Dahan Lecture with Alan Dershowitz - A Night to Remember Nearly 1,200 people attended the 2nd Annual Dahan Lecture, held in Beth Tfiloh‘s Dahan Sanctuary on Sunday, April 26. The lecture honored the legacy of Beth Tfiloh‘s most generous benefactors, Haron and Rachel Dahan, of blessed memory. The featured speaker, Alan Dershowitz, engaged in a lively dialogue with Rabbi Mitchell Wohlberg, who grew up just six blocks away from Mr. Dershowitz in the Borough Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Dershowitz, who was then known as “Avi,” attended the

SENIOR SEMINAR IN POLAND & ISRAEL - Our Senior class enjoyed a trip of a lifetime on their four-week trip which began with a meaningful visit to Poland, including Shabbat in Krakow. Highlights in Israel have included camping in the Negev, touring Jerusalem, hiking in the Gallilee and Golan Heights, a challenge Bike Ride, a boat ride on the Kineret, and Army Day.

New Synagogue Life Committee Formed The BT leadership has created a new Synagogue Life Committee to provide strategic guidance for cultivating and Calla Samuels growing an actively engaged community and increasing awareness of the benefits of membership for congregants of all Teri Gitlitz ages and stages of life. All of our rabbis, as well as select staff, will serve on the committee together with representatives from every arm of the BT family, including Holly Venick each division of the Day School, Hebrew School, BT Camps, Mercaz, Brotherhood, Sisterhood, alumni/ young adults, Development, Religious Services, Social Action, new members, seasoned members, past and current lay leadership and Shul ushers. The Synagogue Life Committee will supercede the prior Membership Committee, and will continue to review membership statistics and follow trends, but from a more multi-disciplinary approach. Our hope is to expand our membership base by engaging each demographic of congregants that Beth Tfiloh encompasses. The new Synagogue Life Committee will be chaired by Calla Samuels and Teri Gitlitz, and Holly Venick will serve as the primary staff person. BOYS LACROSSE - The Boys Varsity Lacrosse team advanced to their MIAA division championships with an 11-1 record, and a #1 seed. Despite a strong second half comeback, BT came up short, losing 12-7 to Indian Creek. Congrats to the Warriors on a great season! CHAZAK CAMPAIGN - Following the Chazak Campaign dinner, celebrating a successful capital campaign that raised more than $18 million from 120 BT families, nearly 1,200 community members enjoyed a lively dialogue between Mr. Alan Dershowitz and Rabbi Wohlberg at the Annual Dahan Lecture, where they discussed the future of Jews in American and around the world.
YOM HA’ATZMAUT - BT held an epic Yom Ha'Atzmaut celebration for Israel's 67th birthday! From the festive decorations all over the building, Israeli-style lunches, races, jewelry making, an AWESOME-ut HS color war, and the school-wide celebration, it was a day of excitement and happiness all around.
