Board meetings occur every 1st Tuesday of the month at 5:00pm at the Campbell Creek Science Center. General public welcome.

Friends, We have done it again- ensured that thousands of Alaskan children and families got to experience another great year of learning and exploring science and nature on the Campbell Tract with the staff of the Campbell Creek Science Center. Last year we were saddened and reminded of the value of the CCSC when it closed during the government "shut-down." As a federally operated center, staff was unable work and do what they do best--teach hands on science and students were not able to come on field trips to learn about moose habitat or explore animal tracks. The government shutdown was a great reminder that the Campbell Creek Science Center needs diversified support to ensure programs and activities continue in the absence of federal dollars. Although the temporary closing of the Science Center was difficult, we were able to maintain and sustain programs with the savings from our Friends who contributed over $245, 854 worth of volunteer hours. In our effort to be good fiscal stewards, the Friends board of directors diversified the savings accounts so that in addition to our endowment, operating account, and savings account, we have an investment account with MorganStanley which will earn higher interest on our savings. Month after month we review income and expenditures to keep the organization in good financial standing. We want our funds...your funds, to support hands-on science education now and into the future. We want more volunteers, more friends, and more outdoor experiences for Alaskans to appreciate what we have just outside our backdoors. Sincerely, We look forward to sharing more good news for 2014. Sincerely, Amanda B. Smith, Board President
