A. Choose the tube filled volume (tube capacity) From tiny tubes of 3ml to grander options that carry 300ml, tubes come in many capacities.
The most commonly used tubes, which are available in Polyethylene (LDPE, MDPE, HDPE), Polypropylene, and EVOH materials. Polyethylene and Polypropylene tubes can be used for many types of non-aggressive ingredients. For more aggressive ingredients, EVOH barrier tubes can be used.
B. Choose the tube diameter
Common applications include Skin Care, Sun Care, Bath & Shower, and Toiletry markets.
Advantages Lightweight Leak-proof • Durable and non-breakable • “Bounce back” to original shape after dispensing • Options for highest print quality (IML tubes) • •
Use these guides and tables as a reference to approximate your tube requirements as specific tube characteristics differ by manufacturer.
Watch-Outs If an ingredient is too aggressive, it has the ability to leach through and attack the tube material • Lowest barrier properties • If stored in heat, the strength and durability is greatly diminished • Medium level of print quality for the majority of extruded tubes
