Pre-Installation Guide {

RETRO FITTING CALORIFIER CONNECTIONS TO ALL BETA MARINE ENGINES

Please be aware that in order to proceed with installing calorifier feed and return connections it will be necessary to drain down and then refill the engines closed circuit (fresh water) cooling system. If the vessels calorifier tank is positioned partly above the engine it will additionally be necessary to install a remote header expansion tank. Pre-Installation always ensure you have available a copy of the latest Beta Marine Installation Guide & Operators Manual to refer too. Hard copies can be purchased with a calorifier kit or electronic copies can be downloaded free of charge from: www.betamarine.co.uk/literature-downloads-seagoing/ The Installation Guide & Operators Manual will assist with: • Locating the engine closed circuit (fresh water) cooling system drain tap. • Refilling the engine closed circuit (fresh water) cooling system and testing it correctly including the calorifier circuit. • Installing and testing a remote header expansion tank.

Calorifier Kit: AK/HE/CAL/M01 {

BETA 10, 14, 16, 20 & 25 WITH 3 BOLT HEAT EXCHANGER END CAPS

CALORIFIER FEED Remove the 1/8” BSP bung from the cylinder head, located behind the last fuel injector, aft starboard side of the engine. Replace with 1/8” BSP male swivel adaptor and copper washer, add male/female elbow and 5/8” hose connector. Please refer to image 1.

Remove bung and replace with calorifier feed fittings

Note: If the engine water temperature sender is already in this position it will have to removed and refitted below the thermostat housing*. Please refer to image 2.

*Should the engine water temperature sender need refitting to the thermostat housing a 600-09377 Adaptor and 600-01848 Washer will additionally be required. Remove thermostat housing bung and refit the engine water temperature sender

CALORIFIER RETURN Remove the bung from the underside of the heat exchanger tank with an 8mm hexagon key. Replace with the 3/8” BSP male/female elbow and join on the 5/8” BSP hose connector. Please refer to image 3.

IMPORTANT! All fittings are to be sealed with PTFE tape or pipe sealant to prevent water leaks when the engine is at operating temperature and pressure.

BETA 28, 30, 35, 38 & 45T WITH 3 BOLT HEAT EXCHANGER END CAPS

BETA 70T & 85T WITH 3 BOLT HEAT EXCHANGER END CAPS

CALORIFIER FEED Remove the 3/8” BSP bung from the thermostat housing, located port side forward end of the engine. Replace with 3/8” BSP water tap and add 5/8” hose connector. Please refer to image 1.

Remove bung and replace with calorifier feed fittings

Remove the bung from the underside of the heat exchanger tank with an 8mm hexagon key. Replace with the 3/8” BSP male/female elbow add the 3/8” BSP water tap and the 5/8” BSP hose connector. Please refer to image 2.

BETA 75, 90, 90T, 105T & 115T WITH 3 BOLT HEAT EXCHANGER END CAPS

CALORIFIER FEED Remove the 3/8” BSP bung from the thermostat housing, located starboard side forward end of the engine. Replace with 3/8” BSP male/male connector add 3/8” BSP female/female socket, 3/8” BSP water tap and 5/8” hose connector. Please refer to image 1.

CALORIFIER RETURN Remove the bung from starboard side, forward end of the engine located under the fresh water pipe. Replace with the 3/8” BSP male/female elbow add the 3/8” BSP water tap and 5/8” BSP hose connector. Please refer to image 2.
