Yoplait Yogurt Is Not Too Sweet To Wildlife Murray Environmental Student Society students discover Yoplait Yogurt causing wildlife endangerment across the United States. Land between the Lakes has found multiple animals dead due to the design of the cups. MESS a group of Wildlife and conservation biology students at Murray State University brought this to the attention of Yoplait Yogurt Company. Seymour Days, junior at MSU with a major in wildlife and conservation biology was the first to witness the problem. Animals are getting their heads trapped in the cups, which is causing them to die. The most common animal that has been found is a skunk because of their arrow shaped heads. “My friends and I were hiking in the Land between the Lakes area when we saw a dead possum with the Yoplait container on its head,” Days said. “We told our MESS advisor and he said it was an ongoing problem that has yet to be fixed.” MESS started a social media and letter campaign to save the lives of wildlife animals. “We are grateful for MESS and their campaign,” said Becky O’Grady, CEO of Yoplait Yogurt USA. Yoplait Yogurt Company changed the design of their cups to have lids that fold out. This design allows animals to have two areas of the cup to grip so they can free themselves. . Murray State University was founded in 1922 and has roughly 10,998 students enrolled. The university offers excellent curriculum, great organizations and scholarships for all students along with six associate programs, 68 Bachelor’s programs, 41 Master’s and specialist programs and three Doctoral programs. ###

Wilson Room 209 Murray, Ky 42071 Hello Marcie Hinton! First and foremost, thank you for your dedication and commitment you have given to our station. We can’t believe it’s been three years already. Where has the time gone? Well it’s that time of year again where we start asking listeners for donations. I understand you are a sustaining member but did you know there is another form of membership that provides more benefits for YOU? At WKMS we care about YOU and what we can do to help provide important information and entertainment. We realize that you already make a very generous donation, but did you know that we have another level of donating that’s called the Legacy Society? By including WKMS in your will, trust or estate plans, you make a powerful commitment to ensuring that people in our region have access to information and important stories that educate us, inspire us, and help us make sense of our world. We want to be able to provide to our listeners for as long as we can. We value the three year commitment you have provided for us so far. We hope to continue having a relationship with you as a listener. You do so much more than donate; you help provide others the opportunity to receive a gift that others don’t have.
