NSF Grant Awarded to Biology Professor Bethel Breaks Ground on New Wellness Center Bethel University broke ground on a new 22,500-square-foot Wellness Center on October 8 as hundreds of students, student-athletes, staff, faculty, donors, alumni, Board of Trustee members, friends, and vendors associated with the project gathered to celebrate the occasion. Assistant Professor of Biology Sara Wyse has been awarded a three-year, $67,309 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for research on the collaborative project, “From the learner’s perspective: Unpacking the why and how of model-based learning about biological systems.” Wyse ’05, is Bethel’s fourth current NSF grant recipient in the College of Arts & Sciences. Bethel’s Vision and Strategic Objectives At the Bethel University Board of Trustee meetings in October, board members affirmed the five strategic options presented by the Strategic Coalition, a group of trustees, senior administrators, and faculty who are developing a vision and set of strategic objectives to guide the university during the next 10 years. Final recommendations on the strategic options will be presented to the board for their approval at their February 2015 meeting.
