From Rabbi Mitchell Wohlberg and Dr. Zipora Schorr “Adversity does not create character— it reveals it.” - James Lane Allen This year’s Spotlight certainly demonstrates the truth of that statement. Our generous donors have demonstrated their true character — as loyal supporters of our school community in the face of unforeseen economic challenges. Our Spotlight volunteers have demonstrated their true character — as passionate ambassadors for a BT education, willing to adapt to changing circumstances, and willing to make a difficult ask at a difficult time. And our professionals have demonstrated their true character — as an incredibly talented team committed to our school’s mission: providing a Beth Tfiloh education for as many deserving students as possible.
And so we are most humbled by the outpouring of support for our Spotlight 2020 at Home Scholarship Relief Fund event this evening. Thank you for joining us to celebrate our school and for helping us to teach and reach the hundreds of children whose character and very identity we inspire, and who inspire us. All it does is make all the difference in the world. With gratitude, Dr. Zipora Schorr Director of Education

From the Development Team
S
potlight planning season is always a highlight for our Development team. We thrive on the energy and enthusiasm of our incredible volunteers and take tremendous satisfaction in the work we do to help so many of our students attend our beloved school. Spotlight has grown to become a highlight for our entire school community. By mid-March, we were on course for another blockbuster event. Then everything changed. In early April, when we realized that our Spotlight plans would need to pivot, we never imagined just how responsive and generous our BT community would be. Many of our extraordinarily generous sponsors have gone above and beyond to support BT this year and members of our community from far and wide have shown their support for and belief in Beth Tfiloh through a gift to our Scholarship Relief Fund. We are humbled by your response and most grateful for your generosity. Spotlight 2020 at Home came to life through our committed volunteers, diligent Development team, incredible Beth Tfiloh professional and board leadership, and our talented Marketing Department. From our homes to yours this evening, we thank you for making our work so meaningful and for allowing us to be the stewards of your generosity.

Howie Mandel
H
owie Mandel has remained a constant force in show business for more than 30 years. Mandel currently serves as executive producer and host of the game show Deal or No Deal. Howie has served as a judge for a decade on NBC’s hit summer talent competition series, America’s Got Talent, which premieres its 14th season in May. He was also a judge on the global winter edition of the series, America’s Got Talent: The Champions. Howie recently released his first solo special in 20 years, Howie Mandel Presents Howie Mandel at the Howie Mandel Comedy Club, on Showtime in January. He can also be seen in his Nat Geo Wild series, Animals Doing Things, which he co-hosts with his son Alex. His additional work as a host, actor, and/or executive producer includes Take It All and Howie Do It for NBC, Deal With It for TBS, and Mobbed for Fox. Previously, Mandel received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program for Deal or No Deal and a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Game Show Host for the syndicated version of the show. Mandel’s versatile career has encompassed virtually all aspects of the entertainment spectrum, including television, film and stage. From his work on the Emmy Award-winning St. Elsewhere, to the
international animated children’s series Bobby’s World, Mandel has become a mainstay of the American comedy scene. In 2009, Mandel added author to his resume when he released his frank, funny and no-holds-barred memoir, Here’s the Deal: Don’t Touch Me. The memoir revealed his ongoing struggle with OCD and ADHD, and how it has shaped his life and career. It made The New York Times bestseller list in its first week and remained on the list for several consecutive weeks. Mandel has done countless comedy specials both on cable and network television. He has also hosted his own syndicated talk show, The Howie Mandel Show, and continues to be a mainstay on the talk show circuit. He also continues to perform as many as 200 standup comedy shows each year throughout the U.S. and Canada.
