WELCOME TO THE 180TH GENERAL CONVENTION! Though it was 100 years before Beta first came to Oxford for the Centennial Anniversary in 1939, this year marks the 10th time the General Convention has returned to the Fraternity’s cherished founding and the 27th time in Ohio. In the coming days, some 600 Betas, Sweethearts and guests will gather in celebration at the home of Alpha Chapter and Miami University, and Convention attendees have the unique oppor-
tunity to explore the Fraternity’s historic sites that most only get to read about in “Son of the Stars.” Recognizing the notion of “honor” is one of the most frequently mentioned concepts throughout the Fraternity’s ritual, songs and sentiment, this year’s Convention theme, “Ever Honored,” is rooted in the great traditions of Beta Theta Pi. Undergraduate and alumni delegates voting in this year’s legislative sessions will address several key matters throughout the weekend, including Board of Trustees nominations, the granting of charters to seven Beta colonies and a multitude of legislative proposals brought forth by undergraduates and alumni. Beta’s annual reunion also serves to conduct the business of the Fraternity and important educational sessions. With the backdrop of Oxford and the birthplace of Beta Theta Pi, we rededicate ourselves to bringing honor to our Great and Good Fraternity.
