We are now in the season of Lent, which began last week on Ash Wednesday. Lent is the 40 days which come before Easter in the Christian calendar and is a season of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. These 40 days are to be a pilgrimage of prayer and discipline that “we may grow in grace and learn to be your people once again.” TODAY we welcome the Revd Canon Flora Winfield, who is a member of Chapter and also the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Advisor for Reconciliation, as our preacher at the 10.15am Eucharist and at 4pm the Revd Canon Kathia Shoesmith will be our preacher at Choral Evensong. Kathia is a member of our College of Canons and also Area Dean of the Halifax and Calder valley Deaneries. Our RENEWAL OF GIVING 2020 will be launched today during the 10.15am Eucharist, when more information will be given. There will also be an opportunity to return response forms and ask any questions you may have. FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT started last Monday and today we are to hold our fifth FAIRTRADE BREAKFAST from 8.45am – 9.45am, when you can share in fellowship with others, whilst enjoying a simple, but delicious breakfast of Fairtrade and local food and drinks. If you missed it this year, look out for next year, as the event has now become a regular feature in the Cathedral’s year. THIS WEEK AND BEYOND LENT PRAYER SPACE An hour of prayer will be held tomorrow, Monday 2nd March, at 4.30pm in St Aidan’s Chapel. There will be 15 sections based on insights on prayer from St Benedict. Do join the clergy for all or part of this time if you can. The WEDNESDAY@1ORGAN RECITAL this Wednesday will feature Kurt Rampton from Birmingham. Kurt is an acclaimed organist, having performed in numerous countries including Amsterdam, Hamburg and London, where he performed in St Paul’s Cathedral. The buffet lunch, at £4, will be from 12.30pm and the recital, will start at 1pm. There will be a retiring collection in aid of the Organ Fund. The FAITH TRAIL returns next Saturday 7th March after its winter break. The Trail starts at 10.15am at St Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Leeds Road (meet at 10am) and then visits the Abu Bakar Masjid, the Shree Lakshmi Narayan Hindu Temple, the Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara and arrives here at Bradford Cathedral around 2.30pm, finishing about 3.30pm.
