So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

Secret Domino But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, (Matthew 6:3)

There are several people in my own life that I have forgiven with my lips, but not in my heart. I’m not even sure why we want to hold on to that junk. All it The idea is to give to others in secret. It’s about does is keep us in bondage, and whether we realize changing our focus from ourselves to a heart of it or not, that unforgiveness spills over into other giving for others. Being the domino means being relationships. If it was a trust that was broken, you willing to be used by God for His purposes to touch are likely having a hard time trusting others. You the lives of others. Secret domino is simply a way to are afraid of opening up to others because someone give you ideas on how you can do this. broke that trust with you in the past. What is “Secret Domino?” I’ve had a few people ask because only those who subscribe to the monthly email know very much about it. Each month we present a different idea of a way that you can give to others and share the love of Christ. Every month we are challenging you to give to others in a context that may be different from what you are used to. Included in the email you will also be exposed to other ministries who have a heart of giving and you’ll have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. Over the past year we have covered such things as secret prayer journals, giving towards life changing surgeries for children, praying for the lost, gift cards, and forgiving someone even when by the world’s standards forgiveness just doesn’t make sense

You’ve probably said to yourself “Why would I want to risk opening up, and getting hurt again?” It might have been even a physical abuse that you’ve suffered in the past, perhaps someone hurt you phsyically, and you’ve kept it bottled up inside, holding on to that hurt, because nothing in you desires to forgive them for what they did to you. Whenever I choose not to forgive someone for something they’ve done to me, it doesn’t take long for God to remind me of what Jesus came to do on that cross.

The hurt we’ve experienced in our lives drives us to say “they don’t deserve to be forgiven, for what they did to me.”, and honestly that is the point which we often miss. None of us deserve forgiveness for our sins! I picture Jesus hanging on the cross, bloodied, beaten, shamed, with a crown of thorns pushed The following is an example of a Secret Domino post deep into his brow, near to death. Keep a Prayer Journal The strategy for ROOT 52 encompasses all 50 states standing together in covenant both to fast and pray in agreement during the first two weeks of 2010 for our national leadership and national governmental structure. We will then move forward each week with individual states continuing to bow in repentance before God and taking up the torch of prayer and fasting until we complete 52 weeks, equaling 1 year. (50 states plus 2 weeks for government leadership).

I’m a big advocate for keeping a prayer journal. Often whenever I spend time in prayer, my mind gets distracted. It doesn’t take very long for my focus to start drifting to my to-do lists of the day, and I’m off track. There are many reasons why you should keep a prayer journal.

The first week of the year begins corporately with all 50 states mobilized and joined together in prayer and fasting for our nation’s leadership in the White House. For more information visit the Root 52 website

You are keeping a record of your prayers. I remember reading back over the past few months, you can see where God has answered so many things I have prayed for, and .... for the things He hasn’t. Often I will look back, and see where my focus was during prayer time, and see that I was pretty glad that prayer didn’t get answered. Over time you’ll have a book filled with evidence of God’s faithfulness in your life. I’ve discovered that whenever I was really down and out, reading through some of my old prayer journals gave me a renewed hope and peace, because I have seen where God has brought me over the past few years

Fear of God He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them. The LORD preserves all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. (Psalms 145:19-20) There is a difference between fearing God, and being afraid of God. The believer fears God as a child does his father. The wicked are afraid of God as the criminal is of the judge! www.bethedomino.org

For one, it helps keep your mind from wandering. If I am focused on what I am writing, then my mind doesn’t wander as much.

Keeping a prayer journal has also gave me fresh insight on Scriptures that I’ve been praying through. Truth is there are many more reasons to keep a prayer journal than not. Pray today about starting a journal of your prayers. 11

Revive By Faith

Revival in Algeria

By faith Noah, moved with holy fear, prepared an ark (Heb.11:7). When our soul realises God’s holiness, we clearly see our own sinfulness, and we would like to rectify it. We ‘fear’ God’s holiness, but also trust and depend on what Christ had done for us on the cross. God in His great wisdom couples these two graces of faith and fear.

Despite laws preventing conversion, Muslims are turning to Christ in what is being called an amazing move of the Spirit in northern Algeria.

Bus Crash in China Kills 20

Do not let ungodly fear hinder you from following Christ. Even when we make mistakes, He is greater than our mistakes and through Him we are able to overcome.

Eighteen children and two adults died after an overloaded school bus collided with a coal truck Wednesday in northwest China’s Gansu province, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The nine-seater minibus was involved in a headToday, spend some time in prayer, and ask Him how on collision with the truck in Yulinzi township in your life can begin by saying “By Faith...” Zhengning county, in the Qingyang city area, an official from the city’s work safety bureau told International Day of Prayer Xinhua. International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church has officially came and gone, but prayers for the persecuted Church are needed every day. A good friend of mine said that this day should be renamed to International Day to Start Praying for the Persecuted Church. Prayer isn’t a one time event, yet when days like this come and go, little is thought any more of the persecuted until the next IDOP rolls around.

The bureau blamed overloading, saying in a statement the bus had 64 people on board at the time. Most of them were children from Yulinzi’s Little Doctor Kindergarten, Xinhua said. Five people, including the bus driver, were reported to have died at the scene Wednesday morning, with the others confirmed dead later. Another 45 people, most of them children, were injured and are being treated in hospital, Xinhua quotes the bureau as saying.

Revive Decisions Think about the way you make decisions every day. Do you ask God’s advice? Do you clearly experience Him leading you in difficult situations at work or in your life? Submitting all these events to Him for guidance may look weak in the eyes of the world, but in the spirit it shows forth the fear of the Lord and honor to His Name. Ask Him to remind and teach you how o respond in godly fear in every situation.

Children in Guatemala A recent report has shown that more than 10 children in Guatemala die every week as a result of violence, 52% of these from gunshot wounds. Gang culture and drug dependency are common occurrences, and the average of 17 murders a day in the country, are mostly attributable to youth gangs and organised crime. About 29% of children aged 5-14 are involved in child labour and are being sent out to work in difficult and dangerous conditions.

MOST OF US who drive realize fuel is an absolute necessity in order for our vehicle to run. We know that when the gas gauge reads “Empty” or when we see that annoying light come on, it’s time to pull on in to the gas station and fill it up. But honestly, how many of you have tried to see how far we could get on “Empty”? The same is true in our spiritual lives. Many times we try to see how far we can get, unintentionally, without spending quality one on one time with God. Our egos get in the way of the ever- present Holy Spirit that is beckoning our attention. Meanwhile, we remain on cruise control for the week. We try to fill our tank with everything but what is necessary to function: fellowship with friends, insightful books, worshipful music and “drive-by” encounters with God are all things. While these are all positive activities, they are not sufficient enough for sustained spiritual growth. In the book of James, we find where our dependence our source of strength, should come from. We need to be completely, solely dependent upon Him. He is our strength, our fuel. Subjugating ourselves to Him, our motives and our desires to His, leaves us full and confident to continue our journey.

Cry out for the children of Guatemala. Pray that God What are some “good” things in your life that may will intervene, saving them. Pray for Tunisia The population of Tunisia is over 99 % Muslim with only a .22 % Christian presence. In earlier centuries the Christian Church was widespread, producing such leaders as Tertullian and Cyprian. Schism, heresy, failures to put roots deep into the local culture and to translate the Bible into local languages, foreign invasions and finally Islam brought about its demise.

Islam is experiencing a new vitality in Tunisia, which has not been particularly renowned for its religious commitment. In the years since 9/11 and subsequent events in the political-religious sphere, many Tunisians have become more fervent in their Islamic faith. This is reflected in their choice of clothing as well as mosque attendance. Although the government strives against politicized Islam, the general trend in the Arab world at large and locally, and the lack of future prospects for the younger generation, are pulling society toward greater Islamization. Average Income is $3955 only 8 % of the USA The government still prohibits indigenous churches from owning their own property and having their own bank accounts. Pray for the government to officially recognize the Church. Pray for the return of buildings and land that were previously taken by the state; may these provide space for Christians to establish their own place of worship.

There was a sharp increase in the number of Christians arrested at the start of 2010. Although some were later released, pressure on the church remains high. Many of the approximately 350,000 believers from a Muslim background live in fear of harassment by the government. The regime lost credibility following the turmoil of the 2009 elections, and in an effort to distract attention from continuing protests against it, it is increasingly lashing out against Christians.

House Church Leaders Attacked near Hanoi Vietnam

Leaders of the Agape Baptist Church were participating in a spiritual renewal meeting at the home of pastor Nguyen Danh Chau in Lai Tao village, Bot Xuyen commune, My Duc district, when the gang intruded at 9:30 a.m., sources said. Beating people and smashing property, the gang seriously injured more than a dozen participants and warned Nguyen Danh Chau that they would kill him if he continued gathering Christians, the sources in Vietnam said. The seriously injured Christians included five male pastors, four female pastors and other church leaders, and several of the leaders’ teenage children. The worst wounded, Nguyen Danh Chau, lay unconscious for many hours, and as of midnight Tuesday (Nov. 15), he was still suffering severe chest, stomach and head pain. One pastor’s wife, Nguyen Thi Lan, was still unable to walk and function normally at press time after she was struck in the stomach and groin. Others remained weak from loss of blood.

Food For the Poor Rebuilding Haiti

and hope for the future

For a time after the January 2010 earthquake, Haiti was in the front of everyone’s minds. The captivated world looked on in disbelief at the destruction and chaos that seemed too horrible to be true. Aid agencies sprang into action, news networks beamed 24-hour coverage, governments offered condolences and pledged solidarity, celebrities pleaded and sang…and the world responded in a big way.

Having served in Haiti since 1986, Food For The Poor was well-positioned to respond to the disaster. Food and water distributions began almost immediately after the quake, and teams were quickly on the ground assessing the situation. Since that day, Food For The Poor has been able to: build more than 2,200 homes for people made homeless by the disaster; begin construction on four schools (that will benefit at least 3,400 students); and deliver nearly 600 tractor-trailer containers full of aid to people in need. And while other relief organizations held on to billions of unspent dollars raised for emergency relief, FFP spent every penny of the $20.7 million it raised for earthquake relief by the end of October 2010.

Not since the Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004, or perhaps 9/11, had the world galvanized around such a tragedy. The initial outpouring of support was tremendous. But eventually, the camera crews started leaving. People grew frustrated at the seemingly slow rate of progress for the relief effort. Pretty soon celebrities moved onto other endeavors, and the world moved on too; with Portau-Prince and its surrounding areas still covered in rubble. A staggering toll

Now nearly two years after the earthquake, progress can be seen; despite thousands still living under tents and millions more still stuck in poverty. Despite the daunting, complex challenges that stand in the way of Haiti’s progress, the ongoing support of Food For The Poor’s donors continues to The toll of the earthquake was staggering: hundreds uplift thousands of people in tangible ways every day.
