CARERS ​meet again this Tuesday when they will be making Easter cards. The WEDNESDAY @​1 ​ORGAN RECITAL​ welcomes this week Christopher Newton, from Armley, who is a great friend of the Cathedral. If you can, do come along and support him and join us for the buffet lunch beforehand at £4 from 12.30pm – 12.55pm. The recital is free, but there is a retiring collection which goes towards the organ fund. PANCAKE LUNCH t​ he Shrove Tuesday Pancake Lunch is on T ​ uesday 5th March​ 12 noon for 12.30pm. Have you got your ticket yet? If not they are available from members of the Community Committee, from the C ​ athedral Office​ ​or My ChurchSuite​ and cost £8.50 or £4 for under 12s, with under 5s free. The pancakes will be a main course of savoury pancakes and a dessert of sweet pancakes and afterwards there will be tea and coffee and a Cathedral Quiz.​ A ​ dmission is by ticket only​, get your ticket as soon as you can. Bring a friend – everyone is welcome.

MONTHLY BELL RINGING SESSIONS W ​ e are delighted to announce that we are starting a consistent bell ringing day. This will take place on the f​ irst Sunday​ ​of the month​ after the 10.15 Eucharist. If you have any interest in ringing or wish to improve your ringing technique, then please come along and see Ron after these services. The LENT COURSE ​this year is on ​Wednesdays 13, 20 and 27 March at 7.30pm, when we are to welcome Bishop John Pritchard, Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Leeds and author of many books. His theme for the course is ‘The Elusive God’ and in his series of three addresses he will explore how we live our faith when each day may feel like a struggle. CONFIRMATIONS Easter Eve Saturday 20th April 2019 Confirmation groups will begin at the end of February. These are a wonderful opportunity to explore more about the Christian faith, to revisit or refresh things you might have forgotten or to prepare for baptism or confirmation. Topics for exploration include, who is God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, sin and forgiveness, heaven and hell, Anglicanism, how to read the Bible and what are the sacraments. Have a look and see what people keep in their drawers – it’s quite fascinating. STATIONS OF LAMENT ​this exhibition by Louise Carr opens at our Ash Wednesday Choral Eucharist on W ​ ednesday 6 March at 7pm​ and runs until 21 April. O ​ n Monday 11 March​, Louise is to lead a pilgrimage around the Stations of Lament with our Monday Fellowship at 2pm to which everyone is invited. Do put it on your calendar and join in the pilgrimage with the Monday Fellowship group. NEW ELECTORAL ROLL Have you completed an Electoral Roll form yet? ​The closing date for returning the forms is getting closer, and so if you haven’t already filled in your form, please pick one up from the sound-desk at the back of the Cathedral. FLOURISHING CITY​ On M ​ onday 11 March​ at 7pm, Anne-Marie Canning MBE, who is the independent chair of Bradford Opportunity Area, will be speaking here at the Cathedral. She will speak about the key priorities for Bradford, including strengthening school leadership and the quality of teaching, improving literacy and access to rewarding careers through raising aspirations and removing barriers to learning. The doors open at 6.30pm and there will be refreshments. Free tickets, which will help us to know how many people will be coming, are available on www.bradfordcathedral.eventbrite.com LOOKING FOR ACCOMMODATION FOR 5 PEOPLE FOR ONE NIGHT We are very pleased to be hosting Lamps Theatre performing their passion play in the Cathedral on Monday 8 April. We are needing to find overnight accommodation for 2 women and 3 men that night. If you are able to offer bed and breakfast for one of these actors, please let me know. Thank you. Canon Paul MINDFULNESS for STRESS MANAGEMENT and RESILIENCE WORKSHOP​ This Workshop has been rescheduled for Saturday 6 April from 2.30pm – 4pm. A PASSION PLAY by LAMPS THEATRE​ on Monday 8 April at 7pm, will be performed in the Cathedral by a cast of three talented professional actors, who will recreate the life, death and resurrection of Jesus in a moving, memorable and ultimately joyful retelling of the Easter events. Tickets are £8 (£5 for under 25s) and are available at w ​ ww.bradfordcathedral.eventbrite.com Book the Date​ Cathedral Centenary Festival Day Saturday 15th June​ Bradford Cathedral will be celebrating all day in lots of different ways. At 19:19 everyone will be welcome to our ​celebratory street party in the Cathedral and we are looking for a team of volunteers to help plan the party. If you are interested then please speak to Canon Mandy. SUNDAY 17 MARCH​ ​Bradford is hosting the Epilepsy Action 10k and during this event some roads around the Cathedral will be closed. These will include Church Bank from Stott Hill to Canal Road from 7:30am to 9:20am and Church Bank from its junction with Stott Hill to its junction with Forster Square from 7:30am through until 10:45am. Closures will also be in place on main roads such as Canal Road, parts of Shipley Airedale Road and others. We advise you to check the latest plan at ​epilepsy.org.uk/bradford10k​ before you travel.
