Looking for work? The Bailey Public Library and the Colorado Workforce Center have made it easier to find a job. The Bailey library now has a designated workstation complete with a computer linked
to the Colorado Department of Labor & Employment website, a printer, resource books and handouts. And soon, job seekers will be able to interview or meet with an employment specialist via Web cam. Cher Haavind, spokeswoman with the state labor department, said the Workforce Center in Bailey is a lifeline for people looking for

WHAT’S HOT Annual Trunk or Treat
The ninth annual Trunk or Treat at West Jeff Elementary School will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. The event will offer safe trick-or-treating from car to car in a lighted parking lot. Admission is one large bag of candy per child. Awards will be given for best costume and best decorated car. he various animals at the blessing service at Deer Park United Methodist Church on Sunday were relatively unconcerned, but for their owners, the blessing bestowed on their furry companions was a precious gift. Pastor Laura Hehner presided over the small congregation, which was almost doubled if you counted the beloved pets.
“I’ve looked forward to this all week,” Hehner said. About two dozen dogs, several cats, two ferrets and one hamster were blessed with wishes for a long and healthy life, and plenty of love. Cat owner Mel Schulman recently adopted two canines from the Intermountain Humane Society and brought Fi-Bee and Frodo to the service. The Park County Historical Society is celebrating the 150th birthday of Park County from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Platte Canyon Community Center, 57 County Road 64 in Shawnee. Those who bring a potluck dish will be admitted for free; without a dish, the cost if $5. Cake and coffee will be provided, so no need to bring a dessert. Presentations will be given that evening on local history, including the railroads, the Salt Works Ranch, and mining and gangs. Each month the historical society will schedule a dinner and speaker, and those with historical knowledge are encouraged to contact the society.
