SUMMER 2017

IMPACT REPORT

Helping Kids. Building Communities.

BECAUSE OF YOU...

KIDS AND TEENS ARE ONE STEP CLOSER

TO REACHING THEIR FULL POTENTIAL Your investment in our kids makes a world of difference. Because of your support, Boys & Girls Club members are exposed to new experiences, their eyes are opened to new possibilities and their futures are shaped by encouragement and inspiration. This report highlights some of the key results of our work so far in 2017. This past year, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver has taken a significant leap forward in program delivery, measured outcomes and development of skilled and caring staff. We hope you enjoy reading about the successes that your generosity makes possible in the lives of young people who rely on the Clubs.

KAROL’S STORY Karol is one of the 115 Boys & Girls Club members who graduated from high school in May. In the nine years that Karol attended the Boys & Girls Club, she has grown to become a hardworking and driven student that has high expectations for her future. This fall, Karol was the first in her family to go to college, as a Daniels Fund Scholar. With this scholarship, her undergraduate degree will be paid for entirely. She is majoring in Journalism and International Relations at American University in Washington D.C. Karol considers herself lucky to have been a part of something as unique and special as the Boys & Girls Club community. The Club is where she learned about sportsmanship, crafted her sense of individuality, and began the pursuit of a promising future.

I HAVE NO DOUBT THE MONEY I GIVE GOES DIRECTLY TO THE NEEDS OF KIDS IN OUR COMMUNITY. For more than nine years, Matt Beck has seen firsthand how Boys & Girls Clubs help young men and women find success, confidence and self-worth. As both a donor and a volunteer, Matt has dedicated much of his life to helping others - a commitment that he credits with positively impacting his overall happiness.

Matt’s favorite memory is the day he learned one of the Club kids he had coached and mentored for years was hired for his first job. Matt had written him a recommendation letter and helped the young man with his interview skills. When the boy’s mother called to tell Matt the good news, he was overcome with emotion and was so proud to have made a positive impact. Matt and his wife Darlene firmly believe that helping just one child become successful has generational effects. Thanks to the Becks and all of our supporters, Boys & Girls Clubs are providing invaluable opportunities for kids.

“It’s really great to see how efficiently dollars are spent and how far staff can make donations go.”

Every donation in 2017 has made a difference in the lives of kids and families in our community. This impact is evident in the smiling faces at our Clubs, in the little boy who found his voice through poetry and the arts, in Karol, the young woman who will be the first in her family to go to college, and in the alumni who come back home to the Club to share stories from college and their careers.
