The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) organized a series of COVID-19 security trainings and presented guidelines for reducing the risk of infection during grain loading and storage. Despite the largely mechanized processes, there are still segments that can jeopardize biosecurity (e.g. direct physical contact between farmers, truck drivers, quality control laboratory staff and others). This has prompted EBRD and FAO to develop guidelines for the operation of silos and present them to more than 500 local participants. The trainings includes good practices of biological protection against the spread of COVID-19, with a special focus on critical control points such as truck movement patterns, grain sampling and testing, unloading and access by external staff and visitors.
