The regulations indicate that the CCG can detain foreigners for 30 to 60 days depending on the approval of their authorities and that the detention shall start after the nationality and identity of the parties involved are ascertained The duration of the detention can also be extended depending on the approval of the Coast Guard agency

Manila launches car-free Roxas Boulevard program

The Manila City Government has launched yesterday the prograg promoting fitness to its resident by closing a portion of Roxas Boulevard. The Mayor, Vice Mayor, and District 6 Councilor launched the "Move Manila CarFree Sundays sa Roxas Boulevard."

Despite the inclement weather conditions the program still continued its launch, promoting the free use of Roxas Boulevard for recreational activities every Sunday from 5a m to 9a m District 6 Counsilor Lacuna authored the Ordinance, stating that portions of Roxas Boulevard from Padre Burgos Avenue to Quirino Avenue would be closed The program aims to promote physical fitness for the residents of Manila by providing them space during the weekend to do physical activities. Motorists need to prepare for higher tolls on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), as the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) is in the final stages of considering toll rise demands for both roads

In an episode with reporters, TRB Executive Director Alvin Carullo revealed that the NLEX toll rise petition was already in the "advanced stage"

Carullo stated the fee rise might be applied in the coming month According to the TRB official, NLEX's toll raise reach this year covers the second tranche of scheduled rate hikes, which will be carried out in two equal parts, with the first 50% taking effect in 2023

Last June, the TRB authorized NLEx to charge an additional P7 in the open system and P0 36 per kilometer in the closed system

According to Carullo, SLEX toll road concessionaire San Miguel Corp also submitted an application for the start of the second part of its toll hike The TRB official stated that the toll increase might be implemented within a year.

SLEX will see toll increases at the same rate as last year.

Last October, SLEX increased its toll from P10 to P30 depending on the type of vehicle, and from P4 to P8 for vehicles traveling from Calamba to Sto. Tomas, Batangas. Nevertheless, Carullo stated that the TRB was "aware of the inflationary situation "
