According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there have been thousands of injuries related to ingestion of products containing imidazolines, such as eye drops and nasal sprays. When ingested orally, there are adverse reactions, especially with children. To help mitigate these injuries, the CPSC has passed regulations requiring the use of child-resistant (CR) packaging for manufacturers of over-the-counter and prescription eye drops and nasal sprays containing 0.08 mg or more of imidazolines.
