Preface

A ye n fo r t he ne w Summer was lovely, but the seasonal change to autumn also has its charm. Wearing dainty little dresses all the time eventually becomes boring, and so we look forward to something new. As the days grow shorter, cuddly fabrics and hot prints give us the urge to sit in front of the sewing machine again. We needn’t always be working on an entire outfit, though. Why not try sewing one of our ultra-fashionable collars – all quick to make, and suitable for jazzing up a ready-made top. Depending on your sewing-computer equipment, you can embellish your project with embroidery, cutwork or paintwork. We also have a very stylish collar variant for those of you without an embroidery module. In addition, we’ve got plenty of suggestions for those who’d prefer a spot of home redecoration. Whether it’s attractive little bits and bobs or larger projects, there’s something for everyone. And don’t forget that it will soon be Christmas again! Whether you’re looking for table decorations or those essential pressies and cards, you’re sure to find something suitable here. Wishing you hours of enjoyment sewing and crafting, Claudia Giesser, Editor-in-Chief

C i t y c hi c Geometric patterns abound in the new season. While the bold among us mix different patterns, others jazz up their wardrobe with separates.

5715 Hooded coat Ideal for the transition between seasons, this coat flatters all figures. That’s why we’ve got it for you up to size 48 on the pattern sheet. The original fabric is 65 per cent wool, and is warmer than you might think.

5716 Blouse Two fashionable prints in softly flowing fabric make this blouse a sure-fire favourite. The long facing elongates the figure. A small slit on the cuff allows you to play with the sleeve length.

5717 Trousers On international catwalks, we discovered something which we fell for at once, and which makes these simple trousers the latest fashion statement. The stripe on the inside of the trousers is a touch for the fashionistas among us, but the more sartorially conservative will also find the model on our pattern sheet minus the stripe.
