BUILDING OUR FUTURE
COMING IN FEBRUARY
FROM ME TO YOU
By Pastor Tim
As we enter a New Year each January, I have for many years designated a special time to seek God for His blessing on the coming year. Each year, I have committed a different time as I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit or by what came into my heart creatively to do. I do this for my own personal blessing and renewal; and for the blessing of Bethel Church. It is something I look forward to each year. This year I am committing a special time of 31 days of special prayer. I am asking for you to join with me. I am a firm believer in the Biblical principle of “First Things”. When you honour God with the first, He blesses the rest. It is a proven truth. It is a Biblical truth. This is something I endeavour to live by. I set a special time, at the beginning of each year, to seek God’s blessing on the entire year. I give God the first days of the year. In the Old Testament we see this principle frequently emphasized as it related to the first born child (Exodus 13:12) as well as to the first of their
flocks (for sacrifice) and of their harvest. “The first of your first fruits of your land you shall bring to the house of the Lord your God” (Exodus 23:19). Solomon in Proverbs 3:9,10 speaks of the principle of “First Things” and how it relates to financial prosperity: “Honour the Lord with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.” Jesus spoke of the principle of “First Things” when he said in Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, (then) and all these things (material blessings) will be added to you.” Jesus is the first begotten of the Father and also the firstfruits of the resurrection. This means that the principle of firsts works for God. God gave us His first son and now has a multitude of sons and daughters. Jesus is the first begotten from the dead and now we too have the promise of resurrection life.
JOIN ME FOR 31 DAYS OF PRAYER For the month of January, I will be teaching in both Sunday morning and evening services on prayer. We will learn how making prayer a first priority results in God’s blessings. Each Wednesday night for the month of January we encourage the church to come together to pray - to not just be hearers of the Word but doers also. In addition, I will be sending out a daily email for the 31 days of January as a daily devotional and prayer guide. This can serve as your daily time with the Lord or as a supplement to your own regular devotional habit. Will you join with me, as a church family, and give God this first month of this new year and believe that wonderful blessings will result? Blessings for your life, your marriage, your home, you finances, your business, your influence. If so, sign-up for the 31-day daily email devotional prayer guide and commit to seeking God, personally and as part of Bethel Church, for the 31 days of January.
