The Bethany College Education Department strives to instill in candidates the knowledge base, teaching skills, and professional attitudes and values necessary to become exceptional, reflective teachers in a diverse culture.

Bethany College has provided teacher preparation programs since its founding in 1881. Today, Bethany students can receive education leading to teacher licensure at the elementary (P-6), secondary (6-12), and P-12 levels in Art, Vocal and Instrumental Music, Health and Physical Education. Bethany College also offers endorsements in Special Education and English Language Learners.
The teacher education faculty includes fulltime professors who come from a variety of educational backgrounds and years of classroom experience. Over 600 teachers from Bethany College are currently teaching in Kansas. The teacher education program is approved and accredited by the Kansas State Department of Education.

Bethany College’s Teacher Education Program has been accredited by the Kansas State Department of Education and meets the requirements for a professional teaching license in the state of Kansas. Additional conditions may be required for teacher licensure in other states.
Bethany College Teacher Education Department is not required to determine whether the college’s courses, program or curriculum meet the educational requirements for licensure in states other than Kansas. Students planning to seek a professional teaching license outside of Kansas are strongly recommended to meet with Bethany College’s licensure officer.
