The JUMP (Joint Universities Mentoring Programme) was established in 2007. The project recruits, trains and supports students from Lincoln University and Bishop Grossteste University to act as positive role models and mentors by offering support and encouragement. By providing opportunities for looked after children to participate in a variety of activities with the support of their university mentors, we aim to raise aspirations, increase self-esteem and increase confidence. FOR ALL PROJECTS This leads to a longer term benefit of raised achievement and be aspirations. Full training will be provided and CRB checks will carried t. Volunteers will be asked to act as a positive role model, offerare support and volunteers encouragement and to be able to effectively We seeking to support young people in care communicate with young people, their peers and project age 10-16 on residential weekends. All of the weekends will be at Freiston Centre staff. for Environmental Education,
near Boston. Transport to and from the centre will be provided. Volunteers will need to attend an evening training session in Lincoln and undertake two e–learning training modules. DBS checks will be carried out. Volunteers will be asked to act as a positive role model, offer support and encouragement and to be able to effectively communicate with young people, their peers and project staff.
JUMP Explore & Create
10th - 11th January 2015
This weekend is for looked after young people aged between 12—15. It offers the opportunity for them to explore the local Salt marsh and use their strandline finds to create artwork. Volunteers will be need to be prepared to get very muddy. You do not need to be an expert at anything, just enthusiastic and willing to join in!
JUMP Bushcraft 19th - 20th February 2015 This weekend is for young people aged 13 - 16. They will spend the weekend learning bushcraft skills such as starting a fire using a steel, cooking over an open fire, whittling and shelter building. Volunteers will be required to support pairs of young people to ensure safe practice within the bushcraft area.
JUMP Duke of Edinburgh Monthly weekends from February 2015 Volunteers are needed to support young people aged 14 and over. The weekends will focus on the skill, physical and expedition elements of the award. You will not be required to attend every weekend. Volunteers will be required to accompany the young people on practise walks. You need to be enthusiastic, good communication skills and the ability to motivate young people.
