More than 25 teams will sign up to play in the Men’s Snowbird Softball Tournament which kicks off this weekend at the DugOut Sports Complex in Davenport.

The Co-Ed Tournament was held January 21-23 and the turnout was FANTASTIC! Your support helps children succeed! There are many ways you can support or volunteer in your community and most are extremely worthwhile. It might be hard for you to decide where to spend your time or money, or both! How do you know when you are making a difference?

At BBBS we measure the different you are making with children each and every day. It is important for us to know that our training, coaching and enhancement programs are helping our volunteers change the lives of these children for the better, forever. Earn. After you earn money (from a job, an allowance or walking your neighbor’s dog) what do you do with it? What are some of your options? Save and Invest. After you’ve earned your money you have a lot of options. You can spend it, which is always fun, but what if you want something down the line that you don’t have all the money for right now? You’ll need to save or invest it. There are many different options when it comes to saving and investing your money. Research is key. Pick the one that’s right for you. Protect. There are a lot of scams out there. They come in the form of text messages, emails and phone calls. They ask for your account number telling you there’s a problem with your account. Assume that any offer that “sounds too good to be true” – especially one from someone you don’t know or an unfamiliar company – is probably a scam. A good rule is to always call your financial institution to verify. Spend. Spending hard earned money is something we all like to do. How you spend it is something you need to be careful about. SAND IN THE SUN GARDEN – Opened every day to March 31st at Quad City Botanical Center at 2525 4th Avenue in Rock Island. The hours they are open are 9:10am – 4:00pm Monday through Saturday (open late Tuesday night until 7pm) and 11am – 4pm Sunday. See the Sun Garden and play with some sand toys to enjoy a break from the cold weather. Come for some fun in the sun! Program included in general admission which is $6.00 Adults (16 years and older), $5.00 Seniors (60+) and Military, $4.00 Youth (ages 6 to 15) $2.00 Children(ages 2 to 5) and Toddlers (ages 2 and under) are free! HOME DEPOT KIDS WORKSHOP - February 7 from 9:00 AM 12:00 PM at Home Depot at 920 Middle Road in Bettendorf. It is for children ages 5-12 years old who will be building a heart box just in time for Valentine’s Day! All kid can keep their craft item, receive a certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. It is on a first come/first served basis and please do not arrive before 9:00 a.m. and you can register online for the workshop at www.homedepot.com Un-Valentine's Day Party - February 10 at the Rock Island Main Library from 6:00 pm to 7:30 PM at 401-19th Street in Rock Island.
