Construction to Begin on Wellness Center Construction on Bethel’s new Wellness Center will begin in November. Thanks to the generosity of investors, Bethel can build the new center without going into debt and without using operating expenses. Says Bethel University President Jay Barnes, “This building addition will be an important boost to campus programming, corporate health, and student recruiting.” With the purchase of the Pine Tree building and its 200,000 square feet of space and 42 acres of land, design plans for the original Wellness Center have changed. The re-designed facility will be in the same location—the north side of the Robertson Center (RC) and the Hagstrom Center (HC)—but will be three levels instead of four, with the fitness center on two levels and space for the biokinetics program on another level. The project is estimated to cost $11 million, which is less than phase one of the previous plan. Barnes encourages Bethel community members to praise God “for

His faithfulness and providence through the planning stages of this project and ask for His guidance and care as we move into the construction stage.” If you would like to contribute contact the Office of Development at 651.635.8050. Read a news story to learn more about the project.
