We hope you enjoyed your first edition of Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors! We’re sure it’s been a whirlwind moving out of summer vacation mode and back into the swing of the school year. Fall is one of our favorite seasons and we hope you’re ready for it! There are a lot of great events coming your way in our 2nd edition. Our favorite thing this month was having the opportunity to speak with the incredible businesses who make up your community. We were blown away by their commitment, pride, and their gratitude for you, their local patrons. We highly recommend reading their business profiles and the contributions from the experts. We picked up many tips and learned so much about the town’s history from these members of the community and how they have helped shape it. We want to say again what a pleasure it is to write for this magazine. We have enjoyed getting to know the local families and businesses as we interview them and learn their story. Last month we loved hearing from our readers who reached out to us. If you have a story to share with us, a person or family to highlight, a business to praise, or an event to showcase, make sure you send us and email or give us a call!

Dear Friends & Neighbors, Thank you for your calls and emails after receiving our Inaugural Edition of Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors magazine last month. Having lived in Newtown Square for nearly 25 years, I was not surprised to hear from so many, but did not expect the gratitude. That’s because we owe our thanks to the business leaders of Newtown Square who, by choosing to advertise in your magazine, demonstrate their commitment to us as Newtown Township residents who they want to meet. We have those business owners to thank for making it possible for Newtown Square to now have its own free monthly hometown magazine. I do hope you’ll express your gratitude to our advertising sponsors and that you will always try to “Shop Local” when you need a product or service offered by one of our magazine sponsors. Or that you might just want to call a magazine sponsor to thank them for their investment in Newtown Square families and residents like you who now receive this monthly magazine. This month we introduce The Quinn Family as our Newtown Square resident feature cover story, and also to a Local Star you may not yet know, Carol Kaplan Ruark, Director of Garrett Williamson. Our business profile feature is fourth generation roofing company owner, Kevin O’Donnell of O’Donnell Roofing Co. Check out our September Calendar of Events and consider coming to Drexel Lodge Park Sept. 15th for the free Concert In The Park with Ben Arnold at 4:30pm. On Sept. 22nd it’s the 2nd Annual Pints-In-The Square craft beer festival on the Ellis Preserve to benefit the Newtown Square Fire Company. If you attend these events, send us your photos so we can print them in next month’s magazine. Thanks again for all your support and kind words about our new hometown magazine. Keep your emails coming. Let us know how we can make your magazine better by bringing more “Expert Contributors” to our pages and more feature articles that increase our hometown pride about living in Newtown Square.

Seeding a Lawn In The Fall Matt McGuire, Delaware Valley Turf

seed labels when purchasing seed. Many seed companies sell turf grass seed that will establish fast but will usually result in a low-quality lawn or field. Avoid seed that contains annual ryegrass, perennial ryegrass or creeping red fescue. These species of seed have their purpose but not for a lawn. Kentucky Bluegrass makes a nice lawn but is very difficult to establish from seed in our area. If you would like a Kentucky Bluegrass lawn, sod is the best option.

Fall sowing of turf grass is preferable over spring seeding for one main reason: It is simply a matter of maturation for the grass plant before it endures the summer heat. Fall sowing gives the plant more time to mature. The best turf grass species for establishing a lawn in our area from seed is Turf Type Tall Fescue. Turf Type Tall Fescue is a perennial species of grass that has been selectively bred over the years to best tolerate the climatic conditions in our area. It is important to read

Establishing a lawn or renovating a lawn consists of more than spreading seed on the surface. This often results in irregular establishment if any at all. The soil should be first tested for pH and nutrient content. A soil with a low pH, which is common in our area, should be limed so that the soil can adequately provide nutrients to the seedlings. Aeration and over-seeding is the preferred method to increase density in a lawn. Aeration loosens up the soil and makes a great seed bed. Additionally, aeration increases air exchange in the root zone which is vital for plant health. When the

lawn is aerated in the fall, it loosens up the soil during the optimum period when roots grow. Germination increases if the lawn is dragged with a mat to bury the seed and break down the soil that has accumulated on top after aeration. Otherwise, most seed will germinate in the core holes from the aeration plugs. This also results in irregular germination. For new lawns from seed, slice seeding also referred to as slit or power-seeding is effective. These methods typically can damage established lawns. Finally, a word on watering. A new lawn will rarely establish itself on natural rainfall. It simply does not rain enough to consistently provide the moisture needed for uniform establishment. An irrigation system or a sprinkler monitored to provide water is ideal. For established lawns, a normal fall can usually provide sufficient moisture but there is no guarantee with nature. For best results, it is helpful to contact a professional turf management company to identify the best methods and practices to help your lawn look great year after year. NS

Resident Feature

The Quinns: Teaming Up

by Craig Whitney Photography by Dan Hall Prestige Photography

Brian and Joanie met in 2003, and got married two years later. Brian may have lived all over the east coast, but he knew that Newtown Square would be the perfect place to raise his family. Brian currently works in athletic development at La Salle University. He has a background of 16 years in political fundraising, and has a lifelong passion for baseball. When he decided that a career in politics would take too much of his time and take him away from Newtown Square, his current job seemed to be a perfect fit. At La Salle, Brian helps to develop the athletic program and work with students to pursue their athletic goals. This often includes tuition assistance, helping students find ways to afford to stay, often including fundraising activities to bring the community together in support. Joanie also has a passion for sports, as does her whole family. Growing up with three siblings and a steadily growing number of cousins in the Newtown Square area, Joanie was able to grow, learn, and connect to the community. Today, her children have many

The community has been able to team up in that sense, trading carpool responsibilities and picking up everyone after practice. By helping their children make friends, the families as a whole have gotten closer as well. Brian is a part of the board for Newtown Edgmont Little League, helping them raise funds to keep the league going. In addition, Brian works on the Saint Anastasia board for different initiatives for the school and parish. Brian is always drawn to fundraising; the creativity and ingenuity along with a careerlong experience in financing has helped him contribute to a number of organizations in that way.

cousins that are in the same age range, some in the same grade. They can share in different activities in the school and play on the same teams. Though academics are important to the Quinns, sports have been a great opportunity for the kids to be active and engage with the community. As Brian playfully phrased them, “the Gallagher clan” consists of Joanie’s parents, siblings, and extended family. Her parents and several siblings still live in the Newtown Square area, and her parents’ house will be filled with people when the big game is on. Between 20 and 30 people could pack into the house if La Salle is having a big basketball game or the Eagles make a deep run in the playoffs.

“Folks are great in our neighborhood,” Brian said. “The best night is Halloween, we get to see all the kids and, because our street is slightly older, everyone is happy to give extra candy.” Generosity is a key part of their neighborhood. People are happy to give what they can to support the families around them. During the winter, one house in the neighborhood has a big hill, and the family is always happy to have children come Continued on page 8

SOME THINGS JUST GET BETTER WITH AGE: CELEBRATING 60 YEARS

“It can get pretty loud. We laugh, we cheer, we argue,” Brian said. “It’s like going to the bar.” Joanie’s mother is the expert of all things basketball, and more often than not knows more than the coaches do. In a heated moment in a game, the family will rally around her and she will know what the next move will be.

The First Sign of a Good Repair is No Sign at All.

The house was raised playing basketball, with Joanie and her siblings all playing from a young age and continuing to today. Joanie herself played basketball at Boston College, her sister played at La Salle, and her brother is currently the head coach for the University of Hartford. The family group chat will be filled with playful jabs and support every time his team plays, with the whole family huddled around a TV to cheer him on. Sports are obviously a large part of the Quinn family. Activity and teamwork are a helpful starting place to build friendships around the community. Every child has a long list of sports that they currently participate in, from basketball and soccer to cross country and swimming. The schedules can get overwhelming, but help from the community has been able to keep it all going and give each child a chance to pursue their activities. “We usually have to divide and conquer,” Brian said. “And the families in the area are very helpful. We do similar activities, like Little League and CYO, so the same families can help each other across different activities.”

and sled every time it snows. From carpools to extra candy to a neighbor’s hill, there are endless ways to be neighborly in Newtown Square. As a family that is often on-the-go, and one that gets inspired by that lifestyle, their free time is filled with travel. They will try different destinations every year, but they will always like to visit the Jersey shore and Disney World as much as possible. Joanie’s parents have a beach house in Ocean City, and the Quinn children love visiting the house and playing on the beach.

In addition to the annual trips to Ocean City, the Quinns are also longtime fans of Disney World. They have been five times since Joanie, their oldest child, was born. That is roughly once every other year, and they do not plan on stopping. Danny, at six years old now, was four the last time they went to Disney and still remembers how much fun he had there. There isn’t a date set for their next visit, and Brian wouldn’t dare get his children’s hopes up by confirming anything officially. But statistically, the sixth trip is due. The Quinn family has spent many happy years in Newtown Square, raising their family here alongside their cousins, brothers, sisters, parents, and the friends they’ve made along the way. “We love living in Newtown Square,” Brian said. “It’s a great community and we are blessed to be here.”

Around Town Pints in the Square is returning September 22nd at the Ellis Preserve in Newtown Square. If you would like to get your ticket, visit www.PintsInTheSquare.com

Pints in the Square is an annual 5K & beer festival in Newtown Square, returning September 22. We had the privilege to speak to Rick Thompson, co-founder of Pints in the Square and owner of Thompson Painting Company, to discuss this event.

When is the event? Pints in the Square will happen September 22. The 5K begins at 11am, and the brew fest will be from 12 - 4pm.

Where is it located? It will be on the Ellis Preserve in Newtown Square.

Is there an age restriction? There is no age restriction for the 5K, but in order to go to the beer festival, you must be 21 years or older.

HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING

How do I get tickets or sign up for the 5K? You can register for tickets at www.PintsInTheSquare.com. The tickets can either be for both the brew fest and the 5K, or either.

What is the origin of this event? A few years ago, I was with my neighbors watching the Eagles game on a Sunday. A few weeks before, I had been at a beer festival and loved the experience, and pitched to my friends the idea of bringing one to our own town. My wife Bridget is a runner and loved the idea of including a 5K to start the day, and we agreed that the two worlds went together.

What is the most rewarding part about Pints in the Square? In our first year, we had about 500 people at the festival and were able to donate $25,000 to the fire company. They have a lot of employees and a lot of equipment and really appreciate the support.

What do you like about having the event in your community? The generosity of the community partners has been huge for us. Steve Spaeder and Neil Gallagher from EQUUS were very generous at the beginning to donate Ellis Preserve to be the site, which was a huge hurdle and was instrumental in making this happen. I like the people of Marple, it’s a good town with great people. We are very happy to bring something fun and use it to support the community. Beer, food, a 5K, it really is something for everyone. Business Profile

O’Donnell Roofing: Generations of Service

by Craig Whitney Photography by Dan Hall, Prestige Photography

Kevin O’Donnell onnell Roofing O’D of ner Fourth Generation Ow

Nearing the 100th anniversary of the company, O’Donnell Roofing has experienced a long history of change, growth, and adaptation. The history of O’Donnell Roofing spans four generations of the O’Donnell family line. In the first generation, a roof could cost $28 and a repair could cost $.60. For a time, the company was called ‘C.A. O’Donnell II’ with no mention of roofing. C.A. was Kevin’s great grandfather, Clement Aloysius O’Donnell. Clement started the company in West Philadelphia in 1924, and would provide a number of services to the community. Instead of focusing only on roofing, C.A. O’Donnell II would service coal burners in the winter when the demand for roofing quieted down. He owned a metalwork shop that would provide materials needed for roofing and heating work; at the time an in-house production facility was feasible. There were no box-stores down the street to provide the materials needed to put a roof and gutters on a house. The industry has changed drastically and so has the service line, but the O’Donnell name still stands strong in the Marple community. The family business has combined innovation with adaptation to remain relevant and hold on to the traditional local charm that started 94 years ago.

Kevin O’Donnell has overseen the company since 2012 when his father, Lawrence, stepped away from high-level management. Under Lawrence’s influence, the company expanded and changed, moving into different roofing product lines and customer types. He moved into restoration and custom roofs, including slate, cedar, metal, and copper work. He became the premier standard for custom metal and restoration roofing in the area and was even hired to restore the R5 Line Train Station roofs. “He is now a consultant for a lot of companies because of his experience,” Kevin said, “He is one of the best in the area and in his field.” Lawrence started with the company at 19 years old, and by 29 he had assumed the head role from his father, Kevin’s grandfather. Kevin and his father Lawrence had always been close, going down to the shore at Ventnor every weekend. Kevin savored the chance to spend time with his dad when he was younger. He attributes his time working with his father from age 12 as a huge part of his work ethic. “I was a determined, young kid,” Kevin said. “Whatever I did, it was entrepreneurial.” Whether it was selling baseball cards at school or working at a pizza shop at 16, Kevin loved to work and to earn something he could call his own. After graduating from Haverford High School, Kevin went to college in Vermont under a work study program and kept himself busy running a deli while taking classes. The lifestyle was fun and fast; Kevin was happy to say he went snowboarding in Burlington 140 days out of the year while he was there. With that said, it wasn’t home and it wasn’t what Kevin really wanted to do. “I realized up there what I was always destined to do,” Kevin explained.

After four years in Vermont, in the early 2000s, Kevin returned home from college and began working for his father again. “I was surrounded by 30 year olds but I didn’t care. My whole philosophy was ‘show me once, and I’ll do it,’” Kevin said proudly of his younger self. With that work ethic, Kevin quickly rose in the ranks and took every opportunity he could to prove himself. The next big thing in industry advancement was solar panels, and under his father’s direction, the company quickly studied and became certified in installing solar panels. Although the product didn’t advance as quickly as they intended, there are still many commercial and residential clients that request the technology. O’Donnell Roofing was proud to once again adapt and stay current on all of the new technologies so they could respond to the possible needs of their clients.

In the past ten years, Kevin has taken over the company and focused on growth. He dove head first into the business side. Lawrence stepped aside after leading the company for over 30 years, but still helped Kevin by maintaining clients and enforcing the customer service and work ethic that O’Donnell Roofing has always represented. By 2012, Kevin had taken the lead of the company and began growing rapidly. The crew has grown from five employees in 2008 to 25 now, and Kevin makes it a priority to treat every employee with time and respect. “They rely on me for work every day... and I worked hard to build these relationships and honor that,” Kevin said. In the past five years, Kevin expanded the company to servicing commercial clients. This is a new branch of work in addition to the residential clients that he has nurtured since starting the company, but he marks it as one of the first innovations he can claim as his own. The new employees and the professional growth of the company under his management have been something he takes pride in and focuses time, effort, and resources on building. Nearing 100 years, O’Donnell Roofing is now working in Marple with a number of clients and roofing products, and may look entirely different on the surface from its beginning. Beyond surface-level, this new company looks and feels just like the one-man project in 1924 that installed coal burners to provide heat to their clients in the winter. Innovation and a strong desire to learn has been constant over the past 100 years, and is the heart of a company that has lasted four generations of the O’Donnell family.

Gas Log vs. Wood Burning Fireplaces by Scott Magness Scott‘s Fireplace Products

comparable to wood. The hand-painted ceramic logs give an authentic feel of real wood and with the amber glow it looks as if they are actually on fire. In fact, some gas fireplaces have been known to be mistaken for wood burning fireplaces.

Gas fireplaces first came about as an alternative to wood-burning fireplaces, not as a means to replace them. However, gas fireplaces have become increasingly popular as convenience has become a major factor for consumers. While gas fireplaces cannot mimic the natural crackling and popping attributes of a wood-burning fireplace, a gas fireplace provides an easier, safer, and cleaner way to enjoy a fire. The first element of a fire is the kindling, which must be gathered and then lit. Next comes positioning the logs on the grate and waiting for them to catch fire from the kindling. Most people do not want to get involved in that process and this is why a lot of wood burning fireplaces sit dormant. Though there may be a general belief that gas fireplaces don’t compare to wood-burning in terms of appearance, that isn’t always true. Gas fireplaces offer a level of ambiance and realism

Gas fireplaces also offer more heat output and flexibility than burning wood. Most gas fireplaces produce a warm radiant heat, like the heat from a wood burning fireplace, but more of it. Some gas fireplaces can even supplement the normal house heat of a home. The temperature and flame appearance can easily be adjusted as well. Instantly increase or decrease the flame height to keep the room at a comfortable temperature, while still enjoying the ambiance and atmosphere created from the gas fire. Also, gas fireplaces open up the doors to endless possibilities and styles. Whether a home is traditional, contemporary or an in-between transitional décor, there is a gas fireplace to compliment any style. Even if a home does not have an existing wood fireplace, a gas fireplace can easily be added since no chimney is required. Lastly, gas fires burn clean. They do not give off smoke, require an annual chimney cleaning or leave behind ashes to sweep up like wood burning fireplaces. Most gas fireplaces have remote options to control temperatures and set timers. Best of all, there is no waiting for the flames to die down. The simple push of a button on a remote or wall switch turns the fireplace off. So the next time you are about to go outside and collect logs to start your fire, think about all the advantages a gas fireplace gives you. Chopping wood and gathering kindling will become a thing of the past. NS

Value, at the end of the day, is what bridges the gap between low price desires and the premium products we offer at Scott’s Fireplace Products. 484- 422- 8334

Rebecca will be rewarded a $100 gift card courtesy of B&E Sportswear. Everyone at Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors sends a congratulations and well wishes to Rebecca as she starts her new year. Each month B&E Sportswear sponsors a “Student of the Month” whose high achievements in activities, academics, friendship or service to their community deserves to be recognized. Any student attending any school (private or public) within the borders of the Marple Newtown School District is eligible. To be named a “Student of The Month” in the Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors Magazine, and be awarded a $100 Wawa gift card by B&Sportswear, visit www.BandESportswear.com. NS

In the free time that Rebecca does manage to find, she volunteers at an animal shelter. She gets to support a great cause and spend time with dogs, a win-win as far as she is concerned. When asked about her favorite classes at Marple Newtown, Rebecca named pre-school lab as her favorite class. The course is not offered at every school, and Rebecca remarked that she is grateful for these unique opportunities that give students exposure to new subjects and career-oriented courses. Working with children has always been a passion of hers, from babysitting to volunteering, and a unique exploratory course like this has given her insight into a career path she may not have considered before. Rebecca has been a part of the Marple Newtown school district since kindergarten, and raved about the experience. “I am so appreciative of the opportunities that have been provided to me,” Rebecca said. “The courses I can take are unique to me, and give me the chance to be who I want to be. I have friends who mean a lot to me, and I’ve had teachers that are kind and genuinely want (students) to succeed.” Bringing People Together

History Spotlight

How was Newtown Named? History Spotlight by Doug Humes

Why is there a Newtown in Delaware County and a Newtown in Bucks County? Blame it on Pennsylvania’s first developer, William Penn. In 1681, Penn was granted a large wooded tract in the New World. He and his surveyor, Thomas Holme, worked out the basics of the initial development. The capital city, Philadelphia, was laid out in a grid of streets that still identifies Philadelphia’s center city today. In Bucks and Chester County, Penn planned two “New Towns”: The town in Chester County was placed in a township bisected by a north-south “straight road,” and an east-west road. A “townstead” was planned at their intersection. If you bought a larger parcel outside of the townstead, you also were entitled to a smaller lot in the town. In Bucks County, the development was planned like a wagon wheel: the town in the middle, for a market, a meeting house and perhaps an inn. The private lots would each border the town, running like spokes from the central hub of the town.

William Penn

Give your home the protection it deserves.

Like developers today, Penn assigned a placeholder to these new towns on his 1687 map, simply “New Town.” Presumably once the marketing effort started in earnest, they would be given snazzy new names: Aronimink Mews or Newtown Woods! Yet today, three centuries later, those first new towns still bear the name given on the 1687 map.

The next time a local visitor wonders why there are two towns with the curiously nondescript name “Newtown” in suburban Philadelphia, you can tell them to blame the developer, William Penn. Newtown Square Local Star

Carol Kaplan Ruark: Stewardship and Leadership at Garrett Williamson by Terri McCarthy (Morrison) Carol Kaplan Ruark listens. Like many great leaders, she builds trust through her capacity to hear and support her team at Garrett Williamson, her Board of Directors, donors, and Delaware County overall. Under Carol’s stewardship, Garrett Williamson’s amazing 240-acre property in Newtown Square is solidly protected, and consciously growing. Whether she’s writing an email to a potential family, or sitting down with a preschooler, Carol gives each her full attention. She engages with a caring, personal attitude that helps hundreds of children and adults trust her – and feel safe in this green haven. And because she walks alongside, not above, colleagues and constituents – Garrett Williamson is thriving. Over the last 100 years, thousands of children have run across the wide lawns, explored the woods, built, and rebuilt their lives in the Garrett Williamson (GW) community. The philanthropic founder, Elizabeth Garrett, left her beautiful farm “for the support and maintenance of poor children… as many as possible… during the spring, summer, and fall months...” As the Executive Director, Carol Kaplan Ruark and her team are fulfilling and expanding upon Mrs. Garrett’s wishes for this historic property over 100 years later. The non-profit now runs two award-winning programs for children: Garrett’s Way Childcare and Learning Center, which serves infants 6 weeks of age through Kindergarten, and Camp Garrett, which serves youth age 5 through 15 every summer. Maintaining the last original land preserve in Newtown Square is a challenge, but the GW staff is both

What inspires Carol? “I feel it is a privilege to provide a sense of normalcy, a caring environment for children during bad times and good. Garrett Williamson is proud to be a supportive, stable sanctuary – with a faculty of highly skilled professionals. The administration, teachers, camp leaders, 4-H program directors and counselors are compassionate, inspiring, and set a high bar for the children.” resourceful and serious about their stewardship. They care deeply for the children (nearly half of whom receive scholarships), and continuously improve the facilities, all the while protecting the environment. This summer, in addition to receiving great care and a wonderful education, students and campers hike, practice team building and leadership skills, and make friends. And because it gives children an awareness of where food really comes from – the campers work at least an hour in the garden every week! They experience good, nutritious food straight from the earth – and appreciate how healthy it is for all of us, and how we’re all connected. Carol Kaplan Ruark and her team at Garrett Williamson are very aware that this campus is unique – and that they are guarding a priceless legacy. Until recently, there were hundreds of acres of open space in Newtown Square – but only Garrett Williamson completely preserves their founder’s mission today. They also host one of the only farm-based 4-H programs in the country - which gives Garrett Williamson children the unique opportunity to visit cattle, sheep, horses and other livestock in the original Garrett family barn, built in 1794. Carol welcomes interested parties to learn more about how they can get involved, and support Garrett Williamson’s future. Please visit www.GarrettWilliamson.org or call 610-353-7690. Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors

Newtown Square Sponsors Make Us Better, Together! Friends & Neighbors of Newtown Square, thank you for all your emails with such kind words of praise for our inaugural issue of Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors magazine launched last month. Our staff was thrilled by the reception of Newtown Township residents who now have a free monthly magazine for the people, about the people, and often… by the people of Newtown Square. With such positive response to our first edition, came several common questions: How can this magazine be free, how can I keep receiving the magazine monthly, and how can I help? The answers to all three questions can be summed in a single word: Sponsorship! No doubt you recognize leading Marple Newtown businesses advertising on the pages of your magazine. But we don’t call them “advertisers,” we call them “sponsors,” because of the financial commitment these businesses have made on behalf of Newtown Square residents to receive this monthly magazine. We have our “sponsors” to thank for our magazine and all we have to do is thank our sponsors for advertising in our magazine and to think of them first when buying products or services. Some sponsors are also expert contributors who will be regularly contributing professional insights through feature articles we publish for your benefit. Take a look again at page 4 of the magazine to meet our growing list of expert contributors who are business leaders in our community. We have our expert roofer, our expert auto repair mechanic and expert hair stylists. We know who to call when our family has lost a loved one and we need an expert funeral director. We have an Expert HVAC Specialist to call for AC or heating service, and our lawn expert helps us keep our grass green and weed free. But I need your help to know who else to invite into our Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors magazine as one of our expert contributors. In some ways, it’s up to you. Who is the expert chiropractor of Newtown Square who will stand up straight with us?

Which Marple Newtown veterinarian shall we trust for expert advice to protect our pets? Is there a real estate expert who will first sponsor our magazine, and then sponsor our homes? Will an expert wealth advisor first share their expertise with us in print before meeting with us? What Newtown Square dentist is the expert other Newtown Square dentists trust most? Who is the home repair expert that can give us ideas for how to remodel our homes? Friends & Neighbors, help me find the experts you know are serving Marple Newtown residents, who you believe would be willing to share their expertise with us in print on a regular basis. And please tell your “Experts” that the readers of Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors magazine will reward their sponsorship of our community by thinking of them first in our effort to buy local whenever possible. Remember, in my effort to bring this magazine to you each month, it’s you readers and especially our advertising sponsors whose very special leadership in our community as advertising sponsors of our magazine makes it all possible. Our advertising sponsors use their marketing budgets to meet us in the marketplace, which shows us how much they value our community. So, when speaking with an advertising sponsor, tell them you read about their business in the Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors magazine, thank them for making our free magazine possible, and of course whenever possible, always “Buy Local.” To nominate an Expert Contributor whose feature articles can benefit residents of Newtown Square, or if interested in learning more about becoming an Expert Contributor as an advertising sponsor of Newtown Square residents, contact Bob Blaisse at bblaisse@bestversionmedia.com or 610-453-5536.
