She puts the question “Is how I am today a reflection of my upbringing or has my ancestral history played a part?” A Backspace Gallery exhibition. Art Gallery of Ballarat 40 Lydiard St Nth
The Ballarat Belles is a diverse group of women who see our lives as positive, productive and golden. The idea of reawakening and the importance of deep appreciation for the often overlooked has inspired us to create new work that showcases what glitters for us. We challenge the viewer to look more closely, noticing the beauty in minutiae & finding gold in the small things. Opening Sat 16 Dec 11:30am. Art Space Ballarat 14 Lydiard St Nth

ANGELA BRENNAN: TÊTE-À-TÊTE & VIS-À-VIS
Brennan works predominantly in painterly abstraction to depict elements of an inner world. Her immersive paintings invite the viewer into her universe: a state of introspection, contemplation & feeling expressed through colour & form. Brennan’s two-room installation will include a new series of large-scale abstract paintings and a sculpture inspired by a 19thcentury-style conversation couch owned by the Gallery which she became acquainted with when visiting the Gallery as a teenager. These works connect with the moments in her life where experiences of different places have held and healed her. They include woven and 3D works, shields, masks and hanging works made from natural materials such as paperbark and feathers. Art Gallery of Ballarat 40 Lydiard St Nth

SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

25 NOV - 3 DEC
SHAKESPEARE'S CAESAR
Presented by Ballarat National Theatre
Caesar is known by many to be generous, powerful, a brilliant tactician, and a wise leader. He is also known to be ambitious. Some Romans look to an old custom; when one man seeks to make himself a king, it is every citizen's responsibility to see him dead. Julius Caesar is one of Shakespeare's more unique plays; a story without a clear hero or villain, where the tension comes from the political backdrop of the Roman Republic's final days. A political thriller that tells the story of the conspiracy against Caesar, his assassination and the defeat of his conspirators. Tix: hermaj.com
