Industrial Excellence

The professional choice for Portable Dust and Fume Extraction Best Practice is extremely proud to feature VAF Air Ltd with the highly prestigious Commitment to Excellence profile. Paired with sister company Miniveyor Products Ltd, VAF Air are specialist suppliers of confined space equipment to a globally diverse industry base. They have distributed vane axial fans and ventilators to the European market since the mid 1990’s, and their Miniveyor Air range of blowers has now been established as a leading brand worldwide. The combination of dependable power and practical design makes the VAF Air and Miniveyor Air fans and ventilators the professional choice for portable dust and welding fume extraction. As they are stackable, less storage space is taken up, and large handles enable effortless manoeuvrability. Anti-skid rubber feet ensure steady operation, and the rugged build of the machines means they are durable and weather resistant. The double walls are made from high density polythene, meaning the products can absorb bangs frequently experienced with industrial use, eliminating costly maintenance procedures. “Standard ventilators typically don’t last very long in the workplace,” Darracq Shawe, Director of VAF Air Ltd, explained. “Metal bodied fans tend to dent easily when knocked, so they will need replacing. The plastic moulded fans here at VAF Air

2

are highly resistant so they can last a much longer time. Additionally, all of the parts are replaceable so if anything does get damaged then they can be changed easily.” The portable and reliable fans and blowers are both safe and suitable for use in confined spaces. Where fumes, smells or dust occur, the axial fans can extract contaminated air out of the building, and blow fresh, clean air into a workspace. The VAF series range has recently been extended with the introduction of the VAF-200C Canister blower. This innovative extractor houses 7.5metres of flexible duct in a canister which can neatly be clipped on to the fan body, and the machinery can be carried to the job site with great ease. The specialist ventilator company have

recently obtained a bigger presence in the USA, after the establishment of a new warehouse and office in Miami. This expansion is a testament to their prominence in the industry, and the company are set to continue with this incredible growth through the advancement of product lines and the acquirement of new associations across the globe. “We are always aiming to develop new products which will further complement our range,” Darracq said. “In terms of future plans, we are keen to increase our dealer network both in the UK and overseas.”

MARK full feature compressor aids engineering facility MERU is a unique organisation producing bespoke disability equipment solutions for children. Upgrading their production facility, they required an improved compressed air set up which lead them to our MARK full feature unit. Making a difference MERU was founded as a charity by a design engineer, William Bond, and an orthopaedic surgeon, Trefor Llewelyn-Bowen, who were concerned at the lack of equipment facilities for disabled children. They saw that many disabilities were so complex that no available ‘off-the-shelf’ equipment met their needs. Working towards solutions is still the driving vision at MERU and the result has seen innovative results, among them a powered indoor chair called The Bugzi. This allows severely disabled children to move themselves around at an early age, substituting the ‘crawling’ or ‘early walking’ stages in a child’s development. Compressed air needs With an ever rising number of projects

and the increasing need for a higher production output, MERU’s Epsom design offices and workshops were in need of more compressed air. Moreover, the installation of a new CNC machine entailed some specific requirements. Pure and dry air was a must, but a reliable and continuous air supply became vital since any interruptions would mean a complete re-set of the CNC machine. Bifold’s 48hr despatch

Bifold has recently moved to larger premises in Chadderton and so have been able to develop many different initiatives due to their expansion within the factory and growing workforce. The initiative that has the biggest impact for customers is that Bifold now has the capability to deliver products, configured and built to order within 48 hours. Bifold’s modular approach to product design and extremely efficient build and test processes have afforded increasing levels of flexibility as to the number of valve types that can be assembled and tested with very short lead times. Training Excellence

Dedicated BOAS Training for Managers by EMK Educational & Environmental Services Limited EMK is a small but dynamic training organisation whose specialist area is Industrial Steam and Pressurised Hot Water Boiler Operation for which it offers the CEA BOAS qualification. EMK’s objective, in its flagship training course, is to prevent boiler plant managers from going to jail because they don’t realise what their jobs fully entail and how vulnerable they are. Implicit in the philosophy of this training is that if managers don’t go to jail then nobody got killed or injured. Mike Cogan, Head of Engineering Training at EMK, discussed the matter with BOAS assessor David Graham as well as with other BOAS assessors. David was highly critical of the quality of many of the candidates which he assessed. Some of his observations are interesting to quote, for example: “Many of them don’t even know what their job is” and “Many managers are extremely vulnerable and in need of specialised and focused training.” BOAS courses catering for groups comprising both operators and managers have been available for some time. However, while the managers always enjoyed

serious and expressions stern. It became very clear that the trainees were not doing their jobs and they knew it.

(Pictured) Mike Cogan, Head of Engineering Training at EMK

these ‘mixed’ courses, the big disadvantage was that because they enjoyed the courses, they felt they were beneficial to them in their managerial role. But the fact is the courses did not benefit them in those managerial aspects where they were most vulnerable. They needed training which was more focused on their legal responsibilities? During the Dedicated Management

Courses delivered so far, two clearly identifiable stages in the training have emerged. The delegates were particularly keen to improve their technical and operational knowledge so that they could more effectively oversee and manage the running of the boiler plant. They were quite open about their lack of nuts, bolts and valves knowledge and, in this initial stage, clearly enjoyed learning that part of the syllabus and said so. The mood at this stage was very cheerful and even light. During the next stage, however, when being probed about the details of operational and emergency procedures required under the PSSR and the risk assessments required to support them there was a marked change of mood. The mood became very

A part of the Management section of the course was to review operating procedures as a group activity. The activity took on a life of its own and the course members burst into furious activity and actually wrote up several procedures which were in need of review together with the necessary risk assessments. They worked late. On the following morning, the atmosphere was almost euphoric; the guys were on a high. They were learning something really important. They had embarked upon a crucial review of their management systems in general. In short they got stuck into doing their job during the course once they learned what it was. One trainee’s comment was “This has really opened my eyes.” The assessor commented of the trainees afterwards that “They tore their old management systems apart.”

Cogan says that all managers should be trained in what they have to do and it is for this reason that he has developed BOAS training courses specifically focused for boiler plant managers and not shared with operators so that managers’ needs are at the core. By doing so, Cogan says, managers can be in an environment focused on what their jobs truly entail; fully appreciate the extent of their responsibilities and the mantle they are taking on when they accept the BOAS DipBOM (Diploma in Boiler Operation Management) certificate. Pooling Partners achieves 10th yearon-year Double-Digit growth in the UK

IPP Logipal, part of Pooling Partners, Europe’s number one in pallet pooling and production, last year achieved its tenth successive year of double-digit growth since its inception in 2005. “2014 has been another great year for Pooling Partners in the UK & Ireland with double-digit growth once again achieved,” commented Carl McInerney, Country Director, IPP Logipal UK & Ireland, part of Pooling Partners, when discussing this accomplishment. “This not only reflects the rising demand for smart pallet solutions but also our concerted focus on exceeding our customers’ service expectations over the past decade. “Our team in the UK has earned a strong reputation for customer service excellence and it has established win/win relationships with customers. This has resulted in more customers using Pooling Partners’ services than ever before.” It appears that the advantages of utilising Pooling Partners’ services are incredibly wide-ranging. Striving to minimise the energy required to produce pallets and using transport legs wherever possible emphasises the company’s continued commitment to operating

economically and sustainably, remaining considerate of any environmental effects. Additionally, prices are transparent and competitive, and reliability, sturdiness and practicality are guaranteed, as the pallets are incredibly robust and highly convenient. Pooling Partners’ main clients are in the FMCG, retail, recycling, industrial and electronic markets, but they also work to fulfil the requirements of companies operating in logistics and commerce. Because they have secured such a solid pallet network (10,000 pooling stations functioning all over Europe), they work with the largest brands in grocery and retail in the UK and Ireland as well as hundreds of small-to-medium-size logistics companies. The company has recently continued to invest heavily in its dense pooling network for the collection and supply of pallets in order to reduce transport miles, a corporate responsibility which is considered a high priority at the firm. This concentrated focus on expansion resulted in more than one million brand new pallets being manufactured and added to stock in 2014, and the extension of its repair facilities ensures that pallet quality throughout its life cycle is guaranteed. Further developments came in the form of new products, launched after receiving great feedback from initial introductions in Germany. Pooling Partners subsequently promoted their award-winning

Q Pick – Affordable and bespoke picking system now available Tom. “Q-Pick’s design makes it a very durable product which we know that the industry will welcome.” The easiest way to organise & pick your stock Sort. Find. Grow. In the simplest terms, this is what Q Pick allows you to do. Sort your inventory, find what you need quickly and effectively grow your business with efficient order handling and fulfilment. The fact that the system grows as your business does means that the sky is the limit! From reducing the time it takes to find an item to lowering the effort of picking orders for despatch, Q Pick allows you to work quicker, smarter and more effectively.

Is your order picking system lacking? Have you ever found picking and fulfilling your websites orders to be difficult and time consuming? Is your workshop in a mess? Does your warehouse have lots of racking but not much usable storage? Do you just want an attractive, easy way to store and organise your inventory?

damaged. Other systems utilise expensive and heavy plastic or metal bins that eventually lose their order due to the different sizes and makes of bins. At the higher end of the market, fully customisable bespoke picking systems have been out of the reach of many businesses often costing tens of thousands of pounds.

If your answer to any of the above questions is yes, then you need Q Pick. A revolution in order picking systems and storage, Q Pick (the ‘quick picking system’) has been developed to revolutionise the operations of small and large businesses alike. From small scale ecommerce businesses to large operations manufacturing and distributing thousands of parts, practically anyone can benefit from integrating the Q Pick picking system into their operations.

GWP Group, makers of Q-Pick, spotted this gap in the market and have designed Q-Pick. The system consists of an outer casing made from modular sections that can be stacked securely on top of each other, or joined together horizontally to an overall size that suits the needs of the user. The contrasting coloured internal bins fit neatly into the outer casing and have dividers to make various sized compartments more suited to specific items. The Q-Pick system costs a fraction of the cost of a traditional bespoke picking system but provides all the same benefits.

Why Q Pick is different Traditionally order fulfilment systems have consisted of cardboard picking bins that, whilst cheap, are easily

Q-Pick was the idea of GWP’s product designer, Tom Wilkie who expects the system to be popular with all types of businesses. “We know from our research that bespoke picking systems have until now been just too expensive for most businesses so they have had to make do with cardboard equivalents that soon wear out,” said

Sort Regardless of what you hold in stock, you can now organise it much more efficiently with Q Pick. From nuts and bolts to computer software, T Shirts to stationary, whatever your business sells you can organise it effortlessly thanks to Q Picks’ clever design. The individual bins or ‘drawers’ can be sub divided with insert bins to allow for further sorting of your stock, whilst also making the system ideal for both large and very small items alike. Plus it doesn’t matter whether your inventory is a handful of items or many thousands of parts, thanks to Q Pick being expandable to the size that is perfect for you. Find With your inventory carefully sorted and safely stored in the Q Pick system, you can quickly and easily find what you were looking for. Reduce the time it takes to pick individual orders from your ecommerce website, or find the crucial component for your manufacturing operations more quickly. Whatever you do, Q Pick can help. As well as streamlining operations and reducing time spent picking (in turn reducing the associated costs), Q Pick also allows for much easier manual checking of stock levels ‘at a glance,’ whilst keeping your workspace tidy and organised. Grow Unlike existing order picking solutions, Q Pick can be expanded at any point.

Being a fully modular system, the units can be stacked either vertically or joined horizontally, allowing you to create a bank of picking bins as large or small as you need. SO when your orders increase, you can simply add additional Q Pick units to your existing setup without any difficulty. This flexibility, when coupled with the

range of other benefits such as the low cost, durability and the time and effort saving it allows for, means that Q Pick is the only picking system you will ever need! Ecolab Contamination Control introduces new Product Labelling in response to CLP regulations Alpha Labs see them on page.............. II

Ecolab Contamination Control, a worldwide provider of leading products and services for the control of microbial contamination in the cleanroom environment, has updated labels and documentation for its entire fluid product range. This is an important step to meet changes to industry regulations which came into force on 1 June 2015. Ecolab notified their customers of this change in December to ensure compliance with the Classification Labelling and Packaging Regulation (CLP), a European regulation based on recommendations from the UN initiative, Global Harmonised System for classification (GHS), aimed at standardising hazard labelling worldwide. These requirements are imposed on EU manufacturers by the European Commission and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).

From this date customers who purchase an un-supported or non-compliant product may be forced to make changes, or potentially cease production of their own products. ScrubAir Pipette Washer/ Dryer

Urine, Blood, Serum, Water, Filters & Solvents Analysis

Water conservation has become a topic of interest in modern lab design. And in keeping up with current market needs, Labconco researched lab water usage and discovered one major sink hole – glass pipette washing.

Established in 1980, Trace Laboratories was formed by NHS qualified clinical chemists Garry Carter and Peter Lapworth. Both partners had further specialised in toxicology, with particular reference to trace metal and trace organic analysis, with its obvious usefulness in the field of occupational health monitoring. This gives a great deal of experience and expertise in various interconnecting subjects. Peter Lapworth has now retired and is succeeded by Ruth Phillips.

Gallons upon gallons of tap water are poured down the drain as the common, siphon-style, pipette washers fill then drain repeatedly. When washing is complete, rinsing generally begins using deionized (DI) water – a very expensive solvent. After the time-consuming process of washing and rinsing, the pipettes must be carefully removed, sorted into drying baskets and placed in an oven overnight. Total elapsed time to wash and dry a single load of pipettes no more than 24 hours. Tapping into our experience of designing and manufacturing laboratory glassware washers, we decided to address this issue. Combining direct injection cleaning, scrubbing action of percolation and consistency of automation, we streamlined the washing process with considerably less water and substantially less time.

Trace Labs

Contamination Control has confirmed that it will not be altering any product formulations because of CLP. For this reason any changes only affect labelling and associated documentation.

The new ScrubAir™ Pipette Washer/ Dryer is a one-of-a-kind automated unit to wash and dry in one place. The durable, steel-constructed unit can wash, rinse and dry up to 60 pipettes with just the touch of a button. And it reduces water usage to as little as 12.5 for wash and rinse versus the 600L (at 2L/min) easily required for four hours of manual washing. At the completion of the wash and rinse cycles, forcedair drying is initiated through direct injection. Total elapsed time to wash and dry a load of pipets with the ScrubAir in just under five hours. This drops to 3.5 hours with the heated model.

The user-friendly interface has three flexible and lockable program cycles including options for both wash and dry duration and number of rinse cycles. The standard model is equipped with a single water inlet and pressurized air inlet. The heated model has an additional water inlet built in, giving the user the added ability to rinse with purified water. A previously labor-intensive, time-consuming and overall environmentally unfriendly process has been transformed into a fast, simple, environmentally friendly one. Users no longer need to babysit their pipettes. Press a button, walk away, and let the ScrubAir do the work.

After the introduction of the Control of Lead at Work act (1980) and the COSHH regulations, the business was set up with the central aim to offer a specialist service to the occupational health sector. Continued progression and a dedication to the field resulted in Trace Laboratories extending its capabilities in relation to analytical techniques; all of its services can be discussed with each client in order to reach a solution most appropriate for their individual requirements, and all partners welcome the opportunity to discuss these matters. The company’s competencies include atomic absorption spectroscopy, gas-liquid and high pressure liquid chromatographies, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry and ICP-MS; enabling the opportunity to undertake various tests in both trace metal and organic analyses. This includes all associated aspects, including

TRACE sampling and report generation. Inevitably, quality control and compliancy is of great significance to Trace Laboratories; invariably to provide exceptional services to those working across all sectors of the health care industry. Its client base includes the National Health Service, private practice, occupational health services and H.S.E appointed factory medical officers (spread around the world) and a large percentage of the work is carried out on behalf of the occupational health monitoring faction. To ensure absolute professionalism and excellence, Trace Laboratories has a stringent quality and inspection system in place. All operations are subject to meticulous checking procedures throughout all of the analytical, administrative and clerical processes, controlled by a wide-ranging internal and external quality assurance programs, including NEQAS (National External Quality Assurance Scheme) and TEQAS (Trace Element Quality Assurance Scheme), in which performance is excellent and results are available for discussion with clients if necessary. Innovative Technology for site based businesses

It can’t be difficult. It’s only cleaning These are words we’ve heard so often from both the public and from many new entrants to our own industry. Carpet and upholstery cleaning is fraught with very expensive pitfalls for the unwary. Without the right training, recognising the issues of cleaning, for example, a woven, wool pile Axminster as opposed to a tufted polypropylene carpet could turn out to be a very expensive example of ignorance and neglect. Our industry is forever changing. What was once Best Practice may not now be compatible with many more recent developments in dye and fibre technology, cleaning solution chemistry or carpet and fabric construction.

Drawing on over 16 years of hands-on experience of creating and growing a large contract cleaning company, CleanLink’s software was originally developed in the 1980’s. The software was re-developed for Windows in 1996 and has been continually enhanced ever since. CleanLink Software Ltd was established in 2006 and has steadily grown to become one of the UK’s leading suppliers of site management software. CleanLink’s award-winning software helps companies efficiently manage and grow their business on a site-by-site basis. The comprehensive functionality covers site, staff

& stock management; work scheduling; quality control and site risk assessments. There are optional modules including an HMRC-approved payroll system with workplace pensions, and there is a full invoicing module that interfaces with popular accounting systems. It also has interfaces into time and attendance systems. CleanLink’s award-winning mobile app is a very cost-effective means to improve your managers’ productivity on site without requiring a constant internet connection. Its web portal service provides a white-labelled hosted website with secure, shared web access to all your files & documents, creating a structured and professional facility for your clients and staff to locate and view essential files and documentation. Presenting the mobile app and portal to a potential client as part of a bid can be a deal-clincher! The company has also recently launched Site Master, a new web-based work scheduling and auditing application.

Tape application made easy Enimac is an innovative designer and producer of standard and custom tape application systems and solutions that can be integrated into production processes. Founded with over 40 years of experience in tape application and converting, their mission is to become an international reference point in the industry by providing customers with high quality equipment to suit their needs. The renowned company recently attended the IPACKIMA show which took place in Fieramilano on the 19 – 23 May 2015. The show was a major success for the company and they received a great deal of positive feedback for their ground-breaking machines. Martin Buerger, International Business Development & Export Manager at Enimac, commented: “IPACKIMA was another successful tradeshow for us. While international prospects were relatively few in the end, we did get strong interest from several different industries in Italy. We introduced two new tape applicator head prototypes; a tear tape applicator head and an applicator with liner rewind. Both were well received. We also officially announced our new distributor in the UK, Newtown.”

“After very positive initial customer feedback from early direct sales in the UK, we thought the time had come to seriously invest in the market with a local distributor. And after visiting Newtown, we knew we had found a very valuable partner. Their ‘providing solutions’ philosophy and upbeat style is very ‘Enimac.’ They have recently received our X-treme Light tape application system. Prospective UK clients can now touch and see our machine live without having to come to Italy.” Enimac was established in 2013 by Biemme Adesivi, a major tape distributor and converter in northern Italy serving clients since 1965. Never fully satisfied with the tape application machines offered on the market, Biemme began developing their own. After several years of testing and given early clients’ very positive feedback, Biemme decided to form a separate

With offices and production facilities based near Milan, Italy, the company has satisfied clients in Italy, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the UK, France, and South Korea. Enimac ships products worldwide and offers support for customers whenever and wherever needed. “Our goal is to provide customers the degree of automation that makes the most sense for them,” explained Martin. “Though our standard systems are mainly sold in the printing, packaging and graphic arts industries, we have also developed solutions for the electronics, furniture and automotive industries.” “Our systems use our patented ‘paste & cut’ technology that quickly and cleanly applies tape without the need for compressed air. This reduces maintenance costs and makes our machines very mobile: our standard systems can come to the work instead of having the work come to them. Steelcase re-opens London Worklife Patol follow up to Firex 2015 Ltd has had a successful and announces an 'Office Renaissance' Patol launch of the Securiton partnership and promoting the Aspirating Smoke Detector (ASD 535) at Firex 2015 in London. The interest in all Patol products was over whelming especially for the ASD 535 which has been added to the range of products available from Patol Ltd.

Steelcase, the world leader in the provision of high performance workplace solutions, celebrated the official re-opening of its newly designed WorkLife in London today. To mark the occasion, Steelcase held a ‘Power of Place’ event at which Steelcase’s Guillaume Alvarez, Senior Vice President Sales, EMEA and Bostjan Ljubic, Vice President Regional Sales, UK and Ireland revealed how UK businesses can seize the opportunity to trigger an ‘office renaissance’ to support worker engagement and wellbeing to increase organisational performance. According to Gallup’s ‘State of the global Workplace Report,’ worldwide 87% of employed people are ‘not engaged’ or ‘actively disengaged’ at work, which means that they’re emotionally disconnected from their workplaces and thus less likely to be productive. The report says that in the United Kingdom 83% of workers are ‘not engaged’ or ‘actively disengaged’ and

the resulting cost is high for countries as well as companies. In the UK, actively disengaged employees cost the country between £52billion and £70billion per year. Conversely, engaged employees are more productive, have lower turnover rates, lower absenteeism and drive higher profits – they’re what every organisation needs to thrive. www.solutions-steelcase.co.uk

The next generation of universal encoder system, U-ONE-SAFETY With U-ONE-SAFETY the specialist for robust encoder and drive technologies, Johannes Hübner Giessen, offers the next generation of the universal encoder system U-ONE to support machine builders and system operators in their endeavours to prevent accidents. When rectifying faults, setting up machines or performing test runs it is sometimes necessary to intervene in procedures when the machine is running, something that could pose a risk to the safety of operating personnel. Activating safety functions such as SafelyLimited Speed (SLS), Safe Direction (SDI) and Safely-Limited Position (SLP) permanently reduces these risks to safety. Certification facilitates simplified safety review With integrated dual channel architecture and internal crosschecking U-ONE-SAFETY is ideally

environmental regulations and standards. It is non-toxic to both aquatic and terrestrial life and it does not persist or bio-accumulate in the environment. “It is exciting to bring such a great range of products to the market with the capability to bind soil and sediment particles together in both aquatic and terrestrial environments. Clearflow is already taking environmental best practice to another level.”

The Clearflow products, which were developed in Canada with the Canadian Environment Assessment Agency, use organic, non-toxic compounds to remove suspended solids and contaminants attached to fine soil and sediment particles, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, metals and hydrocarbons. Clearflow offers a versatile range of silt control products that can be used to manage soil, sediments and water quality in a river catchment, as well as in industrial water treatment processes and dust control on construction sites. The revolutionary products have already been successfully deployed in Canada across a wide range of industries, including the removal of chlorides at a road-salting vehicle wash-point, recycling onsite water at a remote coal mine

Frog environmental will launch the Clearflow product range to the UK market with a presentation and series of practical demonstrations at Salix, frog environmental and cbec eco-engineering’s ‘Managing Wetlands, Rivers & Sediments Workshop’ on 8 July. and tackling algal blooms at a golf course. Stainless Steel Spiral Bakery Cooling Conveyor Lantmannen Unibake came to the conclusion that a direct replacement for the existing conveyor was not the best option and in conjunction with LAC Conveyor Systems and belt supplier Intralox, a new design, unique to the United Kingdom was developed that ‘lifted’ the conveyor off the floor, this created extra valuable storage space underneath the new system, transfers were reduced by three and finally there an incredible 30% increase in throughput.

ToHealth grows corporate client base through acquisition of Screenetics ToHealth Ltd announces that it has acquired Screenetics, a leading supplier of corporate health screenings and wellbeing services in the UK.

Lantmannen Unibake needed to replace an existing stainless steel spiral bakery cooling conveyor as it was reaching the end of its serviceable life

Lantmannen Unibake and LAC Conveyor Systems were able to utilise Intralox’s i-Drive belting system which has the capability of putting together many of the inclines, declines and straights of a conveyor system into a single run. This system reduced the number of transfers by three. It also allowed the overall length of the conveyor to be extended to 575m of belt length run over seventeen tiers, as opposed to a conventional spiral, still ensuring the required 35 minutes ambient air cooling time for products as the speed of the conveyor was increased, giving a 30% increase in throughput.

to the UK, providing a cost-effective treatment option that can be applied across a broad range of sectors to help protect water quality.

In the Corporate Health Assessments market, Screenetics is the leading challenger to BUPA and Nuffield Health. The company has an impressive roster of corporate clients including Unilever, Aviva and Capita, as well as a network of large intermediaries that broker its health and wellbeing services. The company also provides white-labelled screening services to a number of healthcare providers. which freed up floor space that was taken up by the original conveyor. Within the centre of the conveyor two floors were created allowing easier access to the system. The project value was in the region of £450,000. Vikings moved by Thorite Technology The world famous JORVIK Viking Centre is a ‘must-see’ for visitors to the city of York and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the UK. Visitors aboard ‘time capsules’ travel around a faithful reconstruction of York’s Viking streets as they were 1,000 years ago, experiencing the sounds, sights and smells of Viking life.

but fears of costly future repairs led to Thorite being approached to recommend a modern, energy-efficient replacement.

Parts of the attraction’s success are the complex animatronic characters that populate the shops and houses of the re-created Viking settlement. These moving and talking Norse-men and women are all powered by compressors supplied by Thorite. Thorite has been associated with JORVIK Viking

HSE reported that in 2013/2014 that 90% of slip trip and accidents happen when the floor is contaminated. Also, that there were more fatal and major incidents in this period. My own research indicates that nobody takes less than 7 days off following an accident. Surely it’s best practice to do all in our power to keep the warehouse clean.
