Make Sure Your Yard is Ready
Winter is on its way out, which means that warmer temperatures will be beckoning us outdoors again. You may start to notice that your lawn and landscaping are in desperate need of some serious upkeep and updating. Spring clean up, weeding and mulching are great ways to get your landscape ready to look lush and beautiful again, as well as bring you joy and satisfaction in the coming spring and summer months.
With the warmer weather, you may start to notice an increase in the pest population within your yard. The increase in mosquitoes, ticks, Spotted Lanternflies and other pests can make even the loveliest garden, patio or deck not only a nuisance, but can cause you and your family to limit spending time outdoors. So adding a plan to deal with these pests can be another important item to add to your outdoor maintenance checklist.
Also, now is the time to set up and stay on a monthly care program, to properly care for your landscaping, trees and garden beds, to ensure you create a well maintained look for your home the entire season. Consider adding an eye-catching pop of color near your front walkway or entrance, in your garden beds and borders or around your patio, deck or pool area. Consider adding some window boxes and planters for colorful flowering plants and complementary vines.
The spring is also the perfect time to move forward with your new hardscape plan, by looking into the logistics of the construction, design and installation. An outdoor entertainment and living area adds a whole new sense of relaxation and escape, plus it adds both curb-appeal and value to your home.
Get a start on the clean up by eliminating debris build up that occurred over the long winter months, by removing leaf and branch debris from turf areas and flower beds. As tempting as it may be to get started on the fun stuff, like planting seasonal annual flowers and plants, you must first weed and adequately mulch your flower beds.
Some popular ideas for new hardscape plans include fireplaces, outdoor kitchens/pizza ovens, patios, walkways, retaining walls, paver borders and stone edging. New and attractive landscape lighting options will help showcase your newly designed areas, allowing you to enjoy them not only during the day but during dusk and night. Warmer days are right around the corner. Treat yourself to an enjoyable outdoor living experience this year by planning and taking action now! N S
