In Genesis 2:15, God gave the original man Adam the specific instructions regarding the Garden of Eden: he was to tend to the garden and to keep (guard, protect) the garden. We also learn in Genesis 2 that there was a river that flowed out of the Garden. Jesus taught us in Luke 17:21 that “the kingdom of God is within you”. And then in John chapter 7 verse 38, Jesus said that “out of your innermost being will flow rivers of living water.” I believe that as God instructed man in the Garden to tend and to guard the Garden, so we must tend to and guard our spirits (our garden) because out of our spirit flows the rivers of our life (Proverbs 4:23). Now the only reason you have to protect or guard something is because there is the very real threat that what you have

may be stolen or taken away. Man in the Garden of Eden failed to protect what God had given them and as a result paid a heavy price. Jesus said in John 10:10 “the thief (Satan) comes to steal, to kill and to destroy.” How many today have suffered terrible loss and heartache simply because they did not tend to or protect that which God had given them? Paul the Apostle said in 2 Corinthians 2:11 that “lest Satan take advantage of us, we are not to be ignorant of his devices.” Satan has been quite successful in taking advantage of many, even the child of God, through ignorance and deception. Paul exhorts us to not to be ignorant of the devices and schemes of the devil. He tells us in Ephesians 6:11 to “put on the whole armour of God that you may be able to

stand against the wiles (schemes, plans) of the devil.” Beginning on Sunday September 9th, I am going to begin a 7 week series of messages on Sunday nights on “Spiritual Warfare: Winning in Battle”. In this series, we will understand from God’s Word: The Reality of Spiritual Conflict, Understanding the Tactics of Our Adversary, How to Protect yourself and your family from Spiritual Attack, Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, and The Power of Praying in the Spirit. I want to invite you to join with me these Sunday nights, as we learn together from God’s Word so that we find ourselves in the winning position in life.

The Story is a devotional book that goes through the stories of the Bible, in chronological order, reading like a novel, using the actual NIV text of Scripture. Each week Pastor Tim preaches from that weeks chapter. We have completed reading through the Old Testament and will resume with chapter 22 of The Story (New Testament) on Sept 16th. To purchase a copy of The Story, contact the church office or visit your local Christian bookstore.
MISSIONS REPORT
UKRAINE 2012 Ministering At the Orphan Camp in Skadovsk, Ukraine on the Black Sea.
BETHEL MISSIONS TRIP To UKRAINE AUGUST 2-16, 2012 After months of planning and prayer, our team of 15 from Bethel set out on a mission to Ukraine on Thursday August 2nd. We arrived in Kiev Ukraine on Friday Aug 3rd, weary from journey but excited for what we were about to experience. After seeing downtown Kiev and enjoying a Ukrainian supper, we spent the night at a Bible College.
The next day we drove 4 hours to Smila, Ukraine. After meeting Pastor Dennis and hearing his vision for the church, we experienced our first worship service in Smila in a rented movie theatre. The sense of God’s presence and the passion for worship brought tears to many on our team. What a powerful time of ministry as we prayed over the people.
We then drove another 4 hours to arrive for the night in Krivy Rog. The next morning our team was divided into 4 groups to minister in 4 local churches in Krivy Rog. After lunch, we drove 6 hours to the city of Skadovsk, on the Black Sea, this is where the Orphan Camp is located. Up bright and early, we began our day at
7AM at the Orphan camp where we were given a tour of the facilities. That morning we began our week of ministry with the orphans. We had 4 stations: Sports, Crafts, Games, and Bible Lesson. The camp was very well organized. We took 200 students every 2 hours on a 4 group rotation. We did this 3 times with a group of 200 students each day. That meant every 30 minutes we had a group of 40-60 kids we taught a Bible lesson to - we did this a total of 12 times each day.
Chantelle white The trip was a life-changing experience. Our team was such a blessing to work with. The highlight was spending time with the kids at the orphan camp. It was easy to fall in love with them, and much more difficult than expected to leave them behind. I would love the opportunity to return. Another amazing experi-

ence was the church services. As they worshipped in their language, and we in ours, there was such a sense of unity and presense of God. Thanks to all of those
At first, some of the kids were not warm to us, but after the Tuesday night program, we had won their hearts. On the Tuesday night, we performed a couple of skits for all 585 orphans and gave out gift bags to each child. This seemed to really open their hearts. On Thursday, the Bible lesson was on salvation. What an awesome day to see over 400 of the orphans stand to receive Christ into their lives! Before we left, we were also able to give a Youth Bible to every orphan. On Friday, when the team left after lunch to drive to Krivy Rog and join Pastor Tim for the final service of the Pastors conference, the camp director cried tears of appreciation and invited us to come back. On the Friday night service at the Pastors Conference, the people were waiting for the arrival of the Canadian team. During the worship, the people grabbed the hand of every team member, encouraging them to dance in worship to the Lord. The next day, Saturday, we drove 4 hours to Kolbayaki Ukraine. There we had an afternoon service in a small church that was filled to overflowing with people. Doug Nixon preached and we took all the people outside to pray for them as there simply was not enough room inside the church. After the service we drove another 4 hours to Poltava, Ukraine. On Sunday morning in Poltava, we ministered in 3 area churches, and then following lunch, Pastor Tim preached the final service at the main church in Poltava. That evening we drove 6 hours back to Kiev. We ended our time in Ukraine with a day off in Kiev which also happened to be Pastor Tricia’s birthday! Our trip was an amazing experience for all the team and a great success in the ministry!
from Bethel who supported us, with funding as well as with prayers. I would like to encourage all to pray about getting involved in this mission...I believe its just the beginning of something amazing!
carolyn zavitz I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of this trip to Ukraine. The children really touched my heart and it was a huge blessing to be able to connect with them and share God’s love with them. A year ago I would have never dreamed of seeing myself as part of a mission team, I wouldn’t have thought that I would have anything to offer. But God is full of grace and He has a way of stretching us and drawing out of us what He wants to use. I would encourage anyone who is even remotely thinking about going on a mission trip to prayerfully consider it. You will be blessed big time!
Chris dionne The experiences of this trip will be remembered for a lifetime. Building friendships with team members, children we were serving, translators and Christians from other parts of the world was priceless! Only thing that would make it better would be the ability to go back next year--which is what I intend to do. Thanks for all your support Bethel!
The highlight of the entire trip was to see well over 400 orphans respond to the invitation to receive Christ Bethel, we want to thank you for your generous support and prayers. This was not the trip of 15, but was the mission of a whole church. Through your generosity, we were able to purchase in advance of our trip toiletry items for all 585 orphan children and to purchase 2 brand new washing machines for the camp. We were also able to take 30 hockey bags / suitcases filled with supplies. Beautiful clothes for children, shoes, blankets, etc. So much was given that we were not able to take it all with us, but we were able to take to the Loads of Love centre in Chatham, ON (base for Ed Dickson’s ministry) and see that all the supplies will be shipped to Ukraine in a container going out this Fall. At the orphan camp, we fitted 50 orphan children with brand new shoes. With a generous donation from Sew On Fire ministries in Hamilton, ON, we were able to give every orphan child a gift bag of goodies (crayons, necklaces, paper, gum, balloons, small toys, toothbrush, etc.), as well as larger gift bags for each worker.
A donation from Colgate enabled us to give each orphan a new toothbrush and toothpaste. Bethel, you paid for each child to receive a Youth Bible as well as sporting items for the camp. When we got back from the trip, there were even more donations of clothes and quilted blankets, to fill our church van to bring to Chatham for the container.
getting the sports equipment ready
We want to thank the ladies knitting group out of Peoples Church for their donation of beautiful items for the orphan children. While we were at the camp, we learned that there was a great need for medicine. We were able to provide funds to purchase the medicine that was needed for the camp at that time.

PROJECT UKRAINE: SMILA CHURCH When Ed Dickson, of Loads of Love ministry, came to Bethel in early 2012 and met with the Leadership Team at Bethel, there was an immediate sense that God was directing us to help the church in Ukraine. So convinced of this, that a missions budget of $30,000 was set for 2012 for Ukraine - to help orphans and to bless the church. When our team traveled to Ukraine, we also went with the leading of the Lord to find a church that we could really be a blessing to. That church is Smila. Pastor Dennis and Oxsana planted the church in Smila, Ukraine 7 years ago with nothing but faith in God. Today the church numbers over 100 with in addition to 15 other house church plants in neighboring villages. The church, Church of Praise, currently is renting a local movie theatre, but this arrangement is problematic. They really need their own place. As a result of a search, a piece of property right in the centre of the city on the main road, with a bus stop right in front, was found. The purchase price of $32,000 dollars is considered fair for the size and location in Smila’s real estate market. Already from other Canadian friends, $11,000 has been raised.
BETHEL HAS THE UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE LAND AND BUILD A CHURCH BUILDING IN SMILA, UKRAINE FOR THE GLORY OF GOD. We feel directed of the Lord to partner with this Smila church and Pastor Dennis. We see our commitment to be at least 3 years. First, to raise the remaining funds to purchase the property. Then over the next year or two, to actually provide the finances to build a church building. $21,000 is needed in this first step to buy the property. We already have $10,000 given for Ukraine - we only need $11,000 to go to make this happen. We see our partnership not only in finances, but in Pastor Tim having a mentoring relationship with Pastor Dennis and to have teams go to Smila, to encourage the church: construction teams, ministry teams, evangelistic teams, etc.

pastor Tim’s Trip To Uganda, Africa Postponed Due To EBola Virus Just 4 days before Pastor Tim was scheduled to leave for a month of ministry in Ukraine and Uganda Africa, international news sources began reporting that there was an outbreak of the Ebola virus, right in the very district that Pastor Tim was to conduct the Pastors School. Ebola is a very serious virus that has no cure or vaccine, and has a 90% fatality rate for those who acquire the virus. Tragically to date, 24 people have died from this virus. But thankfully, the Uganda government responded quickly along with international aid, resulting in the virus being contained and the threat now appears to be eliminated. Pastor Tim is currently working on plans to reschedule his trip and to see the Pastors School take place, along with an evangelistic crusade in Fort Portal, Uganda. Thank you to those who contributed financially for the Pastors School. The necessary funds were raised and they will be used when the school is re-scheduled. Your prayers are also appreciated in this effort.
