BAR/BAT MITZVAHS
Bar and Bat Mitzvah Class Projects For their Mitzvah projects, many of this year’s Bar and Bat Mitzvah class members corresponded with Israeli teenagers that lost a parent in the IDF, made lunches for the homeless in Baltimore City, and spoke to senior adults in our BT community to keep them connected during Covid. Several chose to do additional volunteer projects as well, as indicated below.

Daughters of Huppit and David Miller September 4, 2021 Gefen and Shaya attend 7th grade at Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School. They are the sisters of Eliav Miller ‘30, granddaughters of Dr. Rami Avraham Bartov and the late Sima Tayeb, Bonnie Perlow and Kenneth Miller (and Melissa Boone). Gefen’s hobbies include reading, creative writing, history, and film/cinema. Shaya’s hobbies include music, singing, piano and creative writing. Both girls did several mitzvah projects, including raising funds for Ashkelon Educational Farm and volunteering at various senior centers.

Daughter of Allison and Joseph Kehne September 25, 2021 Carly attends 7th grade at The Glenwood Academy. She is the sister of Jacob Kehne ‘30 and the granddaughter of Harris and Nancy Goldberg. Carly loves to sing, dance, and ride her bicycle. In addition to the group Mitzvah projects, Carly is collecting toiletries to bring to women and children at Sarah’s Hope at Hannah More Shelter.

Roni attends 7th grade at the Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School. He is the brother of Eliram ‘29, Yair ’31 and Kayla ‘33, and the grandson of Shoshana and Rabbi Boruch Meir Leibowitz, and Estelle and Harvey Posner. His hobbies include reading, baking and playing video games.

Samira attends 8th grade at the Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School. Milo attends 7th grade at the Jemicy School. They are the sister and brother Olivia ’28, Naia, Ella ’31 and Romeo ’34; the granddaughter of Mira and Nissim Dahan and Lyuda and Boris Katz; and the greatgranddaughter of the late Rachel z”l and Haron z”l Dahan, Lily and Maklouf Mani, Olga and Lev Tulchinsky and Rosa and Mikhail Katz. Samira’s hobbies include dancing, singing and gymnastics. Milo’s hobbies include playing basketball, traveling and learning about computers.

Noah attends 8th grade at Jemicy School. He is the brother of Dylan ’28 and Mia ’32; the grandson of Nissim and Mira Dahan and Carole and the late Kenny Black z”l; and greatgrandson of the late Rachel z”l and Haron z”l Dahan, Makhlouf and Lily Mani, Isadore and Fay Black, and Sigmund and Dora Suess. Noah’s hobbies include traveling and sports.

Ami attends 7th grade at Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School. He is the brother of Yoni ’24, and the grandson of Ann and the late Sheldon Berman z”l and Jack and the late Denise Bresler z”l. His hobbies are playing sports and video games. For his mitzvah project, Ami published a coloring book with his original drawings. All proceeds from the sales benefit the National Brain Tumor Society in memory of his grandfather.

Carly attends 7th grade at Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School. She is the sister of Zachary ‘26, and the granddaughter of Michael and Irene Sherman and Marvin and Barbara Abramson. In her free time, Carly loves hanging out with her friends and adorable puppy, doing art and participating on the Coppermine gymnastics team. For her mitzvah project, Carly volunteered with Share Baby, an organization that helps families to secure supplies for their babies. She sorted and helped organize baby clothing and winter items and plans to continue throughout the year.

Daughter of Steven and Jamie Sherman Sunday, October 24, 2021 Scarlett attends 7th grade at Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School. She is the sister of Wyatt ‘22 and Dex ‘24, and the granddaughter of Michael and Irene Sherman, Louis and Leslie Erkes, and Harvey Greenberg. In Scarlett’s free time she enjoys lacrosse and hanging with her friends. She loves painting and photography. She also loves spending time with her dog, Bo. For her mitzvah project Scarlett volunteered with Share Baby, an organization that helps families to secure supplies for their babies. She sorted and

Holly and Penny attend 7th grade at Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School. They are the sisters of Sydney ‘33, and the granddaughters of Marc and Jill Lieberman, and Mary and Nuchum Segal. Holly’s hobbies include dancing, singing, acting, skiing, playing lacrosse, and hanging out with friends. Penny’s hobbies include participating in stage/ tech crew, visual arts, skiing, playing softball, volleyball and basketball, and playing the flute. In addition to the group mitzvah projects, Holly and Penny delivered meals to seniors who could not leave their homes.

Jesse and Helen Mashbaum are parents of BT school alumni Michael Mashbaum ’98 and Gabrielle Mashbaum ’01. The Mashbaums are both retired.

Dr. Leland is a dentist and is a cousin of our member, Larry Aiken.
Barbara and Cantor Edwin Gerber
Edwin is a retired hazzan and Barbara is a retired social worker.
Philippa and Justin Lichterman
Justin and Philippa and their children, Jakub ’25 and Eitan ’28 recently relocated to Baltimore. Justin is an attorney with Facebook. Jakub is a 9th grader at Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School and Eitan is a 6th grader.
Jessica ’05 and Samuel Bazian
Samuel works with information security for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and BT alumna Jessica is a nurse. They have two children: Raphael Dov ’35, who attends Beth Tfiloh PreSchool’s 4’s class, and Rena Miriam ’36, who is in the 2’s program.
Rachel Bob
Rachel is a senior claims resolution manager with Gallagher-Bassett Prosight Specialty. Her son, Jaron ’36, is attending Beth Tfiloh PreSchool’s Little Me program this year. Rachel is the daughter of our member Joan Bob.
Gideon Wolf ’10
Gideon is a student in the M.D./Ph.D. program at the University of Maryland. He is the son of our members Faith and Dr. Edward Wolf.
