From giving to our Annual Campaign and supporting scholarships at Spotlight, to creating endowments that secure our future and to your unparalleled giving to our Centennial Campaign, we are grateful for the growth and strength that you have made possible.

Philanthropy at Beth Tfiloh

Our thriving Beth Tfiloh community is built upon the foundation of philanthropy. With close to 1,000 students enrolled in the Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School and nearly 1,200 Beth Tfiloh Congregation member families, your financial support has a powerful impact on our school and shul today — and for many years to come.

As part of the foundation of our BT village, your investment in BT can take many forms. While our Annual Campaign provides necessary resources to keep our school and shul in motion, our renowned Spotlight annual scholarship event makes a Beth Tfiloh education possible for more than 50 percent of our students. Legacy giving and gifts to our endowments ensure an ongoing connection to BT by providing permanent flexibility in both our school and synagogue’s operating budgets, supporting the engaging adult education programs, inspiring religious services, meaningful professional development opportunities, competitive staff compensation packages, and countless other areas that are critical to Beth Tfiloh’s overall success. Our Centennial Campaign secured an incredible $26,000,000 that will help sustain Beth Tfiloh for many years to come.

Our Annual Campaign is a Beth Tfiloh community-wide effort that provides the resources necessary to keep our village in motion. HOLISTIC STEM INTEGRATION

Our Middle School STEM Center, High School STEM Center, and new Biotechnology Center (coming soon!), support holistic STEM integration.

COMMUNITY ACTIVISM WITH TEMPLE X

Students from Beth Tfiloh and the Temple X School, based out of Liberty Grace Church of God in Baltimore City, are learning together about enacting environmental change and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).

This initiative was made possible in part by the Jacob and Hilda Blaustein Fund of The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore.

CELEBRATING THE JOY OF JUDAISM

• Lower School students celebrated yearly milestone programs gifting them a personal Siddur, Chumash, Pirkei Avot, and Sefer Tehillim (The Book of Psalms).

• Middle School students spent time creating B’nei Mitzvah ritual items including the making of tefillin, candlesticks, challot, and more at their annual Mitzvah Week.

• The High School Shabbaton at Capital Camps provided time for our students to connect Jewishly and spiritually.

VARIETY OF RELIGIOUS SERVICES

BT offers a broad spectrum of davening experiences, including the Dahan Sanctuary service, Young Family Minyan, Teen Minyan, and groups for preschool and lower schoolaged children.

YOUNG FAMILY PROGRAMMING

Beth Tfiloh’s Young Family Minyan, which started with 20 families, grew to 60 families in 2023 and davened together throughout this past year.

IVDU

IVDU, Beth Tfiloh’s new program center, serves as a source for authentic, inspiring, and relevant Jewish learning, engagement, and connection for our shul members, such as Women and Wisdom, Moms and Midrash, and Shabbat Scholars-in-Residence.

Beth Tfiloh’s college guidance program provides an individualized approach for each student.

Class of 2023 highlights:

• Received $2 million in merit scholarships

• 76% acceptance rate to the University of Maryland, far surpassing the university’s average acceptance rate of 44%.

• 30% are participating in an Israel gap year program

LOVE OF ISRAEL

• Our seniors experienced the trip of a lifetime on the Natanzon/Taylor Senior Class Trip to Poland and Israel.

• Middle School students created a Yom Hazikaron memorial museum honoring fallen soldiers and victims of terror.

• This year’s Lower School Israel fair focused on the many cultural communities that comprise Israeli culture and the ways in which Jews from all around the world have come to call Israel home.

COMPREHENSIVE ARTS PROGRAM

Our Creative Arts department provided instrumental, drama, music, visual art, choral, dance, and creative movement classes. We hosted 16 concerts and theatre productions in front of a live audience providing students the opportunities of set design, tech crew, choreography, costume design and more.

COMPETITIVE ATHLETICS

More than 250 middle and high school students have participated this year in interscholastic sports consisting of 43 teams, bringing home three team championship victories for BT.

SYNAGOGUE ENDOWMENTS

The Endowment helps to maintain the affordability of our membership dues and High Holiday seat fees. This allocation also provides flexibility within the Congregation’s budget for the support of adult education, youth programming, religious services, and many other important facets of Congregation life. IVDU Program Center and Endowment

This past year, our IVDU programming center provided 78 engagement and educational opportunities for young families and children, families of middle schoolers and teens, empty nesters and grandparents, new members, and adults of all ages. Programs this year included Learning and L’chaim for men, Women and Wisdom, Shabbat Table Talk for parents of teens, Shabbat Dinner with Scholars series, several new daily and weekly Torah classes, Explanatory Shabbat Service, and Grandparent and Me holiday activities.

SCHOOL

The school’s endowment provides much needed resources to enable Beth Tfiloh to thrive today and to be financially secure for tomorrow. Each year, the allocation of our endowment draw provides flexibility within the school’s operating budget, allowing for the support of professional development, teacher salaries, and countless other areas that are critical to the overall success of the program. In addition, 20% of the scholarship dollars needed each year come from the endowment draw. The school’s endowment is invested through the Community Investment Fund at THE ASSOCIATED.
