When we asked Camacho to create a cigar exclusively for us, they sent a batch of test sticks for us to peruse. In what has to be the best part of the job, we sat around sampling the various tobacco blends, noting what we liked and didn’t like about each stick. There were no bands, no accompanying information, just the cigars and us. While each had its own positives and very few negatives, one stood out as the clear winner. We chose the San Marco name, ordered up a few hundred boxes and the rest, as they say, is history. Since it’s made only for BestCigarPrices.com, we were able to price San Marco far lower than Camacho would if they were taking it to mass market. For less than $4 per stick you get a spicy medium-bodied stogie with hints of sweet cedar and caramel. It’s light on the lips but hearty on the palate, with a nice earthy foundation that’s properly balanced with all the other flavor elements for a complex and truly satisfying smoke.

It’s two cigars in one! These new stogies from La Gloria Cubana are doublewrapped, with the first third sheathed in a Connecticut leaf and the remainder cloaked in a Maduro wrapper. As we all learned in cigar class, the wrapper makes up the majority of a cigar’s taste. The changeover from light to dark wrapper is very detectable when smoking it -- you’d notice with your eyes closed. As you might have guessed, the first third is medium-bodied, subtly spicy and creamy overall. Cross the line into Maduro territory and this cigar really ramps up the rich tobacco strength and spice. Cigar 101: Proper Cigar Storage Your cigar collection is doomed to lose its luster if not properly stored in a humidor. Don't worry, it's pretty easy. Do yourself a favor and shell out a few bucks for a cedar-lined, specially-crafted home for your smokes and you'll be golden. All you really need to do is keep an eye on your hygrometer, which will tell you the temperature and humidity level of your humidor. Stay around 70'F and 70% humidity and your cigars will store and age properly. When humidity drops, simply refill your humidification unit.

ou've probably seen all sorts of makeshift humidors, from the classic Tupperware container to the cooler filled with plastic bags. Will those methods work? Sort of, but only if you're very attentive. We prefer to spend most of our cigar hobby time smoking and not baby-sitting, so we highly recommend a proper humidor to store your smokes. There are countless models, from small desktop boxes that hold 20 or 50 cigars, to humidors that are practically furniture, holding thousands. Here's what to look for: • Spanish cedar lining (regulates moisture) • Good seal (not air-tight, but close to it) • Accessories (some humidors come with setup kits) Remember to season your humidor before use. he only real maintenance required in humidor and cigar ownership is to make sure your humidity and temperature are remaining consistent. For starters, aim for the classic "70/70" formula (70' F and 70% humidity). After a while, some folks develop their own standard, opting for 75/75 or 65/65 depending on taste and climate. As long as you keep it in the ballpark, you're doing fine. Just make sure you have a proper hygrometer to monitor the situation.

epending on your local climate, humidors should stay at proper humidity levels for weeks or months. If you're monitoring the environment inside your humidor as outlined in step 2, you'll know exactly when to introduce more humidity. When your hygrometer indicates your moisture levels are falling, there are several ways to get things back to normal.
