Dear Friends,

On behalf of Best Buddies Wisconsin Advisory Board, Champion of the Year committee, Champions, and our volunteers, we are so appreciative of you, your presence, and your generosity in supporting our Champions and the Best Buddies Mission!

And because of you, Best Buddies has been able to make a difference in the lives and friendships for individuals with and without intellectual developmental disabilities in Wisconsin. We accomplish our mission through the spirit of inclusion focusing on one-to-one friendships,

integrated employment, leadership development and inclusive living for tens of thousands of participants in schools, business, and communities.

Our nine 2022 Champions and their coaches have been working tirelessly over the past few months to raise awareness and donations for our Best Buddies Wisconsin chapter. All of their and your generosity goes a long way in growing our reach to new schools, new jobs, and new programs. The need is great, but our passion is greater!

So tonight, as you have a chance to meet our Champions, please thank them for making their commitment and the passion they have for this special community. Thank you, again, for making tonight so special for so many!!

2022 Van Handel Spirit of Inclusion Award

Denise MacLeod

Denise MacLeod, manager and Graphic Designer of Print Services for Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, has always given her time and talents to community organizations like the YMCA Junior Enlisted Family Center and the local Humane Society.

About 4 years ago the Vice President of Froedtert’s Supply Chain, Ed Hardin, asked leaders at Froedtert to volunteer for the Best Buddies Friendship Walk planning committee. This was just the volunteer opportunity Denise was looking for and Best Buddies in Wisconsin was lucky to have her!

In 2019 Denise joined the committee for the 2020 walk. Each year Denise took on more responsibilities and provided opportunities for others from Froedtert to join the committee and volunteer. In 2022, Denise was the Chair of the Committee and Friendship Walk. With her leadership, the event was a huge success bringing in over $90,000.00 to support Best Buddies in Wisconsin.

Denise generously volunteers her talents and always helps with Best Buddies creative materials (including this program and the signage you see around you this evening).

Denise plans on continuing to support and volunteer at Best Buddies and the Friendship Walk for years to come. We could not have found more worthy recipient for the 2022 Van Handel Spirit of Inclusion award.

Enjoy the beautiful lands of Halter Wildlife in Pleasant Prairie WI. Trails, scenic rivers, ponds, marshes, and a wildlife sanctuary make up this historic place. The package is complete with a guided pheasant hunt for three (3).

Halter Wildlife pheasant hunting package is hosted by JFG Chief Financial Officer, Mark Behrens, on Friday, December 16, 2022.

The hunt includes 3-4 hours with an experienced guide and hunting dogs. Typical hunts result in 20-30 birds. You get to take home hunted pheasant meat to include sausage, full pheasant, pheasant soup, breast meat, and more!

Hunt includes a delicious lunch and drinks at the lodge.

Auction Rules and Procedures

LIVE AUCTON

The Live Auction will begin on Thursday, November 3, 2022, and continue until all items are sold. The auctioneer will determine all aspects of the Live Auction, including resolving questions of priority and procedures, and may correct or modify the order of description of any item prior to its sale. The auctioneer’s decision on all matters will be final. Bidders shall signify their bids by raising their bid through GiveSmart service accessed with your own smartphone. GiveSmart Staff members will digitally confirm the winning bid.

SILENT AUCTION

All of the Silent Auction bidding will be conducted through the GiveSmart service, accessed with your own smartphone or through text messaging. GiveSmart support staff will also be on hand to ensure a pleasant bidding experience.

The dollar values and descriptions of items lists provided by the items’ donor and are not warranted by Best Buddies International for tax purposes. The values of all items are established by the donor, according to fair market value. Please consult your tax advisor for income tax deductions.
