Welcome to Our Team, Sheila Turner-Hilliard!

About Our Content Coordinator feature article by Bob Blaisse

As we prepare to say goodbye to a year that has certainly brought us great challenges, twists and turns, here’s one I did not see coming as we close out 2020: a change in our Content Coordinator for Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors.

Many readers know Christina Manning, who served as our Content Coordinator for the past seven months. Christina grew up in Newtown Square, and was a standout basketball player at Cardinal O’Hara High School. At Muhlenberg College, she helped lead her teams to multiple conference championships. I want to take this opportunity to thank Christina for her service to our hometown magazine, and wish her all the best as she pursues her writing career on a larger stage.

This month, we welcome to Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors our new Content Coordinator, someone most readers already know: Sheila Turner-Hilliard, "Everyone's Friend & Neighbor!"

Sheila Turner-Hilliard, Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors Content Coordinator

Sheila, who has served for the past two years as our magazine's Dance Instruction Expert Contributor, has been the proud Owner of From the Top Dance, a studio she founded 16 years ago and developed with the love and support of her family and friends. What started in 2004 as one dance studio in a basement space grew to become a three-studio storefront space in Newtown Square’s Saint Albans Circle, and a home to thousands of dancers who have benefited from high-quality dance instruction “with a twist of fun.”

Now, with From the Top’s mission remaining the same and with Sheila continuing to teach her Special Needs classes, she has chosen to step back at the studio, “toss the Top Hat” over to Helena Berggren, and to join our Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors team as our new Content Coordinator.

Helena Berggren, Creative Director at From the Top Dance

Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors' new Dance Instruction Expert Contributor

Helena Berggren, a native of Sweden who began dancing at age nine, will lead the next chapter at From the Top Dance for a new generation of dancers. Helena is just the right person for that role: She is an international award-winning dancer and choreographer in the Swedish, European and World Championships for Jazz, Hip Hop, Show Dance, Disco and Bugg. Helena’s experience, coupled with her passion and business experience, will continue to add more to the experience dancers gain at From the Top. Helena brings new styles of dance and is introducing new health and wellness programs while also planning many charitable performance events for next year. We will all get to know Helena more as she will now serve in the role of our magazine’s Dance Instruction Expert Contributor. Look forward to reading Helena’s features in the months ahead!

By joining our team, Sheila Turner-Hilliard continues her longtime involvement and service to her hometown. As lead writer and Content Coordinator for our magazine, she will further develop skills learned at Kutztown University as a Speech Communications and Public Relations major and as an Expert Contributor for our magazine. This is a new role for Sheila, but one that requires similar skills as dance, but to now use the written word to communicate and entertain with precision.

Welcome aboard, Sheila! Christmas has come early for us by your joining our team.

If you would like to nominate a family, a resident, a local organization or special events for a feature in our hometown magazine, or if you would like to welcome Sheila Turner- Hilliard into her new position as Newtown Square Friends & Neighbors Content Coordinator, email her at STurnerHilliard@ BestVersionMedia.com.
