cineclub campanha Campanha is a very dense neighborhood situated very close to the historical center of the city of Porto. The urban texture displays in itself many different typologies and situations, the traditional ‘ilhas’, characterized by narrow streets and small houses, the big infrastructure of the new train station, and an old industrial area. The project is very simple and bold, trying not to add complexity to the area. The whole building is created by the repetition of a 4,5 metres module which accomplishes to the variety of the requests of the program. The variation on the grid allows to create different spaces, an auditorium, a polivalent room, offices, a library, a cafeteria and rooms for workshops and coworking spaces. On the garden side the facade is made up by a closed logde with a strong visual relation to the park and the public space defined by the presence of the building while the back facade is more closed and works with the scale of the surroung buildings. location: Campanha, Porto Projecto 4, 2018

welcoming center spina location: Spina archeological site, Ferrara. construction class 1, 2016 winner with other 5 projects of the competition ‘building with wood’ held in the university by an external jury

The project is located in the countryside close to an important etruscan archeological site. The aim of the project is the development of a building that could support both the technical and the touristic issues related to the site. The program includes both working spaces as the laboratory of restoration for the researchers and public spaces to improve the usability of the area.

student housing corelli The student housing is situated in the historical city center of Ferrara in a very dense urban texture characterized by narrow streets and generous gardens in the inner part of the buildings. Respectful towards the context the building follows the alignments of the buildings around it. It also respects the historical typology, but thanks to the permeability of the ground floor the garden is directly connected to the city. The whole ground floor is public and includes services as a library, a gym, a cafĂŠ and a study hall. The other three floors contain the rooms and common spaces for the students, like dining rooms, kitchens, relax areas and a terrace.

barraca da queima The temporary existence of the building allows us to consider the materials that are usually not used in the architectural creation, and open a new path to redefine use and function of these materials. In this way an L-profile for an industrial shelf may become a perfect support for a pink plastic rope used for packaging. Simple elements are used in an elemental way in order to create strong shapes: the torsion that envelops the building is created by simple wood blocks but results in a big transformation. Every step of the construction is reversible and doesn’t affect the integrity of the materials.

super didactic city Seeker of knowledge, welcome to a university not established in ancient times, one which cannot boast about famous students. Why should you put your trust in an institution like this one? It’s simple: this is the first and only university of the future. Nothing like this has ever existed before. We are in and of the city. From the physical public infrastructure to the theoretical realm, the city is always at the heart of the university. All the departments are interlinked via the enormous endless infrastructure facilitating the mobility of people and ideas. The platform works as a bridge which is part of a web of structures that unfolds throughout all the cities that host our universities. We conceive the university as the most important public institution. As an intrinsically public infrastructure, it is able to build strong ties not only with the students, but also with the entire population living in the city. Finally, as pertaining to the public domain, its aim is to delete the differences and to overcome the existing barriers. Through its yet discreet diffused presence, this urban dispositive would create an endless flow inside and outside the city. It would thus change its inhabitants’ way of living and experiencing the urban space. Parallel to a more connected city, the neverending platforms would represent a perpetual exchange of knowledge and information that could overcome the obstacles that prevent a virtuous relationship between the multiple cultural and educational areas from taking place.
