by Bojan Schianetz Understanding the Human Brain The human brain is made up of various areas which have different/individual functions. The hypothalamus gland which is a major nerve area and is located at the base of the brain. With the help of the pituitary gland, the hypothalamus is the one responsible in controlling a person’s appetite, thirst, sleep pattern, temperature and sexual urges. It is also the pituitary gland that regulates the physical growth of a person, the puberty and the pregnancy stage too. This gland releases endorphins that act as a powerful painkiller and anti-depressant. Everything that the pituitary gland does especially being in charge of the endocrine system is coming from the hypothalamus gland. Another gland in the endocrine system is the Pineal gland. This small-size gland is called the “seat of the soul”, our third eye and the source of our imagination. It is also the link between our spirit and the physical body. Importantly, as we age, the pineal gland is susceptible to calcification

particularly with accumulated exposure to toxins such as fluoride. The pineal gland is a target for fluoride as it absorbs more fluoride than any other physical matter in the body, even bones. As the pineal gland affects so much other enzyme and endocrine activity including melatonin and serotonin production, which is important for our WEEKLY E-NEWS sleep and mood, it is important to look at strategies to decalcify our pineal gland. One simple strategy is getting frequent exposure to outdoor sunshine, 20 minutes or so at a time will help stimulate a fluoride calcified pineal gland. Just make sure you take off your hat. In the human body, it is the nervous system that works as a communication system that links all areas to one another through neuropeptides. Once disturbed or blocked, the communication between the brain and the other parts of the body is interrupted. Understanding Headaches Headaches happen due to many causes. A major cause is ongoing physical and emotional stress. Headaches are also often triggered by food sensitivities or fatigue. Most of the time, headaches are indications that we are working too much, doing too much, getting out of touch with our inner being and in the end, overloading the system. It causes the blood vessels to be constricted and limit the supply of oxygen of the brain. Persistent headaches can also point to: -Suppressed or unexpressed emotions such as anger, resentment, fear -Self-doubts, fear of failure, worry, and hating one’s self -Stubbornness, strict and unbending thought processes, -Resisting and opting out in participating in events -Taking on jobs that causes you to being overworked, stressed and filled with tension all over the body -Strong willed and controlling -Self centeredness

Once you experience headaches frequently, it is advised that you keep a diary or notes where you can keep a journal of the time and circumstances, food eaten, and the emotional conditions surrounding you. Try to narrow down or describe the pain that you feel, what part is it throbbing in the head, the length and severity of the pain. Be also aware what were you feeling before you experienced the headache and after. Keeping a journal of your headache will let you know what is actually happening to you. Eventually, you will notice that - there is a person or thing that you have been resisting - you are using more of your head than your heart - there is someone or something you are trying to protect - you are doing everything without asking others to assist you Knowing this would help you understand the causes of your headaches and how to treat them effectively. Understanding Migraines Migraines happen because of the blood supply restriction in the brain which usually goes on for hours. Symptoms while having migraines would include vomiting, nausea and a need to rest in a darkened room. Physically, migraines are often caused by allergic reactions to food like chocolates, cheese, red wine, wheat or coffee. Migraines or headaches can also be commonly due to liver stress, which tends to wake people up at 1-3 am in the morning when the liver is most active. Liver stress however, can also have emotional roots from ongoing anger or frustration. The restriction of oxygen from the brain to the body indicates that there is a certain restriction in the energy coming from within. There is something that holds you back from participating fully. There is a desire to push someone or something away so you can completely hide from them – even yourself. In my experience migraines are connected with psychological and emotional needs that were not met. Often there is a constant fear of failing. Other than this, here are some more indications that you should be aware of: - repressing completely anger and rage that would eventually cause nervous tension and frustration - perfectionist tendencies that wants to control spontaneity or natural expression of emotions

- held back sexual drive to the point of being uncontrollable - inner stress caused by having too much expectations/anticipation - unfulfilled plans causing deep disappointment of being let down - a great desire of wanting to be loved – deep need of attention - fear of failing others -‐ fear of getting involved, as well as, fear of being asked by others to get involved. Like with headaches, it is essential to keep a journal to trace the history that may reveal clues as to the cause of your migraines. A good traditional non-drug remedy for headaches or migraines is the herb feverfew, which can be grown in a pot in your backyard as a quick relief Understanding the Healing Process of Headaches and Migraines Like in any other health condition, awareness and understanding is very helpful in order to initiate any healing process. Headaches or migraines are merely a symptom of an underlying dysfunction that needs to be addressed, whether they be physical, mental or emotional. They are merely a wake up call for you to take the steps to transform the disharmonies in your life. Through awareness and understanding, you can correct the parts in your life that have gone out of balance especially in the areas of giving and receiving. Again, not all of the symptoms mentioned earlier fit everyone – but, definitely a big part of it happens to people with recurrent migraines and headaches. It is up to you to find your own healing as everyone faces their own issues in life. The important thing is to have the willingness to be honest, and take the necessary steps to allow healing to take place.

3 Tips to Nip Stress in the Bud By Dr Marcia Becherel Did you know that the majority of visits to GP are not related to a particular type of illness but rather to the consequences of chronic stress. According to a 2011 survey from the Australian Psychological Society, 12% of Australians reported experiencing severe levels of stress. Young adults reported experiencing significantly higher levels of stress and lower levels of wellbeing than the general population. Those experiencing family or recent relationship breakdown and those separated reported significantly higher levels of stress and distress on all measures. Let's face it, we live in a fast paced society, with an emphasis on “more”. Consume more, work more, produce more... There are many sources of stress, worry and anxiety, and they all have a major impact on our health and wellbeing. For example, the most common signs and symptoms of stress include: poor sleep, fatigue, loss of appetite, lack of motivation, interest and energy, chest pain, irritability and anger, digestive problems, back pain, headaches, decreased immunity, and acne to cite only a few. It is cliché I know and it is so obvious that often we completely forget about it. So my first tip for you is to take a moment each day and observe where your focus is. Here are three questions you may want to ask yourself whenever you feel things are not quite right: ▪ What am I focusing on right now? ▪ Is it affecting my mood and energy levels? ▪ What might be a better focus for me to have right now? ñ Tip #2 – Are you taking the time necessary to nurture your body? We all
have a magnificent and amazing body that is capable of healing itself and regenerating itself. Think about it, it's pretty amazing to know that if your cut yourself, your body has the capacity to heal... But the thing is that it will only heal quickly if it is nourished properly, and has adequate energy. So taking time to eat quality food, drink plenty of water and having enough rest and sleep is important in reducing the physical stress burden on your body. Think about what you could adjust in your daily life to give your body all the nutrients, energy, care and love that it deserve. ñ Tip #3 – How are your relationships today? A key element in reducing stress
is to pay attention to how we relate and interact with the people around us. That include our spouse or partner, our children, our friends and our work colleagues. On the flip side, bad relationships can trigger stress, anxiety, worry and as a consequence poor physical health.
