CHILDREN’S SPACE Meet again today after their half-term break. INSTALLATION OF A NEW HONORARY CANON - TODAY at Choral Evensong at 4pm when The Revd Lizzy Woolf, who is Rector at St George’s in Leeds, is to be installed as an Honorary Canon of Bradford Cathedral. Bishop Nick will be preaching so do come along to welcome and support her if you can. NEW CATHEDRAL GROUP FOR 18-30s. There will be a brief discussion today with Canon Mandy during coffee after the 10.15am Eucharist for anyone who is interested in joining an18-30s group in the cathedral.
THIS WEEK SILENCE SPACE meets tomorrow, Monday, in St Aidan’s Chapel from 1pm – 1.30pm. All are welcome to share in this special time of silent prayer and reflection. MONDAY FELLOWSHIP meets tomorrow at 2pm in the Parish Room, when John Wright will be speaking. His talk is entitled “Armenia- the first officially Christian nation?” and all are welcome. John’s talks are always interesting so do go along and hear what he has to say if you can. There will be tea and coffee and biscuits afterwards and plenty of time for a chat. THE MONTHLY TUESDAY@ELEVEN COFFEE CONCERT welcomes this week Robert Suddal. As well as being a jazz pianist, Robert is also an organist, composer and producer and he is the accompanist for Ilkley Choral Society. The concert, will start at 11am and will be preceded by coffee and cake at 10.30. The concert is free, but there is a retiring collection. At the WEDNESDAY@1 ORGAN RECITAL we will welcome William Fox, who is the Sub-Organist of St Paul’s Cathedral. William was born in Yorkshire and has recently played at Westminster Abbey and cathedrals around the country. The buffet lunch at £4, is from 12.30-12.55pm and the recital will start at 1pm. The recital, is free and there will be a retiring collection which goes towards the organ fund.
CONFIRMATION CLASSES continue on Saturday mornings at 10am. If you would like to attend, either to be baptised or confirmed or as a refresher or if you would like more details, please contact Canon Mandy or one of the clergy. The November BRING & SHARE LUNCH is NEXT SUNDAY the 17th at 12 noon in Canon Paul and Sarah’s home, No 3 Cathedral Close. If you can, do bring some cold food to share, but if not you are still very welcome. Everyone is invited so do go along to share in this special time of food and fellowship. CATHEDRAL CHRISTMAS CARD – sales are going well of this year’s Cathedral Christmas card, which is available in the Cathedral Shop. Featuring The Nativity Icon from our recent exhibition of Icons by Chris Czainski, this card is only available here at the Cathedral and as well as making a wonderful Christmas card that speaks of what we believe as Christians, it can also be re-purposed as an aid to prayer. Cards are available from the Cathedral shop at £5 per pack of 10, or you can order them online at Christmascards.eventbrite.co.uk
PAT CLARE who was Treasurer, Membership Secretary and Committee member of the Friends of Bradford Cathedral, and a Welcomer at the Cathedral for many years, recently passed away. Pat’s funeral will be held at St James the Great, Woodhall at 12.15 on Thursday 14 November.
VOLUNTEERS are still needed for bulb planting in the Cathedral grounds. Please speak to Canon Mandy if you can help to plant the bulbs still left as we really want to have a garden full of colour next Spring in the West End area.
The CATHEDRAL CENTENARY SERVICE is on Sunday 24th November at 4pm This special service will soon be here and if you would like to be a part of our centenary celebration, when we will be celebrating 100 years since being granted cathedral status, you need to let us know so that a seat can be reserved for you –

Bishop Nick will be our preacher and staff and clergy, past and present, along with many other people from around the City and beyond will all be there. The service will be followed by tea and cakes in Kala Sangam and the day will conclude our Centenary year. We look forward to hearing from you. We are holding a TREE PLANTING DAY on Saturday 23rd November. You can join the team any time from 10am to 3pm when they’ll be planting near Denso Marston Nature Reserve, Otley Road, Baildon. There is a bus service No. 737 – dismount at the stop after St James Church or the Halfway House. By car, turn into Sapper Jordan Rossi business park for additional parking. Look for GREEN signs to the planting site. You don't need to bring anything with you, but sensible footwear is suggested. SPARKLING BRADFORD Christmas has begun. Look out for the lantern parade leaving the cathedral on Saturday 30th November at 4:30pm as part of Bradford Council's Christmas Market day. INN CHURCHES begins its winter ministry on 25th November and will run this time until early April next year. Please remember to keep collecting mini-toiletries, but they would also welcome hats, scarves and gloves and new underwear to give to those people who come to them for help. These can all be brought to the cathedral.
