Have you ever chosen a haircut that you absolutely loved when you saw it on someone else, but when you look in the mirror after getting it done, you thoroughly hate it? The reason is probably that it didn’t compliment your face shape. Whether your face is an oval, round, rectangle, triangle, square or heart/ diamond shaped, there is a perfect cut to suit your face shape.

The right haircut will frame and balance your face while also showcasing your best features. If you’re not sure what face shape you have, consult with your stylist. They should be able to show you what shape your face is considered, along with several different looks that would work best on you. If you already know what face shape you have, here are some pointers for flattering cuts to compliment your features accordingly. Oval is considered the most common face shape. As for the best hairstyles for an oval face, bobs and lobs (long bobs) tend to be very flattering to your face shape, as well as long layers and loose waves. Round faces are typically pretty symmetrical, so styles with a center part are ideal, particularly those with long, loose waves. Rectangle faces are truly complimented by styles with curtain bangs, a very popular choice these days! Curtain bangs are a type of bangs that frame the face on both sides, usually with a center part. They tend to be cut shorter on the inside and become gradually longer toward the outside. Triangle faces look stunning with cuts where the layering starts and falls at the eyes or cheekbones, which offsets the angular lower half of your face. Square faces look great with a slightly off-center part (between a side and center part line) to help round out the face. This frames your face without appearing too bold or dramatic, offsetting any harsh angles. Heart or Diamond faces have pointed chins and high cheekbones, so they are the lucky ones who can ideally wear just about any style. However, some of the best looks for these shapes include having hair parted on the side, which enhances the angular nature of your lower face and chin.
