Eli went into the treehouse the next day with a plan. He hadn’t been able to sleep the previous night, so he decided to brainstorm by himself. It took him all night, but he finally figured it out. They were going to use Kai’s powers to their advantage. Sunny was bored of waiting for Kai to arrive and started playing with her twintails, Kris was reading a book about black magic, and Eli was nervously setting up his presentation. He made a quick poster during school that day, not of the best quality, but it works. Kai lazily ran his fingers through his chestnut brown bangs before climbing into the treehouse. He had no interruptions while walking to his seat, unlike the previous day. Kai noticed something off about everyone, but thought nothing of it. Eli coughed nervously as he finished setting up his poster. Kai was impressed to see that he actually came up with something, until he saw what was on it. “This isn’t another of one of your dumb pranks is it?” Kai said, frowning. He waited for an explanation from the three. “No!” Eli blurted out. He quickly coughed before saying, “I mean… It isn’t a prank. I know you may not like this plan, but please hear me out.” Kai quietly stared at him before leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms. “Proceed,” he said. Page 8

Eli gained back his composure and started to explain his idea. His plan was simply this; They would use Kai’s prophet eye to foresee bullying and illegal actions that would happen around their town. They then would prevent these events from happening and use their monstrous powers for good. Eli hoped this would be a way for people to realize that, just because they’re special, they aren’t evil beings. The room grew silent as they all stared at Kai, waiting for his input. It stayed like this for about 5 minutes until he finally opened his mouth. Kai sighed. “Well… It’s worth a try, I guess,” he said. The three sat there, shocked. The percentage of that plan happening was very low, but it was put in act with just a few words. Though, at the time, the trio had no idea how nervous Kai actually was. The first time the four attempted the plan turned out to not be too well. The first time the four attempted the plan turned out to not be too well. Something had gone wrong with Kai’s eye so they had seen two different events at once; One of them was of a purse being stolen by a biker and then a guy inside a store holding a purse. They assumed this was the guy who stole the purse and decided to track him Page 9

them, it turned out that they were wrong. In reality, the man in the store was waiting for his girlfriend to come out of the dressing room, thus holding her purse. They never found out who the thief was, making the woman roll her eyes and make a rude comment.

Eli stayed confused and said, “What do you mean?”

The second time the four attempted the plan was the next week. Kai had seen a vision of a cat in a tree and a crying little girl. Kai claimed that this event took place on a Tuesday. They decided to go with this, since it is a smaller issue and wouldn’t be too much for them, unlike last time.

“Well.. You see, Kai is… special. He can predict the future.” Sunny finally said. Eli gave the two a blank stare and chuckled a little bit.

The four located the girl in the town center, walking with an older lady. They predicted the time of day in the vision, thanks to Sunny’s weather skills, and figured it would happen any second now. Except it didn’t. This was very strange to them, since the four had planned it all so well. Eli had been following them around with his invisibility and waited for the time of the vision. It wasn’t until an hour or so later when something actually happened.

“It’s true!” Sunny snapped. “He got into an accident when he was smaller and he... He hurt his eye. It took him a year to be able to see out of it again, but now whenever he looks out of it, he can see the future. Kai is a prophet. But there is a certain factor that isn’t so grand.”

A black cat sprinted past the girl, older lady, and their dog. This caused the dog to go mad and go chasing after it. The little girl started chasing after the dog, but tripped over a loose brick. Eli panicked and quickly turned visible and ran to her aid. Sunny

Sunny and Kris grew silent. They looked at each other like they were saying, “Should we tell him?” Eli was confused and stared at the two, waiting for an answer. They stayed like this for five minutes until Kris reluctantly said, “It’s to conceal his power.”

“The future? Man, I expected something more original than that from you two!” Eli said, now all out laughing.

Now Eli had stopped laughing and was listening to Sunny seriously. “What is it?” Eli said. “He can only see tragedies.” Kris answered. Eli’s eyes went wide and stopped talking. The three left the treehouse shortly after the reveal.

Sunny replied. Kai rolled his eyes at both answers and looked over at Eli, waiting to hear his dumb excuse. “I-uhh-cupcakes! I promised to make cupcakes with my mom!” Eli said hurriedly, not thinking about what he said. Sunny face palmed and Kris burst into laughter. Kai just sat there staring at Eli with a blank expression. Eli started to turn red as he realized what he said and coughed. “I mean, I have to, um...Yeah I’m free.” Eli said, finally giving in. “Good. Finally we can get some work done around here. Meeting dismissed!” Kai said while standing up. Kai was the first to leave. When he left, the three continued talking. “Does anyone really know why Kai wears the eye patch?” Eli asked, since he had just joined a few months earlier.

The little girl started crying harder, and no one knew why, until they looked at the band aid. It was completely covered in ice and was giving the poor girl an ice burn. Sunny’s face went white at the sight, she must have been so worried that she accidentally froze it! People started backing away from Sunny, screaming things like, “Monster!” Even the little girl was pulled away from her by the older lady from before. Sunny was speechless, she couldn’t move. All of the sudden, ice formed around her. Sunny had frozen her own body from shock and sadness. Kris quickly ran over to her and picked her up, running to the clinic across the street. The clinic wouldn’t take her in, though, because they had witnessed it too. Kris was frustrated and just took her back to the treehouse to treat

This was the last time the four had tried Eli’s plan for a long time. It took them a year to finally bring themselves to it. Once she unfroze, they found out that she was in a coma. The coma had lasted for five months before the now 15 year old girl woke up. Three months later, when she could finally get out of bed, Sunny insisted that they try the plan again. The three boys repeatedly called her insane and refused. She kept this act up for five long months before they finally agreed, since she was never going to give up. This was the third, and last, time the four tried Eli’s plan. Kai had seen a vision of an ice cream truck breaking down. The four thought the situation was perfect. They can get all sorts of people to think better of them with this. The event would take place the next day, right at the tipping point of noon, in the park. The four headed down there an hour ahead of time and prepared themselves mentally. It’s been a while since they’ve last done this, and they were all very nervous. All of the sudden an ice cream truck had crashed into a tree, it wasn’t a very severe crash however. It was go time for them. The four ran over to the truck. Eli and Kai went to make sure the front of the truck and the driver were okay, while Kris and Sunny ran into the back. The ice cream had been melting for who knows how long and they panicked a little. Page 12

before them. Then, from the corner of the room, Kris emerged from the darkness and was holding a voodoo doll. He approached his comrades while laughing quietly and manically- to himself. “Ohhh, so that’s where he was.” Sunny said with a smirk, she obviously knew about what Kris was up to. “Haha, real funny, can we get down to business now?” Kai said with a dull and annoyed expression. The four sat down and Kai started explaining his idea. By the time he was only a few words in, however, the three were fast asleep. “This one’s no good either, huh?” Kai said to himself before throwing a book at each of his pupils. They yelped as they quickly struggled to sit up, rubbing both their eyes and heads. “Where do you even get these books from!” Eli exclaimed. It was not the first time this has happened, since the three always dislike Kai’s plans. “Magic.” Kai said with a sarcastic tone. “Anyways, if you three hate my ideas so much why don’t you just think of your own!” “I’m busy making voodoo dolls.” Kris answered.

Page 5

“Suck it up!” Sunny snapped. “Anyways, we have some work to do, ‘Mr. Leader’.” “Right, right.” Kai said while finding his seat in the treehouse. There was a long table with four seats at it; Kai’s was at the head of the table, since he is their leader. While he walked toward the seat, he suddenly stopped. He felt a presence standing right behind him. Without a second thought Kai grabbed an invisible arm over his shoulder and flung the invisible body into the wall on the opposite side of the treehouse. “Whooops, he got me again.” Eli said, laughing, while getting up. Eli was clearly visible now. Kai said nothing and continued leisurely to his seat. Eli had the ability to turn invisible on command, but he was anything but good at being stealthy. Kai stared at the room and suddenly said, “Where’s Kris? He’s usually the first one here.” “Probably caught up playing with his black magic and voodoo dolls,” Sunny said with a snicker. She continued with, “Let’s just start without him.” Right when Kai was finally allowed to sit down with no distractions, his arm wrapped around his head. The other’s laughed at the strange sight Page 4

Kris wasn’t sure what to do, or what kind of magic to use. On the other hand, Sunny was already cooling the ice cream down with her powers. She had created a few snow clouds inside of the truck and formed ice on the walls of the broken freezers. Kris decided to try fixing the system the “old fashioned way.” Luckily, the driver was safe. Eli and Kai let out a sigh of relief to that. Eli still dialed 911 and requested for some medical help, though, just to make sure. While Eli did that, Kai focused his attention onto the front of the truck. There wasn’t too much damage, but it was enough of it to be visible. Kai brainstormed his mind for ideas on what to do. He did this for a few minutes until the driver noticed and told him not to worry about it, since they were already

Page 13

Sunny was becoming tired from using so much of her powers continuously at once. She felt like she would pass out any second, Kris was panicking a lot at this point. He didn’t seem too close to being finished with fixing the freezer by hand. All of the sudden, Kris remembered a spell he read about a while ago. The spell could fix anything you desire, all you need is the passion in your heart for it to work. You can also only use this spell once every five years. Kris had never tried it out, and thought that this could be his chance to try it out. Kris chanted the spell three times as he wished for the truck to be fixed so Sunny could rest. To his surprise, it actually worked! Sunny, shocked, disbanded the snow clouds and collapsed onto the flooring of the truck. She had definitely worked herself too hard, especially since she hadn’t fully recovered. Kris picked Sunny up and walked out of the truck, meeting up with Kai and Eli. The driver was being examined by a few paramedics, and thankfully, he wasn’t injured. One of the paramedics saw Sunny, unconscious, and took her under his wing right away to help her. Nothing was wrong, she was only very stressed and tired.

Kai looked up at the sky as the snow fell. It always fell only above their hideout. Sunny had the power to control weathers and despite her name, she loved the winter. Kai sighed as he climbed the ladder and up into the treehouse. “Snow again? Can’t we have a little sun every now and then? Heck, even rain will do.” Kai said while sighing once more.

By now, a large crowd had gathered around the scene and watched everything that happened. They praised the four kids for their efforts and powers. Eli smiled at the sight. This was exactly what he had wanted back on that long night in his room a year ago.

Prologue Kai, Kris, Sunny, and Eli have been put down and hurt their whole lives. Why is this? It’s because they’re different from other humans. They have special powers and could be considered “monsters.” Out of their spite and hatred, they’ve decided to change the world. They wish to make it a place where anyone could be accepted, despite being different. Maybe changing the whole world is too hard, but they definitely want to at least try changing some of it. Join the four as they continue to develop ideas for this goal and find out if they’ll actually achieve such an exotic objective.

Epilogue The four never changed the world, it was unlikely from the start. However, they were able to change their small town and had come to a realization. A realization that they don’t need approval from other’s as long as they have each other and their families. Shortly after, the group disbanded. They still hung out and played in the treehouse, all that changed was their motive. They still wished for the world to change, but they weren’t as focused anymore. Eli dedicated his life to martial arts after it all, he wanted to work on his stealth. He became a professional martial artist and got married to a girl named Kelly. Sunny grew up to become a meteorologist, using her power to her advantage. She never got married, and gave her all to the science field. Kris stopped playing with black magic and decided to just play with more normal magic. He became a professional, and famous, magician. Kris also never got married, since he isn’t interested in love or anything of the sort. Kai did something that most people might not have Page 17

never really shared with others. Kai decided to follow that pathway and became a choreographer. One time while teaching a dance class in South Korea, he met a man that he eventually married. He had also gotten surgery and removed his prophet eye, replacing it with a glass eye. The government got hold of it and were able to prevent a lot of tragedies from happening.
