When Green Oaks was first settled, land was available at $1.25 per acre. Originally known as “the Village of Oak Grove”, the name changed to Green Oaks in 1960. The Village’s population increased by 1,000% between the years of 1960 and 1985, and continues to grow today. Students that live in Green Oaks can attend school in Oak Grove District 68 and Community High School District 128, which includes Libertyville High School. For recreational activities, Green Oaks is surrounded by a number of Forest Preserves that offer parks, trails, and facilities.
