Just some of our clients' thoughts on our services below - read more at www.pc-help-4u.co.uk/testimonials "Many thanks for a swift rebuild on our pc we are very satisfied with the service from you, our pc is like new we would highly recommend your company to any user with a problematic PC." - Maureen Szirbik, Buckingham "Our desktop computer went into terminal decline with a failed hard drive. We called PChelp4U who diagnosed the problem and supplied a new desktop complete with the data they had managed to recover from the old hard drive. This was done within a few days and works perfectly. We have no hesitation in recommending PChelp4U who were helpful, courteous, and very efficient." - John & Sue Whetter, Buckingham "I have no interest in technology and have no wish to understand it. I know I need to have it and use it in the modern world. PChelp4U came in, took away my old laptop, saved all my files, recommended a new laptop, transferred all my files but without all the bugs and problems I had been experiencing. They gave me training to use a new system. They take the stress out of it all. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They are very, very good at what they do and I would never use anyone else. 12 months later - everything works like a dream!" - Ruth Ash, Buckingham "My home office workstation has served me well over the past 5 years, and I had two choices, buy a new one and transfer the data, or give my PC a new lease of life. I decided to go for the latter (I have a fear transferring data and as a transport conversion engineer I have some very valuable work) and saw PChelp4U in the MK18 business services magazine and contacted them. Ben was my sole contact and provided a service, whereby he took away my machine and returned it three days later - absolutely first class. My laptop will be next I suspect. I have no reservations in recommending PChelp4U. Thank you." - Brian Eldridge, Buckingham

Cloudy2Clear, A Local Family Service With A Smile I think we can all agree that the sooner we see the back of 2020 and this dreadful Corona Virus the better. That said, there are also some heart warming positives that we can take out of this situation. It has often been said that we can only really get to know one another and realise what is truly important in times of crisis. I think few would argue that in this case what has proven to be important is local community spirit and family. When talking to Trevor & Wendy Skidmore the owners of Cloudy2Clear Northampton & Oxford it became clear that these

values have been held for over 13 years. Since buying the local franchise in 2006 they have remained true to their core values of supporting the local community whilst introducing their 2 sons Lloyd & Ross into the family business along with Dan, Mark & Jo as demand for their service has grown.

H ave yo u u p d a t e d yo u r w i l l l a t e ly ? Good! You have set up a will to safeguard your loved ones, but even after you’ve signed your name, life events and circumstances will continue to change around you. As a rule of thumb, many solicitors advise that wills should be reviewed and updated every three to five years to remain relevant. When should I update my will? There have been changes to family members and relationships Births, deaths, marriages and divorces should trigger a need to update a will. Always ensure that the correct people are named on your most current will and people whom you no longer want to include in your will are taken off. Updating your will is especially important if you are remarrying as your previous will is automatically invalidated. You’ve bought a home or business Buying a home or business adds to your asset

portfolio, which is included in your estate upon your death. Having a will in place that states how these assets are to be distributed can help with effective tax planning. There have been changes to tax laws From time to time, new tax and probate laws are brought in by governing bodies. It is good practice to check if any of these new laws affect your estate and management thereof. Additionally, if you move to a new country, certain laws can impact differently. For more information about creating a will or updating an existing will, please contact Emma Rolfe, Solicitor at Spratt Endicott Solicitors on 01869 222315 or email erolfe@se-law.co.uk.

T h e D a r l i n g B u d s o f M a y. . . We’ve always known that gardening is therapeutic, and it has been especially so during this past year. If I feel out of sorts, I like to make a cup of tea and wander around my borders and spot new things – a burst of tree blossom, unfurling acer leaves or maybe a tray of germinating seedlings, says Buckingham Garden Centre’s Chris Day.

Virtual Chelsea Flower

Show The month of May is my favourite gardening month – the garden changes daily and provides many exciting developments with the delights of so much colour and interest to enjoy. However, there are 10% DISCOUNT for over 70’s

still plenty of tasks to be getting on with. Later this month there will be another Virtual Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show to enjoy online. One part of this was filmed at the beginning of April on the Malvern Garden Buildings’ showsite here at Buckingham Garden Centre. However, unlike last year there should be a traditional Chelsea flower show with plants, gardens and personalities but delayed until September. This is the first time in RHS history that the show has moved from being an annual fixture in May, so we should have a double treat this year!

Wallflowers from Mr

Fothergill’s seeds SOW seeds of biennials this month to flower in the spring and early summer of 2022. Most, like Bellis, the ever-popular double daisy, Foxgloves, Honesty, Poppies, Violas and Wallflowers, pictured, can be sown directly in the ground outside. Choose a sunny position with good, well-drained soil. Sow thinly, at a depth of 13mm (1/2 inch) in rows 30cm (12 inches) apart. Cover the seed with fine soil and water in well. Do this and you’ll save £££s on buying plants next year.

PREPARE the ground where the vegetables are to be planted if this has not been done already. It is important to clear away any weeds and grass. If the area has not been used to grow crops before it would be advisable to apply a general fertiliser such as Growmore to help give the new crop the best possible start. If you have an existing vegetable plot, it is important to plan your vegetable garden now so you don’t end up planting things in the same place as last year. Keep sowing and planting out young vegetable plug plant on a regular basis to ensure cropping continuity through the rest of the year. Make the most of the space available in your vegetable garden by sowing quick-growing crops, such as salads, between

young longer-term residents, such as brassicas while they are establishing. As we head towards the end of the month it should be safe to plant out in a warm, sunny location your tender vegetables such as Tomatoes, ridge Cucumbers, Sweet Potatoes and Peppers. Have some fleece handy to cover them just in case Jack Frost is forecast to return.

Packs of colour themed packs

PLANT tender summer bedding plants, such as Begonias, Marigolds and Petunias, which should be safe outside but as with your tender vegetables, keep an eye on the weather and cover with fleece if frost is forecast. When buying plants, look for ones that are green and bushy, with plenty of flower buds rather than open blooms. Need some inspiration? Look out for the colour themed packs for pots and baskets, pictured, including the ever-popular ‘Pop-in’ units for both containers and baskets, together with upright and trailing Fuchsias and Pelargoniums. Dig over the ground before you plant, removing any weeds. Give the bedding plants a thorough soak with water and then plant them at the distance recommended on the label or seed packet.

Poppy forge support system

BULB CARE Look after your spring bulbs so that they will be ready to flower again next year. Once they have gone over, resist the temptation to cut back the foliage. Instead, let it die and break down on its own and whilst this is happening apply all around the clumps a granular feed such as Sulphate of Potash or a liquid fertiliser such as Phostrogen. This will give you an even better display next spring. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of daffodils and other spring-flowering bulbs. Your summer tubers, corms and bulbs such as Dahlias, Gladioli and Liliums as well as taller growing perennials such as Delphiniums (pictured) and Hollyhocks will require some staking as the plants develop their flowering stems. To keep these secure, use a simple cane and tie or one of the perennial staking products such as the Poppy Forge support system which is available at the Garden Centre.

Lawn cutting general

ROUTINE Cover any slightly tender plants with fleece at night. Don’t forget to water any newly planted plants. Cover the emerging shoots of potatoes with soil. Doing this helps to prevent light reaching the tubers. If they are exposed to light, they turn green because of an increase in chlorophyll, which makes them have a high level of glycoalkaloid toxins. May is a good time to trim evergreen hedges, such as Lonicera, Box and Yew; it will get their edges looking crisp and neat. Small hedges can be trimmed with shears, but larger hedges are best tackled with a hedge trimmer. It is illegal to disturb nesting birds, so be sure to check the hedges for signs of nests before you start the job. The grass will be growing strongly as the weather warms up. Cut the lawn once a week if possible, as most mowers struggle to cut grass if it gets too long. A quick trick to get it looking smart if you don’t have time to mow is to cut the lawn edges. If you haven’t already fed your lawn, there’s still time to apply a granular weed, feed and mosskiller. Optimise your watering regime in the garden - watering early and late to get the most out of your water — and start collecting and recycling water whenever possible.

Applying continuous release

fertiliser POTS on the patio or deck will need some TLC. Start by topdressing permanent pot plants to refresh the compost. Use a multi-purpose peat-free compost for most planters, but remember you’ll need ericaceous compost for your lime-hating potted plants such as Camellias, Pieris and fruiting Blueberries. Your soil will be hungry so apply either a granular fertiliser such as Miracle-Gro Continuous Release, which will last in the soil for many months, or opt to apply a balanced liquid feed such as Liquid Growmore or Miracle-Gro All Purpose Liquid or Soluble every 2 weeks to help promote healthy growth. Inspect plants for pests and diseases — early prevention is much easier than curing an infestation. Vine weevil and slugs tend to cause most issues in pots so look at the use of nematodes to help control the pests safely and in an environmentally friendly way.

Dividing perennials

BORDERS Continue to weed beds and borders. This reduces the competition for water and nutrients for your plants. Continue dividing herbaceous border perennials such as Asters, Hostas and Salvia as they come into growth to improve vigour and create new plants. If you are l ooking for a new Hosta or two, check out our fantastic range at the Garden Centre. After they’ve flowered trim back spreading plants such as Aubrieta, Alyssum and Candytuft to encourage fresh new growth and further blooms. Lift Forget-me-nots to prevent heavy self-seeding thus reducing their spread. Prune penstemons now and providing that there is new growth at the bottom of the plant cut all the old shoots back to the base. after they’ve flowered. If there are no new shoots at the base, cut just above the lowest set of leaves. Take softwood cuttings of shrubby herbs (such as Sage and Lemon Verbena). Root them in a pot of gritty compost and keep on a sunny windowsill.

Press Release from Buckinghamshire Council

Put your best foot forward with ‘Simply Walk’.

In the picture: Simply walkers enjoying the beautiful Hambleden Valley yesterday (21 April), an area which featured in last Sunday’s (18 April) episode of Countryfile on BBC1. Simply Walk, Buckinghamshire Council’s free health walking scheme, has made a welcome return following the latest Coronavirus relaxations that came into force as part of the national roadmap to recovery. And so far, more than 100 walkers have been out and about every day enjoying various walks across Buckinghamshire and the council say more are welcome to join in. As well as exercise and fresh air, walks are also very social, allowing people to make new friends and enjoy being outdoors. As in previous lockdowns, many walkers have been isolated for months from their walking friends, but this time, made so much worse by the long, dark winter months. Now, with the better weather and easing of coronavirus restrictions, the chance to get out, stretch your legs and enjoy socially distanced walking with others could be just the tonic!

Buckinghamshire Council’s Fiona Broadbent, coordinator of the Simply Walk scheme, gave full credit to the ongoing enthusiasm, support and fortitude of the army of 274 volunteers who help lead and support all the walks. “Its been a difficult and testing time for them all, but they are no less passionate about what they do to help everyone enjoy walking,” she said. “As we emerge from the latest lockdown, there’s no better way to get active and get fitter by joining one of our organised walks. After all, they are free to attend, designed to suit all walking abilities and offer the chance to see parts of Buckinghamshire that you’ve possibly never seen before,” she added. Ian Thompson, the Council’s Corporate Director for Planning, Growth and Sustainability added: “As our organised group walks are categorised as outdoor physical activity, they are allowed under the Email: inbusinessmags@gmail.com

latest guidance. However, although we’re outdoors, walk leaders have put extra measures in place to reduce the risks of COVID-19. “You don’t need any special equipment to join in, just a pair of comfortable shoes. And with walking programmes operating all year, including weekends and a variety of walk lengths and locations, there’s never been a better time to start your ‘simply walk’ adventure.” More information can be found on our Simply Walk webpage. The Council is also on the lookout for more volunteers to lead walking groups, so if you want to make a difference and enjoy yourself at the same time, please get in touch by calling 01494 475367 or email simplywalks@buckinghamshire. gov.uk.
