ALŽBETA (BETTY) LAURINCOVÁ I am a young Slovak architect with experience in a variety of projects and environments. I enjoy working as an active member of a project team from the first drafts, just as developing my own ideas. One of my strengths is flexibility in softwares, scales, phases of the project and quick adaptability. When working on a project I can multitask and view the challenge from many perspectives. I specifically enjoy working on projects based on social research, human perception of space and activity. I am very enthusiastic about the graphical part of every project, diagrams, colour schemes, composition and animation. date of birth: 1.2.1989 hometown: Bratislava, Slovakia nationality: slovak current location: Stockholm, Sweden contact: betty.laurincova@gmail.com +421907063517 +46762800490 WORK Sept. 2015 - Sept. 2016 Stockholm

Proposal for invited competition by private developer in Slovakia, 2016 Team: Martin Arfalk, Patrick Verhoeven, Danny Bridson, Andrei Deacu, Betty Laurincova
Malacky is a small town of approximately 18 000 people located on the western edge of the Záhorie Military District. The Záhorie covers an area of almost 30 000 ha and contains a diverse mosaic of rare ecologies. Flowing rivers, marshy wetlands, dry sand dunes and rich pine forests define the strong and unique landscape of the region. Malacky can be understood to be a product of two distinct factors, a robust and compact historical urban structure and a beautiful and productive surrounding landscape. In the Pines channels these two narratives as inspiration for the new proposed district. The study site is located between two distinct historical areas: Karolina’s Yard and Olša’s place. The plan tells the story of two locals, Karolina and Olša, each character representing the two diverging yet complementary aspects of Malacky’s past and future.

Proposal for the first phase of Nordic Built Challenge competition, 2015 Team: Martin Arfalk, Patrick Verhoeven, Andrei Deacu, Betty Laurincova and Dyvik & Fasting Arkitekter
Trygve Lies plass is a huge opportunity. The square forms the centralising element of Furuset, a small, but growing suburb. Furuset deserves a space that celebrates the qualities that make it special. Trygve Lies plass should embrace and encourage the multicultural diversity of its users in a proud, democratic and flexible way. By maintaining an inclusive and fluid design strategy the urban realm can take shape in response to resident’s needs, economic conditions and emerging potentials and challenges. Our main concept is based on rolling out ‘urban carpets’ – from the inside to outside, from one corner to corner. The carpets form the connecting structure of the space, highlighting building entrances, public activities, handling stormwater, helping to make biking efficient and comfortable and can grow to encompass more possibilities.

Vaasa Ravirata, second phase of competition held in 2014 team: Martin Arfalk, Patrick Verhoeven, Andrei Deacu, Maria Gregorio, Betty Laurincova
I joined the project of Vaasa Ravirata in its second phase. The initial design was given a first place in a competition in 2014. The proposal expands the city following its original grid. The grid is broken using carefully placed diagonals to create variety of public spaces and connecting the new neighbourhood with its surroundings. In the second phase we studied the new grid options and adjustments according to latest changes. New density and typology requirements had to be taken into account. We studied variety of typologies, block structures and parking options using references from Vaasa plan, diagrams and physical model. We created mixed typology blocks, boulevards and green streets using the quality of storm water system in the area.

PLACES OF FEAR social status of location
Chorvátske rameno is a man-made canal axis of the residential part of Bratislava ...where am Iof ? Petržalka. Petržalka has been suffering from many urban problems, as a result unfinished planning, postponing and cancelling the metro construction or lack of...where am I ? amenities and gathering spaces. This process resulted into making Petržalka a place that most people are afraid of. The rumours about high crime rate and many other urban myths are lately not even true, but the bad reputation stays. Our goal was to turn Petržalka into attractive place, where not only current residents love to live but it also attracts people from the other parts of the city. There are big development plans for the area already in progress, and our idea was to prepare people AHAA!! and the place for this change with smaller interventions. We analysed what makes scary places so scary and how change that. The steps were toAHAA!! make the places eligible, easy to define then give them a purpose, a specific attraction to bring people into the area and the last step is the already planned construction around the new tram rail along this axis.

Free Time Center, Master Thesis project, 2014 supervisor: Márius Žitňanský
The number of inhabitants in Petrzalka (residential part of Bratislava) will grow to the year 2030 thanks to new construction and development plans. This will increase the demand after free time activities and services. Currently there is one free time center for the whole area, which in the future will be able to only hold up the capacity of northern part of Petrzalka. The southern part thou offers great options for the new free or lockers, s, changing time center, that can be connected with the surrounding nature. My design is based winter aonstorage current interest of inhabitants and the use of environment to create new activities. deck nd ice skating The architecture form based onpool, my previous withisnatural place urban work study resulting into smaller ckers masses orientedforonsunbathing, view and connection axes creating outside spaces for various exercising, smaller functions and activities. Since I am fascinated by the influence of the space to and boats people, actions and atmosphere I took references from old photographs of Petrzalka with its lovely corners and hidden spots. The objects create variety of unexpected spaces that hold various activities and form connections between action, people and ice-cream environment. research sources: http://www.cvcgessayova.eu/ http://www.petrzalka.sk/oblasti/

In the years 2014-2015 I collaborated as a freelancer with various studios in Bratislava. I was included in the finalisation phase dealing with graphics and representation of the proposals. My work included 3D modelling, rendering, vector graphic design of presentation materials but mostly photoshop post production of images. The images in this portfolio are from landscape project JAMA by AtelierArt (in collaboration with Lukáš Radošovský) and competition proposal of restoration of the hotel Danube by BKU (Bogár Králik Urban architects).
