Inconsistencies are reduced where some suppliers may be judged compliant by one buyer but not another. CHAS also provides guidance on any weaknesses in a supplier's safety management, including how they can improve.

It is a complex and energy-intensive process, requiring high levels of manual intervention from well-trained, experienced operators. To remove water safely – without damaging critical product properties – requires significant capital investment. But once the plant is running, it can be difficult to increase capacity as demand grows. Composites UK launches new online Health & Safety Management System Composites UK, the Trade Association for the UK composites industry, have launched its new online health and safety management system (HSMS). The HSMS, developed in cooperation with HSE, has 2 parts: a public section with critical information relating to H&S in the composites sector with links to relevant documents and websites; and a members-only self-audit tool – health and safety made simple.

As chair of the HSE SiMPLC steering group (‘Safety in Manufacturing Plastics and Composites’), which has the overall aim of improving health and safety practice in the plastic and composite manufacturing industries, Composites UK has supported the initiative since its inception in 2010. gauges were brought together under the auspices of the TGN. Most of the tide gauges in the current TGN are bubbler systems. These consist of a metered flow of compressed air feeding through a supply tube to an underwater cylinder located well below the lowest tide level so it can measure the full tidal range.
