COMING IN JUNE
FROM ME TO YOU
By Pastor Tim Gibb
MY FRIEND TED
Ted and Bonnie Shuttlesworth I first came to know the Shuttlesworth family when I was a Bible College student at Zion Bible Institute in Barrington, Rhode Island from 1988 to 1991. A.E. Shuttlesworth and his wife Carlene were in Pastoral ministry with the Assemblies of God in 4 different states over 60 years and had 4 sons: Ted, Tim, Tiff and Terry. When I was in Bible College, all 4 sons were graduates of Zion, all were traveling evangelists (except for Tim who went into Pastoral ministry) and all were frequent ministry guests at Zion.

I will never forget services with Tim and Terry in my very first semester at Zion. They came to preach at our daily chapel service and the power of God fell. Classes were canceled for 3 days, if I remember correctly, as the power of God was moving on the campus. To me, these guys were wild in a good sense and I loved their Holy Ghost zeal and boldness in preaching and demonstrating the Gospel. Ted and Tiff were also frequent guests at Zion. Ted not only spoke at Zion Gospel Temple but was often in the New England area holding crusades in places like Fall River & Seekonk Massachusetts, along with Warren & East Providence Rhode Island. I would often drive to the weeknight meetings and just take in everything I could by watching Ted and being in those services. As an 18 to 20 year old Bible school student, I could not get enough of the fire of the Spirit in these men as they ministered. I remember one night in Warren, Rhode Island when Ted asked me to “hold that women’s wheelchair” and I witnessed the power of God raise that woman up and heal her crippled legs. I loved the passion as Ted would preach in his cowboy boots; and before long the tie would come off as he would jump and run and shout all over the platform and into the congregation. He preached the faith message. He preached salvation and healing. He not only preached but sang until the glory came down. I learned that Ted was mentored by, not only his father who was also a great preacher of the Word, but also by the great healing evangelist R.W. Schambach, who in turn was mentored by A.A. Allen. Ted was exactly like these men. Bold in faith and willing to go into the inner cities with his Gospel tent where many angels feared to tread.
From Left to Right: Terry, Tiff, Rodney Howard Browne, Tim, and Ted Shuttlesworth There is so much that I appreciate about Ted Shuttlesworth. His faith. His boldness. His preaching and singing. His demonstration of the Gifts of the Spirit. I also appreciate that he is willing to go anywhere to preach the Gospel no matter the size of the church. I am so blessed to call him a friend and Bethel is blessed to have him this month along with his dear wife Bonnie. Ted and Bonnie are approaching 40 years of full-time evangelistic work and have two adult children who are both active in the ministry. Their weekly television broadcast, Faith Alive, is seen in over 100 nations of the world. I encourage you to now make plans to be in all of these meetings at Bethel (May 15-20). The Word of Faith will be preached and the Gifts of the Spirit will be in operation. Pastor Tim Gibb
