018 edition of this event was a tie due to inclement weather and so the North squad is set to defend their 2017 title and we hope that you will join us for another round of fellowship and spirited team competition. The tournament format and schedule of events are also listed below. Please note that all dress for our tournament activities will be club casual.

Format Players will sign up as individuals and will be assigned to either the North or South team based on the following criteria: North Team ~ Property owners on or around the North course, Cottage owners on Clubhouse side of Good Hope Road and Willingham Court, and Lifestyle homeowners, Lifestyle Cottage owners, or otherwise members with an even membership number.

South Team ~ Property owners on or around the South course, Cottage owners on opposite side of Good Hope Road from Clubhouse, and Lifestyle homeowners, Lifestyle Cottage owners, or otherwise members with an odd membership number.

The winner of the tournament will be the team with the highest point total based on an average of the cumulative totals of their respective players. The number of scores being used will be based on a percentage of the total number of individuals per team.

Berkeley Classic Wednesday - Saturday, October 9-12, 2019 You are cordially invited to participate in the men’s Berkeley Classic to be played October 10-12, 2019. The field will be limited to the first 48 teams to enter and eligible teams will consist of 1 Member and 1 Guest. The tournament format will consist of 6 nine hole rounds played over three days. Flights will be made up of 6 teams based on a combined team handicap index. Our tournament format and the schedule of events have been included to assist you. Please note that all dress for after golf activities will be club casual with the exception of Saturday Evening’s Dinner where Jackets will be required. We welcome you to play a practice round on Wednesday, October 9th.

Friday & Saturday, November 1 & 2, 2019 You are cordially invited to participate in the Seventh annual HAIG Member ~ Member event to be played Friday & Saturday, November 1 & 2, 2019. Teams will compete in a 36 hole Stroke Play Event using the Modified Stableford Scoring. The Golf Course will be set-up to play as “Hard as it Gets.” The team returning the lowest Net score for 36 holes will determine the Overall Champion. Net prizes will be awarded in each flight and a Gross winner for Men and Women will be awarded. The field will be limited to the first 54 teams to enter, so please send your completed entries as soon as possible. The golf staff is available to answer any questions you may have or to help you find a partner if needed. Our tournament format and the schedule of events have been included to help schedule any outside activities. Please note that all dress for our tournament activities will be club casual.

Men’s Club Championship Saturday & Sunday, November 16 & 17, 2019 The Club Championship will be contested Saturday & Sunday, November 16 & 17, 2019. The Championship is a 36 hole stroke play event with the Overall Champion being the Member who returns the lowest Gross Score in the Championship Flight. The Senior Club Championship is a 36 hole stroke play event with the Overall Champion being the Member who returns the lowest Gross Score from the Member Tees and is 55 years of age or older by November 16th. The Super-Senior Club Championship is a 36 hole stroke play event with the Overall Champion being the Member who returns the lowest Gross Score from the Green Tees and is 65 years of age or older by November 16th. Each Tee Division will compete for Low Gross Prizes, and the Flighted portion of the Event will compete in a Low Net Competition. Club Challenge December 5-7, 2019 You are cordially invited to participate in the Club Challenge to be played December 5th -7th, 2019. We look forward to seeing teams representing clubs from around the country as we gather for this exciting team competition to be contested over our North and South courses. Eligible teams will consist of: • Berkeley Hall Member(s) and Guest(s) from current or previous club. (Maximum 2 Berkeley Hall Members) • Berkeley Hall Member sponsored team from current or previous Club (4 Guests). • Special Invitations to Teams offered by the Golf Committee (4 Guests). (Please note – up until August 1st, only teams that consist one member and three guests, or two members and two guests, will be accepted. If the field is not full following August 1st, we will accept teams made up of 4 guests)

The field will be limited to the first 28 teams to enter. We anticipate that this event will fill early so please send your completed entries back as soon as possible to secure a spot in this year’s field. Golf Professionals are not eligible to participate. All social functions are limited to the contestants only for this event. Our tournament format and the schedule of events have been included to assist you with your arrangements.
