Replace handlebar tape
The handlebar tape of a bicycle will wear out over time. Replacing the handlebar tape is very easy with the tips from this article. This way you can give your bike its own look or choose a different type of material. At this moment you have the choice of cork, rubber and plastic handlebar tapes. There is also a difference in the thickness of the handlebar tape. The handlebar tape puts you in seven simple steps:
1. First remove the old handlebar tape 2. Then clean the steering wheel with petrol, so that there are no longer any old glue residues. This ensures better adhesion of the new handlebar tape. 3. Do the brake cables come under the handlebar tape? Then stick it to the handlebar with tape. 4. Slide the rubbers of the brake levers upwards from the brake. 5. Stick a piece of handlebar tape over the mounting brackets of the brake levers, so that the handlebars will soon be completely covered. 6. Now it's time to apply the handlebar tape to the handlebars. Go behind the wheel and wrap the handlebar tape from the inside out on the handlebars. So the right-hand side of the handlebars wrap around the wheel clockwise. 7. You start at the bottom of the caps and turn the handlebar tape once around the wheel. Make sure there is enough handlebar tape left to put in the handlebars. 8. When unrolling, keep the handlebar tape tight and ensure that the handlebar tape overlaps a bit with each wrapper. 9. With the brake levers you apply the handlebar tape crossed. Because you have already placed a piece of handlebar tape over the brake calipers, you also get a full overlap here. After you have done this, the brake levers can be pushed back again. 10. Then wrap the handlebar tape to the top of the handlebars. Cut off the handlebar tape and secure it with a piece of tape. Turn the piece of tape around the wheel several times so that it is securely fastened.
11. Finally, push the end of the handlebar tape into the handlebars and put the steering caps back on the handlebars. 12. Your bike is ready for use again!
