Brian Gross Fine Art is pleased to publish a catalog of the exhibition "Donald Feasél: The Citadel Series", presented from March 14 – May 30, 2020. Feasél’s new paintings find him exploring gradations of saturated colors made with thinned acrylic paint that has seeped into the canvas. Full of movement and sumptuous tonalities, Feasél also relies on chance, risk, and serendipitous combination as part of his creative process, which push the limits of his control over the work’s creation. Minimal in their structure, but energetic in the formation, Feasél’s works blend the aesthetics of gestural abstraction with the principles of reductive painting to startling effect. Originally from Los Angeles, Donald Feasél received his MFA from UC Berkeley in 1984 and is currently a Lecturer at San Jose State University. Feasél’s work is represented in the collections of the di Rosa Center for Contemporary Art, Napa, CA, Santa Rosa Junior College, CA, and the San Jose Museum of Art, CA.
