BEYOND THE BODY by Tandra Garvin
Beyond The Body
Sometimes in the golden years of our lives there are many contributing factors to our declining health. Medical challenges play a part but the real path to feeling well is through fortifying your mind and soul as we treat the body. We encourage you to start each day focused on conquering, which empowers us to overcome.

What do you need to conquer today?
Start each day with a grateful heart, focused on what you have rather than what you do not or wish you had. What can you be thankful for today that shifts your focus and stirs your joy? Meditate on those things and conquer each day.
Invest in yourself!
Do not wait for others to invest or fund your dreams; they don’t work unless you do. Do you have educational or professional goals? Further your education, attend conferences, keep reading and studying. Do not limit yourself based on your current circumstances; have vision to see beyond where you are right now.
Self-care is not selfish.
Take care of yourself so you can rightly be there to care for others –family, friends or professional partners. My career as a nurse practitioner is centered around caring for and meeting the needs of others. This great responsibility always presents the temptation to put others first— ALWAYS. I remind myself that others cannot drink from an empty cup, therefore it is essential for me to take time out for self-care. Every chance I get, I am doing things I enjoy with those I love to refresh and be refilled.
