White is fresh, innocent, and a genuine classic to boot. White readapts over and over to vibrant colours as well as pastels, lending that revitalising touch. White belongs to the “non-colours”, and is summer’s black. That’s why we’ve tailored both garments and living accessories in this airy colour for you in this issue. But this coming spring’s palette doesn’t just have white on offer. The new look features both sporty and very feminine collections in subtle, understated shades, as well as vibrant colours with which to create a bold new mix. Those who prefer things a bit more sedate can team this cornucopia of colour with black or white. Easter is just round the corner, and the first tentative rays of sun tempt us out of doors more often once more. Not that there’s not enough to do, but what would you say to a cycle tour? What’s that – you’ll have to clean up the old war horse again first – it’s seen better days? Don’t worry, we know the score – which is why we’ve dreamt up a special makeover for your bike. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised! Spring unfortunately has its fair share of rainy days, but then again there’s nothing so boring as the same weather all the time. So let’s be glad of the rain, and take advantage of the less beautiful days to bring a touch of order and a few new fashionable details into our home offices and studies. The felt projects and a decorative apple print are sure to put you in the mood.
Wishing you hours of pleasure reading, sewing and crafting, Your Editorial Team and Claudia Giesser, Editor-in-Chief

et S w e a t go e s up -m a rk Chic needn’t necessarily mean uncomfortable! Sweatshirt fabric has recently won a place in the more discerning echelons of fashion. A fine example of this is our blazer here. Teamed with a bold skirt, the blazer comes across as anything but plain.
5210 Blazer This feminine style with peplum is worn fitted with the narrow belt, creating a slender line. Buttons in the modern “uniform style round out a smart look.
5211 Skirt with pleated insert Although pencil skirts without a slit are not generally comfortable, the pleated insert on the back here gives your legs enough freedom of movement whilst providing a highly decorative touch.

Your Choice
B lou se Fa vo ur i t e s Women have a soft spot for blouses, and this year these wardrobe classics are showing that they can be more versatile than you might have thought.
5212 Your Choice – Pintuck blouse The votes are in for your favourite model on the Internet. This time, the collarless pintuck blouse was quite clearly the winner, garnering 50% of the votes. Many thanks to our readers for their active involvement in the selection process! The pintucks here were sewn with the new pintuck foot with clear sole no. 46. Inserted between them were rows of decorative stitching serving to further enhance the effect of the pintucks. The large stitch holes or eyelets are created by using the wing needle.
5213 Blouse with border The simple cut of the blouse shows off the border with the drawn-thread work to best advantage. The border was created with the Mega Hoop and the BERNINA CutWork tool.
5214 Shirt blouse This short blouse-style shirt is simplicity itself to sew. The embellishments applied with the brand-new Spanish hemstitch attachment look like old-fashioned needlework, whilst being much quicker to create than in grandmother’s day!

n A pp le s o f t e m p ta t io This pretty apple decor adds a touch of colour to the daily grind, making office work twice the fun!
5240 Organiser A good way to organise your week. Anything that’s not pressing can be stowed in the unlabelled pocket. Punching the letters is of course a breeze for CutWork users, but everyone else can either embroider the letters or paint them on the felt with textile paint. 5241 Vase cover Whether or not it contains fresh flowers, this vase is a genuine ornament – and it’s made in no time flat! Here too, a little apple provides a cheerful note. 5242 Laptop cover Practical, even when you’re on the move! Of course, there’s room for a little notepad and pens as well as your laptop. Once you’ve taken the laptop out, the opened-out cover also serves as a comfortable base on which to write. Fabric: Swafing

Pa rt n e r lo ok We belong together! Your outing will be double the fun in sporty “his and hers” jackets in trendy colours.
5217 Sporty jacket for her and 5218 Sporty jacket for him You’ll both cut a fine figure in this nifty number. The Micromeryl jacket is cut somewhat longer in the back, while the sewn-in reflective stripes ensure you’ll make it home safely, even in the dark. A smart emblem on the back and contrasting colour details lend sporty touches.
