CREDITS | To’ak Chocolate Special thanks to James Le Compte and Jerry Toth. Their mission is to transform the way the world experiences dark chocolate, elevating its making and tasting. To’ak is working with local farmers, conservationists, and multiple universities to protect the world's oldest and rarest variety of cacao and nurse it back from the brink of extinction.

THE WORLD’D RAREST AND MOST EXPENSIVE C
Everything began in the middle of a forest in Ecuador. Jerry Toath, the co-founder and his team, use the oldest and rarest variety of cacao on earth and they only release extremely limited editions -as few as 100 bars. Chocolate is aged they way whisky producers age their whisky, using a variety of different barrels sourced from around the world.
To’ak (pronounced Toe-Ahk) means “earth” and “tree,” which together represent the true source of all chocolate. LUXURY BRANDS BOOK | FEBRERO 2018

Every single bar is presented in a hand-crafted Spanish Elm wood box with the individual bar number engraved on the back. To’ak is the pioneer of luxury dark chocolate, they also work hard on-the-ground, to conserve history’s most cherished variety of cacao before it goes extinct. Their visual identity is based on the hand on the ancient Ecuatorian cultures and on the other hand on the contemporary concept of sustainable luxury. The brand has released seven editions, from two different collections. The “Harvest Collection” and the “Vintage Collection”. To’ak presents its products in a carefully assembled box made of fine eco-friendly paper, with elegant embossing and imprints. Inside the presentation box is a wooden box, made from Ecuadorian Spanish Elm Wood, one of the few ecologically sustainable options in Ecuador and the same wood in which their ferment their cacao. The tasting utensil is made with Ecuadorian Bamboo wood. The chocolate bar, featuring a roasted cacao bean in the middle, is hand wrapped in two layers of specialty paper. The taste is an experience for all the senses. A dark and bright color, a dry and strong sound when breaking, which proves its purity; an enveloping aroma, a mild flavor. A fine and pure chocolate, the result of a meticulous work of selection and equipment, the mere fact of that luxury experience. To’ak Chocolate
